No plans to remove autocombos (but hopefully there’s a toggle like in MVCI) and no plans for selectable asssits will heavily limit the game
The worst thing about UMVC3 is the stale meta that hasn’t changed in years, and it’d be a shame if DBZF was tainted with the same curse. Hopefully they’ll reconsider since we still have at the very least 8-10 months before release
Auto combos will probably have a use even in high level play. Considering they have unique animations and can be jump cancelled they will have some uses.
Was thinking about in blockstrings, someone could do jab, call vegeta assist, second jab of the auto combo, neutral jump cancel, and then you get the mix up of either a jump in or empty jump low.
Or if the assist gives you enough time, you could even empty jump into universal overhead lol.
Where did they say they have no plans for selectable assists? We’ve only seen one build for this game so far so it could be implemented later. Also selectable assist didn’t do much for Marvel since there was nearly always a obviously optimal choice by a large margin. Only with something as open as Skullgurls custom assists did you see much variance, and even then some characters like Double still had optimal outliers that edged out all other options from viability. When balancing around non-selected assists they can more efficiently use the assist as another lever with which to strengthen or weaken problem characters.
They might kinda follow the lore but not go super hardcore about it. Like with the 6 characters we have right here the lore is already pretty fucked, BUT they are all strong overall characters who used to be around the top of the power curve at some point in the manga.
They might make characters like Yamcha or Satan, who are always garbage in the manga, a bit weaker. Or Krillin who is a bit stronger but is already a legit assist character in most of DBZ.
To me personally it makes sense to have “somewhat” dedicated assist chars. Doom had godlike assists and was good on point too and maybe they don’t want that.
Maybe they’re thinking of making someone like Krillin have a full screen taioken that dizzies people on hit or some ridiculous lariat/tron assist that sends the opponent flying across the screen making it perfect for zoning teams. You give these powerful tools to a character, it makes sense you’d limit his damage/range/speed, whatever. You can’t honestly give a character utility and everything else.
You might not agree with it, but there’s some logic behind. You can go for an all around team or frontload it with assists, which you have snapbacks for. I’d wait for a reveal of an “assist char” and how he looks before throwing out rocks.
No. They did Guilty Gear Isuka. 1v1 to 4v4 and everything in between. It was odd to play because you had everyone on the screen like a beat em up but couldn’t turn around since it’s basically X2. So they added a turn around button to it.
watched some of the videos again and analyzed a bit more the hit stun, and sound effects.
So correct me if im wrong but when characters do a grabish sorta ender in their chain combo. That is the button mashing one right? So vegetas stomach blast, cells bear hug etc? It would see that when you homing dash out of that it causes some attacks to have different effects afterwords… Of course that is unless just a random glitch and coincidence but it what it is.
Im gonna be out for most the day today but hopefully other stuff gets taped and ill try to see if i notice anything else strange.
Spirit Ball is his ultimate attack, so it’s pretty much stuck as a super version of Millia’s orb. It would need projectile invincibility for it to be even viable.
Wolf Fang Fist is just a combo special with a cool name.
Let’s be honest here, Yamcha doesn’t really offer a lot besides Spirit Ball and that’s too easy to screw up. He’d be a function.
Like said ya they did isuka(which random cough knowledge i helped some of their beta testers with glitchs for the game and thats how i knew about aba in it and order sol in slash before they came out cough), and they also had tag stuff in one of the gba games I think it was?
Also why do people want hercule… really?
I dunno about yamacha getting in, but tein probably has a good chance since the girl said its her favorite character I thought, so id think there is a solid chance on him being in it just becuase of that.
Ah, thanks. I missed that interview. Even so I think that adding two extra crap assists to each character only obfuscates the optimal choices. As long as Arcsys seriously considers the consequences of having a single assist on each character I think it can turn out for the better.
With capcom? Hell no. With Arcsys? Not sure I have a problem with that. Arcsys typically balance their games much better and have a much better understanding of how their own games high level play works. Capcom seems to just throw ideas into the games and just see what happens. It’s not like what assists were top in marvel2/3 was particularly unpredictable given their properties. Also being locked into a single assist makes characters a bit more distinct from each other.
