Don's Arcade aka Astro City: Torrance/Carson Fridays 8pm-3am

I still regard myself as the ultimate cosmic champion as per my fight with Motempest (linc)

Till next week suckas

Whenever I decide to get off my ass and put in some effort with learning the game, as opposed to feeding a trolloping 20+ wins just to sit down and get a closer view of the SALTY RUN BACKS caused by Man Hands Trish, I’ll steal that title.

Learn Super Turbo.

GG’s last night. Thanks for hosting Don!

Sorry to the first guy I sat down with and played MvC with…I was a little short about it and jumped right over to SF.

I can hold up against Don, I’m good 'nuff at it. If more people played it there, I’d definitely play it more. Would probably bust out my fabled SF3 AE disc to play it there.

I’ve made the trip out to Don’s once, would definately make the drive up if I had people to play ST.

Granted I’m nothing to write home about in Turbo, but, playing Don in that for over an hour, and jumping to MVC3 and SSF4? Completely mind fucked myself. Never realized how much faster SF2 was in comparison to what followed in its tracks. Game is just stupid damaging fun. Emphasis on “stupid damaging,” but, more so on the “fun.”

sorry for missing out on yesterday Don! Will continue to try to make it and show my marvel “skills”

Anyone going to the fight for relief tourney?

Heading there today.

Was thinking about it, but, unfortunately I’m unable to. May possibly be heading to WNF instead, got a bit more free time now.

Great showing on WNF torrance people lol let’s get top 4. free soda to whoever gets there first.

I wish more people played ST competitively at my place but the players here gravitate towards the new games i.e. MVC3/SSF4. Last year there was a good 3S following but it since has dissipated. So the old game that would likely have a following at my place is 3S. For the other old school games, there are probably only one or two people who specialize in them and so it would be hard to get a good rotation going. Naked Snake, Dander, Symbolic, Sanchez, and myself are experienced 3S players. Galzpanic is really good at CVS2 and A3. I play A3 also. Mike who comes in once in a while and yourself are really the only persons I have trouble with in ST. Strider, NYN, and Dander are good at MVC2. Secret Character is probably the only person who really knows how to play Vampire Savior.

So it’s hard today to find people who are really into the old games. But there is plenty MVC3 and SSF4 competition at my place lol.

Well the future may look bright for 3S with 3SO coming out. And since 3SO is based on the arcade unblockable port, then maybe new players will get into 3S. I hope so. When 3S comes out I will have 3 to 4 setups available:)

Talking about older games…

How is the CvS2 comp? That is the game I am best at. I am “ok” at 3rd Strike, but I have a hard time with the combos so I normally just pick Hugo. I do pick up ST every now and then, but I mostly play HD Remix since that is newer. I play Boxer.

I been wanting to go to Don’s Arcade for the longest time, but I hear that all the comp seems to play SSF4 and MvC3. I will play those two as well, but I really like CvS2.

Galzpanic is probably the only CVS2 player who attends most of the time. He’s originally from Nor Cal and now lives here in So Cal. He has a lot of CVS2 Nor Cal experience. But he’s really the only regular who plays CVS2 who comes over these days. No one here can really compete against him. But join us and challenge him:)

Yes it’s true that Marvel 3 and SSF4 are the main comp here but there are nights when 3S gets heavy high level comp. Ironically MVC2 never got any comp here but when I put my machines out in the public that’s all that gets played. But I still have a MVC2 machine here.

Oh dang, Nor Cal player. I am probably not THAT good at it lol. I hold my own ok though against people at my school. I play a dude named JC Exclusive often in CvS2 at the arcade on campus and he is pretty good at it. Maybe I won’t do too bad

As far as MvC2 goes, I did play a bit but the speed of MvC3 fucked my game up lol. I will try to roll up there one of these days. I just have to make the effort to go there.

JC visited my place a couple of times. Real cool guy. But this was way before Galzpanic joined us. Ya CVS2 players have trouble finding comp at my place lol.

Only place I new where they played CVS2 in So Cal was FFA. Before in Cal State Long Beach before they had the flood with all the machines. Back in the day Alex Arcade use to have good CVS2 competition. They still have a CVS2 machine there as well.

i can play cvs2 okay but not on american sticks.

I learn well and now am determined to make it there this Friday or die trying!

Does this make us all fgc hipsters? We’re over here playing our vintage fighting games, and they’re trying to sell new games as vintage games by distressing the pant legs that are the fighting engine but we refuse and are looked at funny for doing so. Is this what is going on Don? I am scared now.

I have played all those old games but am only as good at them as fundamentals will allow. If there is a bit more needed to play well against people in those games it will take me a few games to figure it out, by watching you guys play of course. Vince come down this weekend, I’m sure we can drive from Joe’s or my pad. Quit being a bitch. 3s3s3smarvel3s3s3scvs23s3s3s3s3smvd33s3s3s3s3s3s3s3sblazet3s3s3s

I even know how to play bb and gg. Brawl and melee.
