So is Bucks mid screen combo still the best or is Clocks better?
I prefer clackwork loop over buk
Buk’s is way better midscreen. More meter, more damage, more reps.
Clockw0rk is shown using a new midscreen combo during a stream with MarlinPie. He uses it at various times throughout the video. It looks like it has to do with some M rom reps.
Really? cuz Ive been using bucks but was just wondering since most dooms on stream use clocks works midscreen.
Can you give a specific time he does it? Stream is quite long. If your talking about the j.m j.m, foot, footdive, that’s old stuff.
In other news, his Strider is impressive once it gets going. He doesn’t even need to do combos. Problem is getting him going before he dies which doesn’t seem to happen very often against solid players.
As for the most dooms on stream using clocks midscreen, I’m kinda confused as to why. It’s only good when you catch them straight up full combo from a ground series AND if you’re close to the opposite corner. Otherwise its not as good as buktooth loop. Guess everyone just likes it because its easier to do with all the new doom’s from bandwagon’ing? Or maybe it’s Clockw0rkism?
Watch part 3 right around the 34:30ish mark.
It’s a pretty good example I think he does a little better version somewhere else in that stream.
Even Clock doesn’t always use the most optimal tech. I wish people would test this stuff for themselves.
Pretty stylish.
+1
Keep in mind Clock has been playing doom for 10+ years and if anyone knows how to optimize his stuff it’s him. If he plays the same character the same way for so long things get stale. I’m sure he uses a new bnb just to keep things interesting. I have a few suboptimal combos of my own too that I use all the time because they are MY combos and they’re stylish. Except when clock does his own combos everyone starts jockin his style mad hard and don’t stop talking about it.
I’ve been using doom religiously since vanilla so I have tech and combos I keep to myself that no one on the thread knows about or also keeps secret as well.
Doom solo stuff is optimized from every entry point in opening post. Bnbs are called bnbs because they are optimized. Not because it’s what clock is suddenly doing.
Ok does anyone know the notation for the Bnb loop Clockwork and every other pro doom uses?
I’ve been working on a new BnB but after a lot of testing it seems to be character specific, or at least require some sort of alternative timing to get it to work on everyone. Kind of disappointing as it would be a pretty good and reliable combo if I could figure it out.
cr.L cr.M cr.H S j.M j.6H addf j.M land cr.H S j.M j.6H addf j.M land j.M j.M j.6H j.S addf, triangle dash otg st.H j.M j.M j.6H j.S addf whiff j.H into 5H otg or whatever
Basically it’s a modified version of my current bnb that extends the combo with one rep of the new j.M j.M j.6H j.S corner to corner loop. This version also carries corner to corner and builds 1.6-1.7 meters and does about 640K meterless before whatever you decide to tack on at the end. The one negative thing about it is that if you start all the way with your back in the corner it can be more difficult to land otg plasma beams into super or st.H into sphere flame if your assist is slow.
The problem I’m having with both this and the regular corner carry loop is that, on some characters, after the first set of j.M j.M j.6H j.S, the j.S in the next rep will just whiff. I experimented with different timings and different numbers of hits in the j.Ms and all sorts of things but I could never find one that consistently works on everyone.
Everyone I talk to seems to say that the m m 6h S timing is different. I have never really noticed but it does seem more difficult on some characters like Wesker and Tron. I do it visually, watching for Doom’s position.
As a test someone could training mode record the combo on wesker, then switch to x23 and wolverine. Should drop if the timing is different.
@Rokmode
Just curious, why do u like clockwork’s over buk’s.
With the buktooth loop, do u guys always press up after a launcher to jump for the air portions of the loop or do you just hold down S? And I guess it is just me, but Im liking the loop better with the one hit of j.M to help with hitstun scaling, my 2 main problems are having them pop out at the end and screwing up the forward+H for footdives oddly enough.
hold up/forward. I cant stand the hold c to follow them up
Try it out. I vaguely recall trying one hit but it making the height for relaunches fickle. Can you extend the combo another loop by using one hit M’s? If not, putting as many hits into each loop will earn you more damage.
I have confirmed that the combo I posted above is usable on everyone, you just have to delay the last j.M the tiniest little bit. It took me probably 8 hours total to iron out that little detail, because I’m just that amazing.
I’m normally only reading the forums, but I can’t seem to find a good way to do the Cl0ckw0rk loop.
I do this: c.l, c.m, c.h, c.s, j.m, j.m, j.f-h, j.s but then I land very slow and I end up a screen away, so I can do the wavedash but I’m still to faraway for a s.h !!
Anyone can give my the proper notation for this combo and tips !?!?
After the j.S you have to airdash down-forward and press j.H to whiff air laser and fall faster. once you land, triangle dash over to them and otg with st.H
Also, on some characters the j.S will whiff after the first rep if you do it at normal speed. Delaying the second j.M just a tiny little bit seems to solve this problem and make the combo work universally with the same timing on all characters
FOR BNB: Do Clockworks. Clockwork bread and better is way better and more consistent. The only difficulty is doing it from midscreen to the end and that’s not even that hard. The HUGE PROBLEM with BUK’s BnB is it’s largely inconsistent due to character sizes and especially how far they are pushed from the launcher.
ClockWork solve that problem by having a one method/timing that works for all characters. And tip of advice: Instead of doing a C after every triangle- jump just do an M.
