Dr. Doom Combo Thread

this isn’t true, my down exchange tac combo is L, L, ADF, L, M, Fly, L, L, ADU, LL, ADF, L, M, H, M, M, L Plasma, M M molecular shield into Sphere flame.

You can do a molecular shield ender from any basic combo off a side exchange, you just need to dash down forward into flight and go into whatever

not sure how u do all those dashes without flight.

you find this particular TAC combo easy to do? I’ve been attempting one that starts with down TAC L,L,M,M ADU L,L,M,M QCF+L FALLING M, QCF+L ETC but I find the one i’m doing very difficult. Looking for a few TAC’s with consistent timing. Mind messaging me your BNB TACs?

Really? That’s the down TAC combo I’ve been running with, and I’ve found it rather consistent. Are you sure you’re not messing yourself up by trying to do it on someone with a fat hit box (Dorm, Sent, etc.)? I know I’ve even had more frequent drops on characters like Zero.

I don’t think this will help anyone who knows what they’re doing with the game, but I’m narcissistic and like deluding myself into thinking I can contribute to something.

So…yeah…

The TAC combos that I generally use during matches are as follows ( with these I worked to find a balance between optimized for damage / meter, and consistency for my level of execution )

For up TAC - M ( 2 hit ), M ( 2 hit ), Fd. H, ADDF, M ( 1 hit ), Fly, M ( 2 hit ) M ( 2 hit ) x3, H, M ( 1 hit ) M ( 1 hit ), Plasma Beam L, M ( 2 hit ), Plasma Beam L, M ( 2 hit, or M 1 hit x2 ) Molecular Shield xx Sphere Flame

For Side TAC - ADDF, Fly, M ( 2 hit ) M ( 2 hit ) x3, H, M ( 1 hit ) M ( 1 hit ), Plasma Beam L, M ( 2 hit ), Plasma Beam L, M ( 2 hit, or M 1 hit x2 ) Molecular Shield xx Sphere Flame.

The timing for the end of the combo can FEEL a lot tighter than it is because you get really low to the ground, but its actually very easy. You can shorten it by just doing a 2 hit Medium into molecular shield after the first plasma beam.

For down TAC its what I listed earlier - L, L, ADF, L, M (1 hit ), Fly, L, L, ADU, L, L, ADF, L, M ( 2 hit ), H, M ( 1 hit ), M ( 1 hit ), L Plasma, M M molecular shield into Sphere flame.

A slightly easier version for down TAC that I did originally was L, L, ADF, L, M ( 1 hit ), Fly, L, M ( 1 hit ), ADU, L, M ( 2 hit ), ADF, L, M ( 2 hit ), H, into the normal M M plasma beam staircase followup

There also version for side and up tac’s that includes lots of lights, which do more damage during the flight portion of the combos but require more effort for a fairly insignificant reward ( 10-20kish damage depending on the combo ).

The thing that makes the tac combos so amazing is that you can add an element of freestyling to each combo, if you see that the character is either too high above doom for the plasma beam followups to work properly, or conversely too low, you can add or subtract lights during the flight portion of the combo to adjust their height, as well as adding delays between mediums. You want to make sure the character gets juggled so you get 3 or more hits from the H in order for them to get hit twice by the plasma beam.

For example if a character is getting juggled too low, you can do things like M ( 2 hit ) x2, ADF, Light, M ( 2 hit ) x2, ADF, M ( 2 hit )x H. You can either replace medium’s with lights or find ways to just add them in, doing it with the generic 6 medium m&m’s gives you a lot of leeway to mess with.

My up and down exchange combos start exactly the same:
j. :m:, j :m:, :h: foot dive, ad :f:, j. :m:xx fly, j. :m:, j:m:, ad :f:, j. :m:, j:m:, ad :f:, j. :m:, j:m:, j :h:

Down TAC ends like this:
falling j. :m: (1hit), falling j. :m: (1hit), land :h: rocks xx Sphere Flame

Up TAC ends like this:
falling j. :m: (1hit), falling j. :m: (1hit) xx :l: plasma beam, wait til you almost hit the ground, then j. :m: (2hits) land :h: rocks xx Sphere Flame.

Nice and easy, I’ll work on my side ones and make them tighter or see if I can get a simpler one. Dunno how much more damage Marlin’s TAC version does, or whether or not it can mean character death vs alive.

The main thing for this is what the combo leading into the TAC does damage wise, the version of the TAC combo you pick shouldnt be the deciding factor majority of the time. Marlins side exchange combo does like 30-50k more damage depending on how he finishes it, and its much easier to drop because the delayed L L M M H string can be really finicky.

Hello all, this is my first post on Shoryuken, I wanted to say you guys have been coming up with some great Doom stuff, and if I become able to record again I hope that I can join in the discoveries as I found some neat stuff today.

Ha ha, that first combo is cute. I think I would do that if I knew I had the game won. Do you know if it would still work if you start it off of a cr. LMHS? Oh, is which Plasma Beam is that? Looks like L version to me.

Yeah it’s Plasma Beam L, and yes it should work off of that, however I’ve only been able to do it on Dormammu specifically so far.
I couldn’t get it to work on Nemesis or Hulk even.

Also has anyone noticed that standing Photon Array actually does more damage than Sphere Flame and air Photon Array in certain combos? This isn’t just on big characters too as I’ve been able to do it on Zero, it just requires precise positioning. Hope to make a video showing this off soon.

^I think duck strong has a couple standing photon array combos but yeah I wouldnt mind seeing more videos of it.

sometimes the last :m: catches the opponent to where you can hit them with a :s: footdive… can TAC again, or assist special, or 3 bar.
this does the most damage for me.

You can do 4 reps of M&M’s after activating flight. If you’re still mid-chain when flight wears off, you won’t drop until the last normal animation ends.

Is this a corner combo only or can work in space?

and as for corner only, thats the only place ive tried. lol.

Unless there’s some magic I’m missing, plasma beam extensions won’t work outside of the corner.

Plasma beam extensions are possible outside the corner, well, if you’re not in a TAC, though I’m sure you could figure out some way to use them.
Try this midscreen
cr.:l:, cr:h:, s.:s:,(long delay before you jump), j.:m: (1-hit), Plasma Beam :l:, ADDF, j.:m:, land, whatever you want from there.

Is anyone messing around with Photon shot? I think it looks neat in combos because no one really uses it, here’s a very brief down TAC that uses one, not very damaging but somewhat reliable if you get used to it.

(Corner) Down TAC into Doom, immediately Photon Shot :l:, j.:h: (Laser hits 1 time before you hit the ground, land, Plasma Beam :h: into choice of Hyper Combo

I’m looking to getting into Doom, I’m reading the past few pages of the thread and it’s really overwhelming. Many of the videos don’t have transcripts which makes it difficult for me to follow What’s an intermediate level BnB combo to start with that requires no assists? What’s something more advanced I should be looking towards in the long run? It would be nice if I could get a video and a transcript, not mandatory though. Thanks in advanced.
