BTW VF5FS failed because it’s community is 90% online only players.
I read on comments of that article that no one is hardly online to play VF5FS. Well on PSN anyway.
There’s a pretty strong online community for 3soe, so imagine if those guys were motivated to show up to offline tournaments? 3s could be back on main stage if there were better organization for the community.
As far as VF5 goes, it’s never really been that popular of a game here in the States. VF series was much better received in Japan and Europe, whereas the States will always be Capcom for life.
Tonight we shall have a gathering. Anyone and everyone is invited. The more the merrier. I’ll be going around to collect the E fee so please have it ready when I ask. Anyone new who wishes to join us please text me at 310 344 9367.
Anyone going to FFA tonight good luck. The Mayans will be joining me tonight to take me away. Hope to see y’all tonight.
I beat Gootecks in casuals at FFA. He was salty as fuck…and I relished in the sodium.
I asked him if he’d like to run a first to 5 for $50 bucks so that we could see who’s the better man (because my victory wasn’t sweet enough). He agreed, so we’re probably going to do that sometime in the future, something I’m sure he’ll stream. I’m not doing this for the money. I’m doing it to body my idol and to inflate my ego – this is how you build a legacy, gentlemen. He did give me some cool business tips though, and he’s an awesome guy to talk to once he’s out of competitive mode (I will never forget his face after I beat him with FULL SCREEN EX NECKBREAKER! Shit was like “really 12? U trollin’ gootecks on his turf like dat?” ).
That sounds like Gootecks.
Well, I know he’s challenged JR to a FT10 at Bar Fights this Sunday? I think? You can do it there I’m sure.
Nah, I have work I absolutely need to get through that day, and Grant and I are pretty drained from the FFA event as is. Gootecks just told me to hit him up on his twitter whenever I’m ready, so I’ll probably do that this coming week or the following one.
Mr.12 & KaraFail,
I would like to thank you both for your dedication and hard work. I would’ve loved to have you guys around a few years ago, no homo. Look forward to playing with you guys soon.
-has been to you. *
Similarly, I am the drfrijoles of SF3
Maybe there can only be 1 per game.
*Awesome you found your game for life, I mean no slights your way by paraphrasing or using your words.
Sick
- Sanchez Remy
"Sanchez’s Remy is really good" -Gootecks and Matt
Sanchez Alex, with special guest EX Shoulder Charge
Character selection hover- Look in my direction, quickly look away when I notice and immediately give him the nod, he doesn’t see my nod. The same thing happened on 12/15. Alex is kinda cross eyed in his character portrait… headgear over the eyes to have less time to react like Yun? -“Ryu Final” Manga
SA1 - shake hands accost him straight up, Good games man! - yeah GG’s (who are you?), nothin else. He was on the move or just not his usual self after the Gdam jungle Ken game.
SA2 - “This guy is my hero!” He tells Gootecks who I am? And thus Gootecks interviews me and points his mic to me so I can just say half the story all beat up sweaty like an NBA player after the game (… but that’s always the winner being interviewed, step it up commentary team, don’t listen to that Internet, they only yell at me and never talk to me anyway and don’t care about the whole story. Maybe the Internet should hear even less or just what they want to hear anyway. -Aris is sick, I said in his VF5 stream chat “you told that girl you were beautiful” and he repeated it to many laughs. Wolf’s “Being strong is~~ beautfiul~” classic voice acting winquote)
SA3 - His hero played like Marvel or something against him and did LK Tatsu, MK Tastu, HK Tatsu all back to back in a row. The last 2 were not timed right, trying to be crossup, make you lose charge… sideswitch block. “WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?!” or similar screams from that side of the head 2 head USA cabs. Grant came over to ask me about the jungaru, lol and I explained the above shouldn’t have worked because I wasn’t trying to even do that. But I guess you should never be disappointed you hit something, no matter how stupid, and just continue.
Remy Mirror, my LOV is out, but still have the FlashKick at the ready worked on someone finally (thanks for rushing me down w Remy), but I only LK Flash kicked probably and I stayed in that corner. And only fished for crLK x Flashkick. I want to throw bait, including walking and somehow stand Short or Forward x Flashkick one day. A “Gootecks shimmy” w Remy, if you will.
Fight for the Future - Words to KaraFail for his very direct 3s growth is awesome, kinda forgot that could be possible since Sanchez goes to Don’s too. Thanks Don, for providing the venue for such sessions and good luck with the move.
The Scientist, ColonelPop - If I remembered at all, was so tired, I wanted to ask about the last rKf video with the idea I had shown very well in the video showcase, except more straight forward and not crFierce pop & they fly in the opposite direction instead of staying on their side. Was that the known unknowns of the “midscreen its possible but very situational” StunGun Combo-into? But after the last love letter, not my love so that’s the problem perhaps, and got no response RSVP. No comprende. =(
Thanks for making the long trip down here. Hope you had a good time.
Btw, really sorry about stealing your chair for the most of the night. My body couldn’t handle standing up for long periods of time. Also, I figured you’d be sick of sitting down after that long train ride .
