Is Diretide running at the moment?
Haven’t played Dota in month and wonder if there’s some casual shit in Dota I can do when I’m done grinding my E.Ryu.
Nah, he’s pretty bad. Put a MoM on a strength carry and they’re superior.
Nope. Valve explicitly stated that there will be no Diretide this year. Which is fucking disgusting, considering Dota fans just gave Valve $30 million in Compendiums.
DotA 2 team is like 30 people, so I’m not surprised there’s no Diretide when they still haven’t completed all the Compendium bonuses yet. lol
Nyx is just okay, I think. The problem with the hero is that he’s too level dependent to run as a support most of the time, and if you run him as a core, there are way better heroes that fulfill that role. Vendetta is a pretty weak ult these days that doesn’t offer too much, and landing Impale is still pretty difficult. I still get fucking sad when I see pub Nyxs NOT get Blink Dagger after Arcane Boots. 
Why buy blink dagger when you could buy DAGON DAGON DAAAGOOON
I’m still in the bracket where Vendetta is good enough for getting into position to convert somebody into gold. Sentries are only ever put in the same two or three spots on the river and never in lane.
Just makes me sad because Impale is hands down Nyx’s best ability and one of the best non-ult disables in the game. WHY GET DAGON WHEN YOU CAN BLINK IMPALE WHICH IS 100 TIMES MORE IMPORTANT. SMH. 
Yeah I usually go Arcane, Blink, then Dagon, Sheep Stick, or whatever the team needs due to how the game is going.
Core items on Nyx are Arcane Boots and Blink Dagger. After that, it’s fine to go Dagon or some sort of other situational item.
Theoretically, the $30 million fans straight up gave Valve should yield some return for fans. It shouldn’t have been turned into gold coins for GabeN’s Scrooge McDuck vault.
Given the popularity of characters like PA, Morphling and other characters susceptible to burst damage, I actually think Dagon’s more important than ever.
In pubs? Maybe. I don’t see PA and Morphling that much in pub games TBH (they’re not popular in pro games either). There are better heroes to control PA with rather than bursting her down before she gets or activates a BKB, and good luck solo killing a good Morphling if he has Linkins since he’ll just start morphing strength right away. In general, I guess you could argue Dagon is good if you ABSOLUTELY NEED the extra burst, but 9 times out of 10 a Blink Dagger will carry the hero much further.
Not just in pubs, basically in general.
And of course there are better characters to handle PA and Morph. That’s why nobody uses Nyx anymore!
At my rating PA is fucking everywhere, she’s in pretty much all of my games. I’m so sick of seeing her. Annoying, cheap character. Not necessarily too strong, just annoying. And cheap.
She’s such bullshit unless you put forward the necessary team effort to put her down. My winrate against her is trash (25-30%) and I’m starting to learn characters just to deal with her, Troll was one of them.
Do 2-spot Lina. Blink+Aghs=Dead PA.
I’ll try it, but every single PA just rushes BKB anyway. She’ll have it before I have Aghs…and even that won’t 1 shot her. We’ll see how it goes when I play later tonight.
Someone instalocked PA? Pick Lion, get Ghost Scepter, laugh as you deliver the best combo in the game and she can’t do shit.
Once you’re done farming heroes go for Scythe. Another two seconds of her not being able to do shit.
BKB? In pubs? Hell nah, gotta get that Battlefury!
they can’t convert the compendium money to more content because of the way valve hires people, and that system probably shouldn’t change. they’d dump the money back into dota in the form of infrastructure (peru servers).
vendetta never stops being useful in any bracket because it forces supports to buy sentries/dust/gem. blink gives you another way to initiate-- for instance against someone that does have detection, or when coordinating a gank, or for positioning in a teamfight (you don’t exactly want your nyx on the frontline).
against PA yeah lion is good. she’s crazy weak against manadrain because she has one of the worst pools and THE worst int growth. She’ll get bkb, but so do lots of people-- If she pops bkb to solokill you then she’s probably retarded, otherwise stay away from her/out of vision when fights start. That doesn’t mean don’t show up to fights, but learning when you can’t/can have an impact and your positioning then is one of the skills you need to develop anyway. Later on her bkb will hit 5 or so seconds.
If you are play other supports then get a ghost scepter or euls.
Agh’s laguna blade goes through BKB because Lina gives no shits.
Lina does not counter PA. Aghs requires too much farm and Lina is already a pretty weak hero on top of that. There are many ways to shut out PA but Aghs Lina is not one of them.
EDIT: So yesterday my friend was talking about a game of Riki and BH being on his team during a game. I was talking shit about how much BH sucks now and that he’s a relatively useless hero. We get into a game 30 seconds later… AND I RANDOM BOUNTY HUNTER. I laughed, saying “THIS *WOULD *HAPPEN” and lamented my plight in team chat. Silencer on my team offered to swap, BUT I QUICKLY DENIED THE SWAP, CLAIMING “I MUST ACCEPT MY FATE FOR TALKING SHIT ABOUT THIS HERO”. We won anyways but that’s besides the point.
It works in my experience. Obviously it’s not gonna happen if you’re solo queuing because people always say “WTF LINA BUY WARDS AND MEK” but if you are working a 5-man, using Lina in a 2-spot role and rushing scepter lets you blow PA up at any phase of the game.
Well, solo queuing is where she’s a problem. Where I can’t rely on coordination to shut her down when she’s vulnerable, then she eventually gets her BKB and just starts walking all over the match doing whatever she wants. I haven’t found a go-to counter yet (besides Troll, whom has decent success, but isn’t as guaranteed as I’d like)
Disables that go through BKB can give her issues. Black Hole, Aghs Doom, and especially Lasso. PA has a lot of counters but many don’t tend to show up in unranked pubs since people will just pick all willy-nilly.
