Oh, man. I loved this on Dreamcast. Tried to play it not so long ago. It’s beautiful but frustrating. No auto lock, slow and stogy… I hope they manage to balance what made the first so special with more modern game design.
I’ve put quit a few hours into the UMD version, and I haven’t noticed the weapon lag. It seems the same as switching weapons in PSP1 or PSU.
Started playing PSO on the Dreamcast, again.
Thanks, homos.
Let’s get a challenge mode group going. All about that ss-rank!
I believe that you just take more damage in Black Nanoblast. Also, you can friendly fire. Other than that, it works the same.
I would fucking boot a beast who killed me spamming attacks in a Nanoblast. And that’s only because I couldn’t gank him right back.
I downloaded Blue Burst again. I was surprised to find that my account still exists, which makes me happy because I have a lot of rare equipment.
pso owns grinding owns this owns
I am a huge PSO fan from the Dreamcast and even the gamecube days. Is the PSP version just like those games in a sense because if it is I will go out and buy it right nao. Plus I am hoping that this newly announced game is a true sequel to the original PSO:tup:
The continuing saga of GEVURAH, the God Beast, has officially started once again. I got the 2nd PSP today, and I’ve already imported the main man from part 1. Dr. Robotnik and my old character “Chojin” will be next. New customization options already look good, though a lot of the faces look the same. It’s rare that anyone sees a character’s face though. (*makes me wonder why they even put “eyelashes” in as an option…like someone is really going to see that? Please. What next, we’re going to pick the color of the peach-fuzz on a female character’s bootycheeks? Yeah, ok.)
Oh hell yeah…I’m already lovin’ the subtle changes to the combat with the dodge-roll and the shielding.

Been playing PSO lately… This is a bit late, but it’s a shame Trap Vision doesn’t always work right in the OG Dreamcast version. We could have avoided that entire Kayo Police thread.
Stuck playing Version 1 on the DC for the time being. But people should definitely get get some sort of SRK league going, either when PSO2 comes out, or on the schtHack servers.
friends and i made some chars on schthack server a few weeks ago for nostalgia’s sake
it was fun starting from scratch without a level 200 mag, all the mats, 4 slot armors, units, etc. its a completely different game when youre a weak lil shit and that 9 star rare is actually really damn nice compared to what youre using.
Thanks. I haven’t even read up on the password/item thing yet though…
I’ve only been playing on lunchbreaks at work lately; the new Gevurah is a mere level 9 beast so far, about to get that first nanoblast at level 10! I am also reminded now that a simple 15-minute break at work is NOT adequate Phantasy Star time. Anyway, I haven’t even made a 2nd character yet, nor have I gotten online with it.
*that green-haired french-speaking robot/cast is a hot one. Yeah, BONE-worthy for real…it’s a shame she isn’t real. When they eventually make real life robot women… I’d definitely put in an order for one that looks like that.
Those yellow guys that jump around and launch a fireball…those are some annoying little bastards sometimes. (*fireball attack; new? I don’t remember them having that ability in regular ol’ PSU) Heh, they are still no match for the godlike power of Gevurah, of course…(heh, oh you’re jumping away from me? Fine, catch these bullets then…little yellow chicken nugget looking chumps…)
I have quite a bit of reading to do concerning this game…there’s a surprising amount of complexity to it, and it’s been a long time since I even played the previous one.
Exam is awesome, btw. It’s definitely worth it to import your character just to get that sword…a nice bonus on top of getting to continue the adventures of my previous character, complete with his slick “formal wear” white outfit.
Info on the new Duman race from PSP2:Infinity Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity: Meet the Dumans Phantasy Star Fan Blog Yeah, I’m a few weeks behind on this info…Dumans look quite interesting so far, and that Infinity Blast ability looks awesome! I’m already thinking of some character ideas for that new race… I’m not even sure I can wait on this; an import may be necessary.
So, anyone who has played PSP or PSP2 knows the issues with DLC. For the US releases of both games, the DLC has been nixed and items that were only obtainable via DLC (as DLC themselves or through DLC missions) were added as drops in the game. Obviously, the items are not a huge issue because they are still there, but the DLC missions are the hardest missions in the game and US players have no chance to try them.
Well, it turns out this is not actually the case for PSP2. Apparently, the JPN DLC missions will work with the US version; the only issue is that all the text is in Japanese.
My brother and I have restarted playing PSO V1&2+ on Gamecube. Man that game is still a blast to play after all those years. He hasn’t been playing MMOs for a while now and when I told him PSO2 was coming he immediately got hyped and wanted to play PSO all over again. Woot!
PSO isn’t an MMO. No Phantasy Star game has ever been an MMO. PSO2 probably isn’t going to change that.
Dr. B’s natural stank is 120 times more effective than Axe commercials lie about Axe being.
Heh, all this time and I’ve just now passed chapter 2 in the story…that was a surprise to hear the music from the Jungle Mission stage from episode 2(GC/Xbox era)…it was one of my favorite themes. Also, the Poison Lillies are back! Unfortunately, it appears that Megid is STILL no longer a scary 1-shot threat? That is one of the only things I didn’t like about the first PSPortable…they removed the seriousness of Megid…it was no longer something to fear. (*basically, it just caused “Infection” status if I recall…NOT instant death or “incapacitation” as they like to say these days.) Anyway, Gevurah is level 12 now; Hunter level is 3.
The addiction has come back and is strong once again. I don’t even really want to play other games right now.
PSO fans who still haven’t played the new stuff---- they have some PSO clothes in the PSPortable games. There were some in the first game I remember, and they’re still here in part 2. I’ve seen the FOnewm hat (and I guess the rest of the outfit should still be in there), and the FOmar outfits, along with that headgear/outfit the RAmar wore. There are also some PSO enemies and areas. Come on, you know you cannot resist the lure of this greatness…you know you want it. It is pointless to resist this level of temptation.
*sidenote—buff spell/item effects continue to work in a beast’s transformed state. I forgot if it was this way in the first Portable, but it definitely works in part 2. I used a Shiftaride item (attack boost like the spell “Shifta”) and transformed…and the boost was still going on! How awesome is that?! haha, nice.
