Do you know what model number I should be looking for to insure that there are no problems? I’m going up to the red-neck farmers market where they have old as video game stuffs to look for PS1 controllers.

Ideally, if you find one of those SF Anniversary (http://www.the-nextlevel.com/reviews/ps2/street-fighter-anniversary-collection/sf-ps2-controller-ryu.jpg) I can solder to that upside down blindfolded.
Barring that, if you can find a PS1 DIGITAL pad (the one without the analog sticks), I’m almost certain any of those you’re going to find will work… just do me a favor and look for one that has an “H” or “M” on the back end, like these two

Those will help me a lot because the SE was designed by Satan himself, and I have virtually NO space to work in that case.

OMG yes I’l take one of those springs fo sho you are a lifesaver. Yeah I kinda decided to loosen mine by cutting it but I cut too much off and it ended up awful

I also have LS-33 springs, if you want to try that out for tension.
Yeah 'll try whatever. The only spring I’ve ever known is the one in the TE and the Cab (which are the same I believe). So I should definitely try others too.
LS-33 is the only other one I can recommend. The actuator and spring stop aren’t made to handle springs of any other type, it could cause some bad effects on the stick.
If neither of those work for you, you may just want to switch to an LS-32 if you’re looking to go looser.