Oh yeah, that’s fine. I even stood up on the American cabs instead of the stool a few times.
My bad Mr.12 thinking you played Vinny. A lot of Purple Ken’s, way better than you see on the internet so when you see them not play good you never remember any purple Kens and I didn’t put any names to faces besides the one I fought. And he (mio right?) was sorta playing like Vinny possessed for Generals!
Did you play as Yun vs our side, me and KaraFail? Ran around to see who was Ibuki, and then I got caught only looking for crLK LP Raida several times I never skipped the pleasantries and Stand MK or (Fierce!) Raida raw after the first correct low parry against me.
Tomorrow we shall have a gathering from 7pm-4am. Everyone is invited. I don’t how many of these we have left in the Big House. So come over if you can.
Hope to see you tomorrow.

Yeah, I was the Yun and Ibuki player on the other side. I play everyone, but obviously I’m an Ibuki main. It’s like I’ve been telling Grant for the last month or so: if you’re going to play Ibuki, play her for two reasons: raida and SA1 chip. Baiting, mix-ups, footsies, 50/50 vortex into stun (I hit Gootecks with that at FFA), and tech traps are all she’s good for, so that’s all I ever do. Otherwise I would go with my Yang if I want to play a stronger damage/whiff punish game, which I’ve ever only switched to in a tournament setting against Sanchez.
I’ve played Mio before the whole 3v3 thing, actually. I think he and I tied in wins towards the end of our sets, but that’s largely due to me not playing my main throughout most of that since I don’t like playing Ibuki nonstop to win my battles. I do regret the last decision I made in the match he and I had during the 3v3. Haunts me every friggin’ night.
Will there still be traffic hell from the people flooding the streets to check out the lights decoration? If so, that may be a deal breaker for me.
Till New Years. If you do come over I’ll give you a free coke or two. Hopefully ill have a couple more in The Big House after New Year but I’m not sure. Trying to milk it as much as possible.

GGs guys. It was a fun night. You know, the more I play CvS2, the more I regret not experiencing it sooner. I like it. A lot. Slowly becoming a favorite of mine over 3S (yeah-yeah with the “12’s a traitor! F’em!” rebuttals. I play 3S religiously, so after 1000+ hours of it, I think I’m entitled to have a new favorite for a while.). Only gripe I have is that the community for CvS2 isn’t quite as stable in SoCal compared to the 3S scene. Moreover, I doubt Capcom will design another game that flows like it. I just want a game where footsies matter, meter management matters, wake-up options favor the attacker, I have a bloody walk speed, and my ability to win is 1-to-1. I know I just described KOF 13, but personally, the HD system wasn’t my cup of tea (aside from Leona juggles – those are sick as all fuck to do ).
I also don’t understand why CVS2 scene isn’t as strong as it once was. A lot of it is that a lot of arcades have shut down, and a majority of the CVS2 players either live far away from each other, or the top players have moved on to modern games. I got a buddy of mine who’s really into CVS2, and he took part in the CVS2 tourney that ran during the Arcade Relief thing at FFA, and I think they had a solid 16 people, who were all very good at CVS2. Hopefully, with CVS2:HD coming out sometime in the near year, it’ll help re-vamp the competition, and make it a solid side tournament game again.
KOF13 is fun, and pretty, but pretty complicated to learn for new players. I also strongly dislike modern games that requires you to do your homework and research, and a LOT of training mode time, before you can even consider playing the game at a basic competitive level. KOF is very much that.
I’d dedicate much more time to Alpha 2, Alpha 3, and CVS2, if there were live scenes for it with tournaments going on. I have a strange love for old-school fighting games with small or dead communities.
Because with ambitious games like ST, 3S, CVS2, A2, A3, and VS Capcom treated players like they were geniuses. These games have such a wealth of information for players to figure out that Capcom wanted to raise the bar and make players feel like they were Ph.D scholars. Capcom tried to give us sophistication and class. Capcom wanted us to be brilliant. That’s why the company left us for ten years and left us shooting zombies with Resident Evil. They were disappointed that we couldn’t evolve and raise our IQ’s. They were sad that we had no will to learn. So when Capcom returned in 2009 they treated us like how we wanted to be treated. They treated us like the pre-schoolers we were. They gave us our baby formula because they knew that’s all we could chew on.
So the fighting game Renaissance of 2009 isn’t really a Renaissance. It’s a return to the eternal crib where we belong. Where every new game is either a baby rattler, a bouncer, or an activity walker. Now all we are is a bunch of loud brats who play half-brain games because we like the pretty colors. When we go to the library we’re suppose to be reading Shakespeare but all I see today is people reading Dr. Seuss.
What will it take for us to figure out Hamlet when we’re stuck on Green Eggs and Ham? I don’t know. I guess it’s just luck that a population of the FGC actually was smart enough to figure out ST, 3S, CVS2, A2, A3, and VS. It took a while but some of us got there. But like they say evolution is just really about luck.
