Needs more SHE HULK.
MVC3 is definitely fun, and I can’t say I dislike it. I just think the game is a bit…how do you say? too… EASY. And I don’t mean “look at me I press buttons and win!” easy, I mean everything acts like an uppercut. I was playing my friend and I got a 2 character lead on him. At this point, it wouldn’t make sense for me for run away like a little bitch because he isn’t using a 5 meter Phoenix so I start heading towards him. I miss my skrull heavy grab as he’s coming in and I called in an assist to back me up just incase that did happen. I miss my grab, and my assist misses because deadpoo’ls katana attack isn’t far enough. Sure you could call that a player error and to tell you the truth I would too, but hear me out. I’m still recovering from that crappy air grab that missed and deadpool missed so he starts wailing on deadpool. To counter this, I cancel the grab’s recovery into Skrull inferno. He just does super before the first hit and goes through my attack. It’s cool at this point too because it’s just one hit, but fuck that, nuh uh, Capcom don’t care if you understand spacing and options and plan 3 or 4 steps ahead. NAH, Capcom lets him hit me and my assist and then let’s him X factor and super again to kill both my characters. I know it sounds real common place now that we are in a time of “MOOAR DAMGAE!!!” for entire games to end in 2 combos flat but 35% off of the initial super and then my assist taking half life and then both of them dying after the X factor is still only the beginning.
Add to that the fact that a lot of the “cross ups” in this game are call of duty head shot easy. just jump over em and push a button! CROSS UP SUCCESS. I swear Spencer chain grabbed over me and I walked under him knowing he would end up almost a character’s distance away from me and I still got hit by the cross up. Yeah, I could’ve blocked but he was almost a character’s distance BEHIND me, block shouldn’t even be a suggestion when he’s that far behind me. These “complaints” could just be Spencer specific but from what I heard, he’s the bottom of the top or top of the middle due to these traits. That would mean other characters have this and more.
Also, one hit should never grant you more than 15% off of a light, 20% off of a medium, and 30% off a fierce but that’s just me. I like working for my wins. Fuck nepotism. And fuck enemies when you got friend’s like Vince, I mean GASP.
As for the things I do like about the game,
I like super skrull, because he has good full screen mix up
I like Akuma, because he looks cool when does combos
I like Deadpool, mainly because he reminds me of me
I like Ammy because I like Okami
I like Zero because of what Saul and Marn do with him
I like that level with the big phoenix in the background, the one that looks like Sky World in Brawl.
I like how many wins I get on this game having only played it a handful of times
maybe the list will grow with more time.
I just want to be able to play a game where when a player is confused and doesn’t know what to do next, he blocks. Like really. If I just got two grab mix ups on you and go low the third time. I want to be able to say to myself “Okay, there’s a good chance he’s going to block because he wants to see what I’m going to do next so he can remember it for the next time”. But that’s just because I take the mind game aspect of these games so seriously. I could be alone in my sentiments though.
Imagine if he were to block after the third combo? I would have to either change my timing to not meaty on wake up but a fraction of a second after to beat the flinch. I might even have to dash back and give the other player the idea that I didn’t know what I was doing! That’s when the real game mind game starts. It isn’t mind games until you are at least 4 steps into it.
What are your thoughts on the game so far Don? Anything you don’t particularly like about the game? Anything you really do like about the game?

Also, is the guard break system the same on this game? I noticed some player using the Trish assist with Wesker on point to somehow “unblockable” a character entering the ring. I also heard someone say something along those lines when Wong used the Tron assist. It made no sense to me so I assumed that maybe there was something going on that I wasn’t aware of.

Ninja edit, just remembered my main reasoning for coming to post. Don, you wouldn’t happen to have any spare joystick parts around, would you? Specifically the stick, not buttons or the such.
To be honest I really don’t know Marvel at all. Like a lot of people I just like Marvel and I like how Capcom draws Marvel characters. The gameplay for MVC1, MVC2, and MVC3 looks all the same to me lol. I just wanted to know if you played it because I think you’d do well in it. You’re the only guy I know who can play MVC2 and 3S at a high level. That’s like rare. You should play MVC3. My guess is that if you were good at MVC2, you’d probably be good at MVC3. I don’t think it’s that absurd of a transition from 3S to SF4. Actually the transition from ST to SF4 is more appropriate.
But ya Lenin you should definitely try to get good at MVC3. Don’t be like me and just stick with the old games. Try to get good at the new games:)

Does anyone know if you can plug in a PS3 TE stick in your computer to run MAME? I want to play Super Mario Bros. on MAME without having to use the keyboard lol.

My PS3 stick works fine on my PC when I run ArcLive, but, keep in mind, mine is tri-modded for my needs. Last time I had checked into it, a 360 stick can work fine with no effort when plugged into a PC, but, the PS3 sticks on the other hand, you’d have to find the driver software.
I could be wrong on that, but, that is what I was going off of a while back when I had checked it out. Maybe I had bad information, maybe not!

Good fun learning SF2 a bit more and actually being able to KIND OF play it now. Still debating on what was more fun, that or the MVC3 shenanigans with the late money much just for the nonsense that it was.
Thank you all for joining me tonight and making it an event. We had sixteen people attend and it was really fun. You Marvel players are crazy lol. But I was impressed also because there was a good balance between SSF4 and MVC3.

I like witnessing the money match last night betwen two guys at MVC3. It started at $5 but kept snowballing. It started getting intense and serious. It was like watching a movie.
The thing about Marvel players is that they aren’t afraid to live on the edge lol. They’re culture is very high wire/high gear. They’re awesome.
Praise to Capcom for inventing the best two fighting game styles. Capcom has the best all out crazy fighting game as well as the most advanced technical chess like fighting game.
