I’d be pretty content with SF2 though if we can get that in. Having to learn 3 characters for CVS2 is a turn off

No worries KaraFail. Actually everybody left at 2:00 am and since no one was there I closed early so I was actually worried you’d come back and see everything was turned off and everyone was gone lol. It worked out for both of us.
Thank you everyone for showing up. We had eleven people. Funny thing was that aside from two people we had a totally different group than what we had last week lol. That was cool. This place is so random now but I like the spontaetity. It keeps things fresh. Some great SSF4 and Super Turbo competition last Friday. For ST we had Papercut, El Trouble and Millertime join us. Papercut T. Hawk is sick. He can do the 360 and 720 like nothing. And Karafail: After being gone for a while he came back a beast in 3S. He was doing Makoto’s 100% combo like nothing. It was perfect. I was amazed. It’s like you have close to full strength and when you got caught you knew it was over. It was like Marvel.

I’m on the fence right now about picking up a new game. 3rd Strike CLEARLY dominates my brain 24/7, but it would be nice to have a little side game that I can play in the front with other people, sometimes. SSF4 is okay…though it’s the polar opposite of 3s in a lot of ways. I can see myself being a Marvel player. I have the execution chops for it. Do you guys have any recommendations, or should I be that guy who only plays 3s like an indoctrinated religious fanatic (nothing wrong with worshiping 3s – just sayin’)?

If you’re trying to avoid being “THAT GUY” I think you already ARE that guy. :]
Stick with 3S obviously but if you want to branch out go with UMVC3 and/or SSF4 AEv12. Those never go out of style with the community. Those games have strong legs. They will be played for a long time by a lot of ppl. I suggest you learn both game. Particularly develop a Sako-like Ibuki in SF4.
