Something like that. I remember being surprised that it worked, but I don’t have a video off-hand. He did it at a very recent tournament, like a Guard Crush or something similar. Maybe it was even our last WNF. I’m very bad at remembering things chronologically!

Thanks for posting your video.

-I noticed with Dormammu you throw out a lot of hail mary Chaotic Flames without really hit confirming into it. It’s highly punishable so you should stop doing that. If you want to chip out a character that can’t do too much against Dormammu’s zoning you have Purification and Stalking Flare amongst so many other tools.

-Watch when you charge Dark Spells. You tend to always go for a full charge when you can, instead of maybe getting 1-2 when you can safely, and eventually getting that third through zoning or rushdown. I used to do this early on when I played Dormammu too, until I got punished pretty hard for it when good players start reading your habits.

-You burn your Dark Spells too fast. They should be a threat. If a player knows you have a certain charge, they know their options are limited. At one point you had 0C3D charge but right when you got the third, you let it rip, at a distance She-Hulk could have punished if I’m not mistaken. I play my Dorm completely different, but I’ll either use 0C3D 3/4ths to full screen, or (when rushing down), use it to OTG/Add more damage to my combos.

-If you are going throw out Supers to put some distance between you and She-Hulk, throw out Stalking Flare. That way she either has to block the 20 hits, she’s going to get hit by it or (some) players for some reason try to weasel their way around it. Also more importantly with the Stalking Flare (safely) out you can get some Dark Spell charges in.

-There was a time you went for a Stalking Flare Teleport Mixup, when you could have just chipped them out mostly with Purification, leaving more hits remaining on your Stalking Flare for the character coming in. Remember Stalking Flare gets 20 hits, if it only takes X amount of hits to kill a character, the remaining hits move on to the next.

-These two points also applied greatly on one of the earlier matches of Tron V. Dormmamu with No X-Factor left for both. You kept trying to tag her or push her out with Chaotic Flame. When it’s an honest match Dorm Vs. Tron with no X-Factor for both, all of your meter (IMO) should be used for Stalking Flares. She can’t do shit about them and while she’s avoiding them or blocking, you get free 2C1D leading to more zoning, more meter building, more Flame Carpets and more Stalking Flares. Also 2C1D xx Stalking Flare causes so much block stun and so much chip, it’s a nightmare in that match. That matchup is hell for Tron (especially with No X-Factor) but it honestly didn’t look like it at all there.

Also I don’t play Dante, but wouldn’t Jam Session be better for that team? Wesker gets OTG, space control and a better Phoenix mixup, Dorm getting the OTG, space control and mid-screen 2C1D craziness mixups? (BigD would probably know the 2nd question better than I do)

The main Dormammu-based issues I noticed:

  1. You use 3D0C too much. You spend so much time building Dark Spells, and then it gets you nothing because your opponent is good at blocking and careful. Consider 1D2C against characters like She-Hulk. 3D0C is really better against characters like Taskmaster for when they try to zone you.

  2. Chaotic Flames everywhere for no reason, but it seems like you’re doing them because She-Hulk is close to you and you don’t know what to do, so you just push her away.

  3. Relates to #2: you never try to rush with Dormammu, and you’re facing characters he can do reasonably well against in such a setting. Dormammu doesn’t even have to be terribly scared of Tron since when done properly, he’s always cross-ing up and just gets her in the combo too.

  4. When Taskmaster uses any aerial Aim Master and misses, Mass Change M, air dash down-forward (i.e. toward him), and you get a free air throw.

  5. IIRC, you also tried to use the Flame Carpet setup on an incoming character, but you just Mass Change M’ed into a j.M. I think it’s best to downward airdash into j.H when you do this.

I think it’s cool that you play Captain America.

  1. At around 2 minutes in you try to Purification into Chaotic Flame the assist. If your opponent’s point character is not being hit for a while, assists become invulnerable. Be careful about this in the future, but nice catch.

  2. At 2:05 you go to teleport against Akuma. Akuma players already love random hypers; I think it’s best to teleport against them after jumping or superjumping, personally.

  3. At 2:45, you cut off Chaotic Flame very early and made the match take longer. Also, after Dr. Doom helps you relaunch with Molecular Shield, you can chain c.H into s.S for more damage and meter instead of going straight into the launcher.

  4. At 4:38, when Zero is getting hit by Stalking Flare, I think you may have been able to combo via Dark Matter or Mass Change H; at the very least, definitely into Chaotic Flame, and I think it would have been worth your time, especially with only Doom left after this.

A couple of thoughts:
0:55 You shouldn’t waste the mix up opportunities on the upcoming character, charging dark spells is good but you don’t need to charge all of them at the same time. You could have been easily punished by wesker.
1:41 Magneto: Those random lvl.1 are useless, just react to the gun shots with your level 3 then follow up.
3:30 If you want to save your xfactor use the lvl-3 to kill wesker, if you want to save meter use the xfactor. Do what you want but kill wesker :slight_smile:

You never call Mag’s assist with Dorm, consider changing your team order. Try Dante - jam session/Mag - Beam/Dorm - Dark hole, and learn Mag’s loops, you need those to build more meter!

This is purely for your Dormammu play style

  1. Use assists
  2. set up your stage, put down your fire carpets with conjunction of your enemies jumps, your assists, whifs etc.
  3. utilize the air space, you are getting locked down on the ground, Magneto, Dormammu PWN in the air
  4. snap in Haggar’s, Tron’s, Akuma’s, Spiderman’s, Phoenix’s and other super assists (sometimes Doom)
  5. Dormammu has an insanely powerful anti projectile normal, s.M is fast and so strong I believe it cancels all non- hyper projectiles minus missiles and puri-towers, learn to times these against every enemy
  6. learn to tri-jump with Dormammu, this is critical for every Dormammu that wants to win in faster pace matches
  7. Stalking flare against people who are trying to lame you out.

your Dante seems better than most and you Dorm is about average. but you really need to fill in his weak spots with strong assists, his teleports are not safe without set ups. your mag is sub par and unless you are willing to be cheap he will just be free,
