Doesn’t mean they’re going to use it
Check around to see if the save is protected, there are some games on the Wii that you can’t copy saves for (I know Pro Evolution Soccer 2008/9 wouldn’t let you)
You guys please keep it on Alpha3 or get out of the thread. K, thanks. Bye.
So I got a copy of Z3U for my naomi/supergun.
Doesn’t feel good man, dropped frames like a motherfucker. Karin just appears at the end of the Guren Ken sometimes. Boy am I happy I didn’t pay for this.
I’m two seconds away from blowing up the thread…
See you guyz this weekend
Too bad my Guilty Gear wasn’t recorded. I might be able to figure out what I’m doing wrong easier if I could see myself.
Oh well. Back to Third Strike! Friday it is.
See you dudes today. I’ll try to be there at 5ish
Hey guys , if you haven’t gone already i just want to say dont stop by siren today or tomorrow. The cab isnt working right now. I wouldve posted this sooner but SRK was down for a lil bit. I apologize to everyone in advance. No tournament tomorrow either. :’(
Shiiit, I drove all the way out here just to look suspicious staring at a blank screen and trying to turn the cab on for 40 mins, rage!
It’s all good, I got to play theory fighter in my mind against shin blank screen akuma. bummer about the cab, hope I didn’t break it more by turning it on. hope you get it all sorted out soon
What’s the cab status? Any idea what’s the matter with it?
I have two/three ideas about what happened, from what Brian told me.
a.) The IDE cable from the CD Drive to the CPS3-A board is bad, or disconnected. I know the header on the cable felt a bit weird when I was doing the adjustments before the last tournament, but it was nothing that would stop the disc drive from working. Not sure how long of an IDE cable you would need to run from it.
b.)The Power is not connected properly to the disc drive/molex is fucked up. Again, don’t know what work was being done, but its a possibility from what I’m working with.
c.)The disc drive is bad. I really really really doubt this, as CD drives almost always die a very very slow death, If this was the case you would have been hearing seeking delay, audio wise. You would have been hearing it for quite some time. I don’t know how particular the CPS3 is with CD Drives. My CPS3 board has a black LG disc drive, but mine is from a 2I kit, don’t know if they changed manufacturers. My only experience with changing disc drives in kits are with Naomi boards, and only two manufacturers made naomi GD-Rom drives, so it was never a problem. I know that the Triforce hardware locks out all but one specific disc drive though.
its all just ideas at this point, I don’t know exactly what’s up with it. I was trying to fit getting up to Doylestown in my schedule today, but I promised a girl i’d take her out to dinner, so yeah. Sucks that the cabinet isn’t working. What exactly was going on when it stopped working?
Diaperbomb tried to remove parry from 3s. :nono:
The symptoms of the cab are as follows:
- The cd rom has power: the drive spins when the machine is on.
- The cabinet has power: the lights are illuminated when the cab is on.
- (?)The monitors seem to be on (?): there are occasional white specks on the screens when the machine is on.
- There is no sound or video observed.
All the connections have been looked at and appear to be secure. We suspect that the problem lies somewhere within the cd rom or the ribbon cable, and that this is preventing the game’s video and sound data from being carried to the monitors and speakers. That would explain why there are white specks on the monitors and why the lights are illuminated, yet there is no game audio or video.
Brian said that we might be able to better diagnose the problem if we try hooking up a different game rom to the cab(?). I’m not quite sure on the details, so I’ll let him comment on it.
Would not be the case. You would still get the CPS3 bios screen (as the bios is loaded in sram), and a screen asking you to insert a disc. Its not the CD drive, if you’re getting I/O from the drive. (I just checked this on my supergun, completely disconnected the disc drive, still powered on just wanted to know where the hell Jojo’s was lol) it would be between the CPS3-A board and the monitor/speaker.
lol me and a few players played 3s on the mame machine at up omg it was bad i was running the tables with alex rofl (WHEN THE FUCK DO I USE ALEX) lol
Yo Alex is secret top tier Kyle! Also I want to go to those UP tournaments if you guys have anymore lemme know.
