I’m definitely more of a “sometimes the character picks you” kind of guy. I think out of every fighting game I’ve played in the last ten years the only one I wound up maining that I intended to main from the very beginning was Heihachi in SFxT. Frieza is my #1 anime character of all-time but I’m already thinking about what I can do with characters like 16, Piccolo, Hit, Adult Gohan and Black.
Jeah. Honestly I don’t see anything wrong with having a team to try out day 1. At least until you settle into the game. After that brief period of adjustment I experiment.
In team games, I admit freely that when trying out new teams I always try to base it off of a theme revolving around their canon. I’ve been talking about “The Mighty Don’t Tilt” with Piccolo/Hit/16 as they’re all soft-spoken fighters not easily rattled, but my friends are now putting ideas in my head on the system they’ll have in-game.
What do you mean by that? Lord Nappa will be top tier for sure.
Also, being a team game actually helps you pick a character you like (at least one of them) because you can pair him with other characters that complements him well, or just top tiers that are strong by themselves.
Dunno why, but seeing the shared mechanics every character has has me thinking that almost, if not everyone will be viable in some way.
No one looks trash tier or a wasted slot so far
I don’t have a clue about who’s actually weak in this game. Every character I seen could be putting some work, with some of them standing out for being really good, having excellent assists or even just being really good in a function.
On the other hand, every footage I’ve seen of Nappa had him as a pseudo-training dummy, that’s why I used him as an example, that character is way under the radar, but I now he’ll have a lot of mains because of DBZA.
Now the people who say this game will only have 18 characters can shut up. We currently have 23 in the roster and it’s not even done yet… we even got the Super heavyhitters (Beerus, Hit, and Goku Black) just like I thought.
My bets are on Bardock, Raditz, and Broly for the last base roster reveals making 26 characters.
One of the things I love about team games is the opportunity to build your own identity. That’s exactly what I’m going to do here. Since most of the cast is looking good, I know for a fact I’ll be switching up on a whim.
When I played the beta, the most enjoyable part was learning things on the fly. I didn’t watch any vids or anything. Just played for the duration of the beta with various characters to see who I enjoyed. It reminded me of those days back when a new Arcade fighting game arrived that no one was aware of. You just hopped on the machine and played. They had little labels on the side of the cabinet to give you the basics, but most of us ain’t read it, lol.
My guess is he was able to remember some of Goku’s abilities. Since Zamasu’s a God and a fighting prodigy, it’s more likely he was able to utilize those rather quickly. The Super Saiyan (Manga) transformation took him awhile to reach.
