Roid Gang…I see, I’ve been following them since the kickstarter. Mostly just watched the trailers though. As the long wait has been… I try to avoid too much of it.
There was a spiritual successor to the original RCR. Downtown special: kunio-kun no jidaigeki da yo zen’in shūgō!. Has an english translation and not too bad a game. You could learn a lot more moves and recruit bosses that were beaten as your partner. It was a bit of a pain chasing down gangs when they kept moving around. The sequels on snes didn’t feel nearly as sandbox. Nor have the appeal of earlier ones. Decent beat em ups I guess.
I do agree that GBA felt a bit weird with the combat direction. Still alright and yes DDA definitely felt more polished. New RCR underground however, seems to keep the flavour of the old and implemented some modern advancements to the game. I’m not sure labyrinth is the term I’d use. It was a sandbox world akin to something from an RPG.
I’m happy both games are getting a bit of limelight in this generation.
Neon is inferior. the modernized graphics just clouds mainstreamers judgement. Like people assume FFXV is a decent game just because it has better graphics than its predecessors, when it is in fact one of the worst games and stories ever.
DDIV raises the standards in every way, including better art taste for the series. Also being safe in the uppermost and lowermost parts of the screen, is a fair game mechanic, it even makes it possible for a solo player to alternate between two characters. the game is plenty challenging and brutal as it is, so having safe zones on the top and bottom is not broken game design.
DDIV is overall the most replayable, enjoyable, diversified and epic game in the whole series, moving the series forward in more creative ways than all the previous ones, even Double Dragon 3. the Tower mode itself is also epic awesome, and it’s beyond wonderful that everyone is playable…except Marian, but the rest of the playable selection makes up for it.
I feel they should have made Marian playable instead of DD1 sprite versions of the Lee twins, they could give Marian rocks to chuck at enemies, like Linda can chuck grenades. but yea I guess they wanna keep Marian as the Yuria of the series, but even Princess Peach got a promotion. ah well, there’s still lots of great things about DDIV, don’t expect critics to understand.
Nope. I just have a crappy laptop, PS3 and Vita. Though, my crappy laptop may be able to play these 8-bit retro style games. I may have to check it out, just give it a try.
DDIV has the most epic story ever. and it has the only antagonists that are self aware and can see both their good and evil side.
River City Ransom should have great variety of playable characters like DDIV does for all modes
River City Ransom Underground is probably going to have more playable characters than Double Dragon IV. I haven’t done the count but I’m pretty sure it does.
but does it have as much variety and unique designs? or are they just all cloned dudes with tweaked faces/hairstyles like that dodgeball game? anyways Double Dragon series has greater proportioned character designs and sprites than RCR type characters. RCR characters are pudgy looking and fat.
I’ve got some good Double Dragon nostalgia, so I decided to give this a shot despite the bad reviews. So far (only played through the story mode) it’s ok, nothing fantastic. I’d say it’s worth checking out if you have that nostalgia and it’s on sale for $3 or less. Neon is massively better.
I’m not sure if you’re trolling or not. RCR has 10 characters with literally 10 times the amount of moves per character, better combat, ai, graphics, animation.
Try out the DD’s on NES and see the difference. 3’s AI is much better and the games are damn tough. DD4 they struggle to follow you as you walk up & down often feeling lost and you can run around for most the game doing that jump spin kick and comboing knee or uppercut.
The one thing I’m thankful for is affinity linking that 100 tower video. Glad I didn’t waste my time.
calling them pedophilia bait is like saying FFXV is a homosexual training program for homo wannabes.
games like Atelier, Blue Reflection, and SG/ZH are about strong female protagonists and playing as those female characters. Totally different from games like Gal Gun and Omega Quintet which are clearly designed to be pervert sim. With Senran Kagura, it depends how you play it, because on one side, it’s about female empowerment, on the other side, depending what you play it for, perverts can play it for perverted reasons, but just because there are sexual themes, doesn’t make someone a pedo playing those games.
humans are sexual, and that’s natural, but assuming and generalizing the games are just for perverts/pedos,
is like saying games that are exclusively about male glorification, are for homosexual dudes only.
guess Kingdom Hearts, and PTS Naruto are pedophilia bait games/stories to you too?
so you are ok with half naked boys, but not girls that expose even the slightest skin?
if you prefer to dwell on the pedo bait perspective, then that’s what pedos do.
I mean seriously, you probably can’t even go outside without being scared to be around female children, in fear that you’ll be perceived as a pedophile.
if you are that insecure about how others think of you towards female children and teens, I wonder how you would behave around your daughter if you had one. Probably move out? Abuse her cause you hate girls and dont want to be perceived as a incest child molestor? Set her up for adoption?
