Can’t get a good game to save my life. Either get teamed with 1700 hon downies or go up against nadota stacks. And if I play in nadl I get 1700 hon retards that think they know how to play because they watch comp streams.
I play maybe 6 times a week now and only with friends. If I play with publics I don’t even bother giving advice, coordinating team fights, or calling for ganks. That shit is not worth the headache.

Soooo Galactic, you said early that obsidian was a counter to AM which is a little bit confusing to me since I thought the crux of Obsidian’s power was to have a big mana pool to deal pure damage. And since AM drains mana I didn’t really connect the dots. What was the rationale?

I’m not excited about every game I join having a first or second pick Lycan for the next two weeks, but I’m not really worried about Lone Druid, as most people are too derp to play him.
As I don’t feel like going through 8 pages to check, is there anywhere in this thread that there’s a list of Steam ID’s of the people playing DotA 2 currently? I’d love to get in some games where I actually know the players on my team as opposed to crossing my fingers and hoping they all speak English at least.
Well, the vast majority of AMs build Manta right now, because AM’s images drain your mana ridiculously fast. Obsidian’s orb attack does massive damage to illusions, thus only needing a few attacks to destroy both of Manta’s images, seriously crippling Manta’s usefulness.
AM actually has a pretty small HP pool. However, he is crazy hard to kill not just because of his blink, but his passive magic resist AND high armor rating due to his agility gain. Obsidian’s orb, however, does pure damage. Both AM’s magic resist and armor don’t mean shit to Destroyer.
Obsidian’s aura can replenish his mana over and over, as well as his teammate’s mana, further helping teammates stay effective in a team fight.
Finally, AM has low INT. Obsidian’s ult is directly effected by INT ranges. Obsidian can not only drain MORE of AM’s already small INT pool away with his banish ability, in more recent patches, you can hit enemies with Obsidian’s ult even while they are banished, so Obsidian can drain AM’s INT, CC him, AND simultaneously nuke him with his ult. If that doesn’t kill AM outright, he is seriously hurt and probably not interested in engaging in a teamfight.
It’s pretty scary playing against a good Destroyer if you’re AM. It pretty much forces AM to build a BKB, which is actually not a great item for AM and hurts his farm. But even when he DOES get that BKB, if Obsidian has a Eul’s, he can just wait out AM’s BKB by tornadoing and then banishing himself. It’s even better if you get a Ghost Scepter. Obsidian can still cast his orb attack in ethereal form while AM can’t do shit to him.

My favorite strategy with Lycan’s port in HoN was to rush that item and amass an army of creeps, then just backdoor at 50 minutes with an unstoppable rape train.
