Does someone who has actually been following the DotA scene lately know where Yaphets disappeared to? He left DK and went to Tyloo at some point, but he isn’t there anymore. Also, is Nv.cns’ XwkKx the old WeaponX/X!!! or someone else? I just got back to looking at comp dota after quite an abscence and the constant team shuffling and renaming makes it fairly confusing.
So, I think I randomly read somewhere that the chinese teams weren’t picking up dota 2? From a scrub’s eyes, dota 2 and dota seem almost identical other than the interface. What would be examples of the small intricate differences that would annoy a “purist”?
There are some very minor engine differences but Dota2 mostly copied the badly coded Dota1 mishaps over, so I doubt that’s the reason.
I think the bigger problem for chinese/SEA players is that Dota2 eats more ressources than -1 and they mostly play on terrible terrible computers in shady cybercafés which quite possibly don’t run the game.
Shouldn’t really pose a problem for the actual pro teams though, so I’m unsure. A source would be nice :\
I take it back, I initially read the forum post a few days ago it was dated back in November. It was saying how EHOME and other chinese teams weren’t participating in the Defense tournament, but I just looked at the teams participating in it this time around and EHOME is there. So I guess it was just me jumping the gun.

Yes you would like to fuck up their carry and not let him farm for shit. Yeah you can pick lion over silencer for am. But if AM has ES with wards Lion aint gonna get close to am since ES have a farther stun. Stop argueing about situational shit its pretty stupid. DOta is about imma counter your counter with my counter since you counter my counter with your counter. Dazzle also prevents Lion from killing AM but he might die in the process. Seriously Vulpes get those dragon dildos out of your elitist ass just because Galatic is giving some friendly advices and some lul’d out strats.
I’ve been a part of the DotA 2 beta for a month or so now. I haven’t played the game once. I’m too afraid to let my team down… It’s the same reason I don’t play LoL, HoN, or Super MNC (which I am also in the beta for).
As long as you actually try to play, you’re already better than 80% of the guys in either team.
Pick a Support Hero (Lich, Warlock, Crystal Maiden, Lion), buy a Courier at gamestart, upgrade it later,
and buy Wards (you have to learn like 6 spots to place) whenever you have 200g and they are in stock.
Carry a TP scroll and try to not die nonstop (if you do, it doesn’t really matter either). Get a thick skin.
Also there’s an Option to play against Bots (Play > Private Game > Create > Options > [x] Fill Empty Slots with Bots), so you can train.
I can also hop into a Practice Game with you (unrated, us two and with bots or without) and explain some stuff.
I normally dont read anything you say because its a huge wall of text… but my god i can not agree more with this. id say at least 90% of people i play with do not do not even do 1 of these things.
As someone who has played dota competitively at high usa levels in prior years, and hon to a lesser extent, i will say this:
Galactic is right , vulpes is wrong in the original argument comparing silencer and lion against magebane. I have no idea why galactic would spend so much time arguing with someone who has yet to show himself to actually play the game at a competent level.
I literally laughed out loud at some of vulpes statements. For that i thank you! I could break down your points and what not but i won’t. Because anyone with sense and experience @ this game would know you for what you are. If there is someone who really was reading there back and forth like i was , but is confused on the matter, send me a pm, and i’ll explain to you how good silencer actually is against mage.
Well initially I thought maybe he had some valid reasoning behind his arguments and I’m always interested in learning other points of view. As I saw the weak attempts he was making to defend his points I realized he was just talking out of his ass, (I rofl’d hard at “Honestly, how often is Omni laning with AM?”) so I ended the argument early. I’ve gotten into some long-ass debates about dota with people in the past, the small back and forth I allowed with him actually is relatively mild. I made my points, he made himself look stupid, and it was a wrap.
What a way to sound like a freagin prick and your wrong. Stop being such a hard headed dickwad because other people have better strats then you and have more experience over you. I dont even play dota competitively and i know your wrong. I scrim from time to time but i dont play in leagues or any bull shit.
Ah forget it, you’re obviously right and every competitive game with an AM features the opponents instantly counterpicking with Silencer since that guy makes AM cry all day.
Since you’re such highly competitive individuals with a load of knowledge which I will never be able to even remotely encompass, may one of you be so kind to answer my humble question?
