isn’t it still up in the air if gohan assist is invincible? I think it would be interesting if you had to get to a certain level of potential with him, and then tag out for the improved assist.
Gohan’s might end up being really good assists but they aren’t necessarily going to be the best assist in the game, they don’t cause a lot of blockstun, the hitbox isn’t enormous and while it has a lot of invincibility he’s super vulnerable on recovery.
As far as initial impressions go Vegeta’s assist deserves a shoutout, that thing is awesome for lockdown and feels good for combo extension, main problem is it doesn’t work well in the corner as the blasts go over the opponent.
Actually won’t be suprised if SSGSS Goku, Vegeta and Beerus have pretty bad assists to partly balance out how strong their other stats are.
Now I’ve seen the assists definitely beerus freiza and likely one of gohan or bluegeta just need to stop these people dashing at me while I’m trying to run from them
Is it just me or do most of these assists do the same thing?
Gotenks, Kid Buu, Vegeta, Frieza, Gohan, 18 and Krillin have the stand out assists as it is. Lots of good ones but these seem like they have multiple uses or 1 very good use.
The gif doesn’t show Tien’s properly, is it a beam?
Hearing whispers that Yamcha is basically a god in this game. But it makes sense, because the high/low mix-ups in this game are not THAT hard to react too. Dragon Rush has a noticeable start-up that will only catch people who are pressing shit, but chicken block may shut that down. Will need to test.
Yamcha just shuts that whole equation down thanks to left/right mix-ups. Hit seems similar.
That is true. And you can combo off Hit’s easily. I’m surprised it even has projectile invul tbh.
Blue Vegeta’s assist sounds pretty good too. Big Bang Attack’s charging hitbox is like “Here, hold this blockstun while I open you up.”
Might be one of the best assists to Beerus’ if he wants to zone too. It might be enough time for him to deploy all six balls and you can’t just super dash or beam right into them.
Speaking of him, his assist is actually pretty good.

Hearing more and more stuff. Talking to more peeps that played the beta. Chicken blocking is not THAT strong. You can get hit low during pre-jump frames. So you cannot just hold up back if someone is pressing stuff on you in a chain. Dragon Rush does have slight tracking ability as well. If you press it and your opponent jumps then you do chase slightly.
Also Hellpockets stated all the early characters received changes, but were ignored in favor of all the new characters.
Arc Sys’ betas/loketests do vary wildly between each patch.
I’m assuming this last one will probably be the closest to the final build in terms of balance, with some slight adjustments if something gets out of hand.
