I’m surprised this thread isn’t popping more. Got into the beta last week. Great so far, just like how I remember DotA. Been playing a lot with my friends, although naturally, there are a ton of bad players that can ruin your game. Three friends and I were playing the other day and the Vengeful Spirit on our team didn’t buy wards or a courier. When we asked him to, he pretty much told us to fuck off and buy our own, even though he was the only support on our team. After dying several times and us getting frustrated with him, he decided to intentionally feed all game until we lost. 
You think that people would be grateful to be involved in the beta instead of being a jerk. I’ve been playing between the beta and LOL, there is more blatant raging in DotA 2, probably just new guys that think they can get away with it. Don’t get me wrong, DotA is a lot of fun. I am seriously considering to drop LOL for this once it officially comes out. The report system looks solid so I’m not too worried about a few jerks ruining the experience.

The amount of rage in dota 2 is amazing, people will cry about things even when it’s not really your fault.

You guys must not be used to Dota or have forgotten it is by far the most bad mannered community I have been a part of. Which to me is fine I don’t mind it but the Beta has been pretty tame so far compared to original.
I’m not gonna lie… in pugs I can get frustrated and berate people a little. lol
I got a Dota 2 beta key from the great steam gift event, I think. Never played a Moba before (outside of Super MNC, which is a FPS Moba) so I’m looking forward to making people rage at me as much as possible by sucking

All I ask is no random. It gets pretty frustrating to have to get bad lanes and team comp just because 4 people wanted to random. Ancient apparition is my best right now, support is the most fun for me. AA, CM and WD are the most fun to me.
I random every game since I know every character, but I do it fast so they can see who I get. It never really matters though since I can carry hard in this game. Don’t see why it would matter so much to you in pub’s anyway.
I go hard 24/7. Play to win all day every day. I dunno, well when it’s pubs and I dont know If it’s random or not i guess I’m okay, it’s when I play with other people and they random a hero they aren’t good with and that also in turns gives us shitty team comp that it frustrates me.
Yeah people randoming someone they suck with is always pretty lame, but if they are good with a majority of the cast and they random EARLY it doesn’t bother me too much. Plus I can just pick skeleton king and win every match.
also I really like bounty hunter, I wish he was an easy general pick that I could play every game.
I don’t see why you couldn’t play Bounty Hunter in every game. If you play him right and change around the order in which he gets some of his core items should be fine.
If you’ve got advice I’d love to hear it, so far I’ve just been rushing the item that gives a ton of AD and lowers armor on auto attack(it’s made of the 2 2600 pure AD items and a reciped) and phase boots, and then going for monkey kings bar or sanje and yasha. To me it feels like a squishie melee with no CC is hard to place without the team working around it a bit. I’m always looking for advice on item builds, there’s a ton of items and they function VERY differently from LoL.
edit: I also understand tha tbuilds are much more fluid in dota than LoL, and what I build will depend on lots of stuff, but I’d love to not feel like I’m pigeon holing my team every time I pick bounty hunter.
edit again: also are there any good references for dota2, I know playdota has guides on all the characters but I’m not nearly experienced enough with the game to know their quality or when to deviate(I still don’t even know what half the items actually do). It’s really hard for me(coming fro LoL) to quantify the effects of each item.
Check out ‘purge’ on YouTube. He has first person gameplay with commentary for most of the heroes. He’s very informative and explains why he does what he does. He also has a video where he goes through every item in the game and explains it’s uses.
