Last week when I went to bar Fights, I was hanging with the Southtown Syndicate folks: JC, Forti, Muffin Man and Willy. I was invited to Muffin Mans home and we played until 2:30 AM. They love dat CvS2. Forti won at that FFA tournament.
What surprised me though is how much they liked SF x Tekken. They explained that it was the closest thing to CvS2 they will have. The poking game, the juggles, it seemed like a strange comparison at first but it did kinda make sense.
I got wrecked in both games, but they were impressed with my SF4 skills. Cody block strings are the best!
Oh you met up with Muffin Man. How cool! He’s the guy who’s in charge of running our ST tournaments. In fact, I’m heading over to his house on Sunday for some ST. We gotta train up before Socal Regionals. But yeah, CVS2 is his first-love game.
SFxT feels similar to CVS2. I always tell people that SFxT is like CVS1. Full of some really cool and interesting ideas, but completely lacks polish and refinement. That’s why Capcom works so hard to patch SFxT to make it like CVS2. But beyond that, the game is just really boring to me. I was hoping it would be more like ST, since it was much more focused on the ground game, but after messing around with it, it’s just another hit confirm fighter. It’s not even true footsies, it’s doing hit confirm pokes into 30% combos.
See, but that’s why I didn’t like Alpha 3 with V-ism, either. I can appreciate those systems, but they’re personally not for me (I play K-groove in CvS2 almost exclusively).
Hey Don sorry i wasn’t able to attend your gathering pare. Just wanted to say Thankyou for the years you’ve hosted at your house. and Happy New Year btw pare…
Tonight we shall have a gathering. Anyone and everyone is invited. All are welcomed. The more the merrier. I’ll be going around to collect the E fee so please have it ready when I ask for it. Anyone new who wishes to join us please text me at 310 344 9367.
The no lights part may have just sold me on it tonight. I’ll probably swing by at my usual lateness hour if I go, all a matter if I’m still playing LoL or DOTA. :]
Might be useless to ask, but do you guys play Tekken Tag 2?
I been bored with fighting games lately; particularly the 2D kind. I bought TTT2 as an impulse buy on Black Friday and I just opened it a few days ago. It is a fun game, I suck hard at it but I wouldn’t mind learning.
I bought it day one, don’t play it as much, but I still think it’s well worth the price. Super fun and enjoyable just from a pick up and go stand point for me, and if you ever want to break down the science in it there is a lot to study. It’s win win. I haven’t played it at all lately to really be fluid with my Miguel, but if I ever had a reason to pick it up in the future, I’d be all over it.
Wtf, was he foreign? Not knowing who Mario is is like not knowing who Mickey Mouse is. I think at one point, Mario was even more famous than Mickey Mouse. How is that possible?
Clearly he is a disturbed individual and should not be trusted. That’s a definite red flag. You don’t want to be around a guy who doesn’t know Super Mario Bros., how interesting could he possibly be?
I heard something interesting today. Someone told me that KOFXIII is known as the “Honest Fighting Game” today. It was because it didn’t have a comeback system like Ultras and Xfactors.
I was thinking if by some miracle they made a AE 2013 update and took out the Ultras, it would turn everything upside down. I seriously would be way better at AE if there were no Ultras. In fact Ultras are the main reason I lose lol in AE.
So Capcom take out Ultras in AE 2013. I wonder what would’ve happen if you were at least able to disable Ultras ever since Vanilla. Would the FGC tournament scene play with or without Ultras?