As for the cab…
I looked at it againe yesterday with shaun every which way. We hooked up his CE board to the cab and THAT worked… :’(
SO
That most likely means that the problem is either 1 of 2 things or a variation on one. The ribbon from the CDROM drive to the board is fucked (because the cdrom drive is getting power) or there’s something wrong with the 3s board itself (dear god no). My guess is that the ribbon is fucked up.
I want to try 1 or 2 more things before I try to buy a new ribbon for the cab (or board). Ed, I think you mentioned you have a cps3 setup/board for your supergun at home? If so I’d like you to bring that by when you have the chance to test that out and see if the problem is in the 3s board itself. I’d also like to try out Sam’s ST board to see if CPS2 works fine n dandy because we didnt have the kick harnesses to get CE fully operational.
Either way hopefully we can get this resolved as soon as possible!
Finally I’m going to GVN this weekend. Hope to see you guyz all there. Gotta support BIG E.
P.S. Kyle let’s team up in SF4 and ST
What, no team up with me?
Sorry I couldn’t come by to help. I have bigger fish to fry. I’ll see if I can hop over during the week and see what I can derive from the situation.
Afraid that won’t do you any good.
my board doesn’t output in 15khz like your monitor needs, I have component out and 31khz (normal vga out). Not entirely sure why the guy I bought it off cut the signal to the original video output, I’d guess something to do with interference. But regardless, I wouldn’t get any signal on the cabinets monitors.
Further Investigation and a more plausible theory…
I think that the problem might lie in the transistor on the CPS3 board but we’d need some equipment to test it out to be 100% sure. Why do I think its the transistor? Because of the additional power supply being fed to it by the recording equipment being left in the whole time. If it was only for a lil bit then it’d be no problem but it was left in for at least a 2 months + while the cabinent was being left on all day everyday, probably shorted out the transistor. CPS3 boards are fragile compared to other boards like CPS2 and I noticed that when the cab randomly shut off before it seemed like a possible power surge to me because of the “popping” sound. Also of semi-note is that the transistor is right next to the test button on the board. : X
That’s my current theory on whats wrong with the board but i’d like to do some further testing. I’d also like to completely rule out the ribbon being the problem.
Also Ed the Jojo board itself just won’t be recognized on the Cab monitors at all regardless if we use the ribbon and cdrom drive and other crap we got with the 3s board and just tried it on the JoJo board instead? Just making sure here.
Also GVN this weekend. I plan on spending a lot of moneyyyyyy.
The likely hood of this is… I’m going to say non-existant. That board uses somewhere between 2 and 5 (thermal) watts. It’s not driving anything, its just powering the signal. Mine (which draws at a higher resolution) draws 5 watts. Considering that the I/O for the Versus City Lights is not being driven by the cabinet (as its a Naomi feature) I’d be willing to say that your either below or at about what the cabinet would be drawing stock. Even if you were pulling maximum amount off the power supply (which I’m absolutely sure SEGA didn’t ship the cabinet like that, because its in horrible taste) it would still be able to draw an extra 5 watts without any problem (the rating is somewhat of a suggestion, you can’t go over by too much, but its not limited at x watts). If a transistor/capaciter blew, it wasn’t because of the extra video output.
I could bring the Jojo’s security cart/cd rom… you would get the same results, a blank screen. Even with the security cart missing, I still get the cps3 bios screen on my setup. Your boards cd drive and whatnot would do nothing for my CPS3-A board, because the original video output has had its signal cut, to reduce noise.
<edit> you guys said you’re getting a solid screen with a dot? I want you to try booting the cps3 board without the 3s board or cd inserted…
I’m reading up now on CPS3 suicide… which could help out a bit. Its a bit early for cps3 boards batteries to start dieing, but I’m seeing a lot of dead 3s boards on ebay…
man down
as the 3S cab is out of commission we also have a fallen comrade. Jim is in the hospital this week.
Man, Im sorry to hear that. Get better soon Jim! Im rooting for ya! :karate:
