Dormammu: Lord Of Chaos videos

I watched those too, and I agree with Mugestu. I had to laugh at Triforce saying Dormammu is getting nerfed and he’s happy about it in UMvC3. He’s in for a big surprise. You see how much he has to abuse Haggar to survive though, and even then he has to rush with Dormammu - it just goes to show how overpowered rushdown is in this game.

Yeah, I am now convinced Triforce doesn’t know what he’s talking about when it comes to this game, the amount of wrong calls was just too funny. Yeah Haggar was getting offered up as a sacrifice to protect Dorm lol, one of the reasons I try my best to get my opponent to waste meter if they have the ability to punish my zoning game. Gotta switch to rush mode if you can’t zone.

Interesting style with Mugetsu. Lots of Stalking Flares. Though I guess he could do it because he has Haggar assist.

It’s just scary to see a Dorm player just throw out Stalking Flare against Pixies and or characters with Tri-Jumps.

With my Morrigan team, it’s not quite so scary to throw out the Stalking Flares because if my opponent can get around the Flare, I can DHC to either Astral Vision (good for responding to something like Hyper Sentinel Force) or Shadow Servant (good for responding to something like Bionic Arm). Both of these let Stalking Flare hit, and I don’t “lose” meter because it’s countering my opponent. Astral Vision’s startup is reduced in UMvC3, and I wonder if it will be fast enough to respond to beam hypers and block them.

The angle that flare comes out makes if quite difficult to punish if you’re airbourne.

True, but the startup is so slow, I’m surprised I don’t see more players trying to punish full screen Stalking Flares.

Also I just watched the 2nd video in your post, holy god the commentary in that one is embarrassing.

Yeah they’re probably either scared of the flare, don’t think it’s woth the meter to punish, or straight up ignorant to the available options. Mags, Storm and Akuma can easily punish those. I think Magneto gets crappy damage off of punishing flare with shockwave though, so they probably want to save the meter.

Lol I know, face palm worthy.

Once the Flare is out it gobbles up most projectiles (Special and Supers) but people have to remember you can totally punish the startup. In that Matchup, (I believe) Storm can easily throw out Elemental Rage to punish the startup of the Flare, can’t she?

Also in terms of the commentary, helping out IPlayWinner.com with local sessions commentary, the number one rule I was taught was to never look at the chat, or talk to Stream Monsters. Talk to the person next to you about the match and go from there.

If only we had a thread that listed the results of every single interaction between a hyper and Stalking Flare. COUGH

Almost every character can stop Stalking Flare in some way unless the Flare is really close to them. Sometimes you just have to trip up the Flare. Like with Deadpool, I will superjump back as soon as the Flare starts up, let it come somewhat close to me, and then teleport c.L into Dormammu. Except for Haggar, I can’t think of any characters with absolutely no response to it.

:stuck_out_tongue:

sorry about my lack of vids, after my performance after evo I have been really rethinking my play style, but here is some recent stuff:

I didn’t feel to comfortable on that tv. I missed a few really simple things i.e.combos,x factor guard cancel.

this is the same tournament on a asus monitor.

Video 1:
If you’re going to do multiple Stalking Flares, you might as well cancel a Purification into one each time; it’s a little extra chip and meter.
Why not launch Akuma after you went to punish his beam via Mass Change?
Doom seems to be your weak link - you missed 4-5 backward air/ground throws against Akuma with him.
IMO, you can play Doom like a ghetto Magneto and trijump M a lot - it works beautifully.
It’s amazing how effective just Stalking Flare + Purification spam can be; I think your new playstyle is resembling the one I’m working toward; just burn the meter and kill what you can.

Video 2:
I like your Dante a lot.
Man, is everyone tier whoring like this these days? Your opponents. -_-
Hah, you are playing Dormammu very much how I play mine these days. I think it’s funny when people raw tag a character in to survive Stalking Flare chip damage - it’s EXACTLY what we want them to do.
I’m surprised you don’t use Jam Session.
You have the same bad habit I do - lots of UB airdashes. :stuck_out_tongue:

Video 3:
I notice that instead of taking combo opportunities with Dormammu, you’re playing it safe and canceling into Flame Carpet all the time. It’s both smart yet disappointing, because we really should have a way to hit confirm.

Video 4:
No time to watch right now, sorry! Looks like an interesting matchup though.

thanks for the advice

Hey guys, I just released a Spidey combo video:

You’re probably think why I’m posting it here, but 1 of the combos is actually a Dormammu combo that uses silly Spidey tricks in the middle of it. I should’ve gone for a 3D0C or a second consecutive 1D2C Liberation, but I didn’t think of it until I already unhooked all of my equipment. =( Sorry, Karst, it wasn’t the best I could do!

Also left a special shoutout for all y’all in the description for being so awesome!

I like it, well done!

You could have ended that Dorm combo with a 3D0C, Dark hole, Chaotic flame, s.L but it doesn’t matter, it’s still a flashy combo.

Yeah, I wanted to do just that, but I think it would’ve looked cooler if I ended it with:
Stalking Flare, 1D2C, 1D2C again, Flame Carpet/L Purification->Chaotic Flame

Regardless, I regret not thinking of it until after I was done recording it. =(

Nice combos - very fun to watch, and I like your taste in music.

Dormammu: Special Air/Exchange Combo

O: I like it. Is that our most damaging Exchange combo though, or is there something that we haven’t quite figure out yet?

IIRC, Ryan Hunter was connecting the downward TAC by going from Dark Hole to Dark Matter, then into Dark Hole, back into Chaotic Flame.
