Does What a Spider Can! UMvC3 Spidey Combo Thread

Need some input here guys , i currently run spidey viper doom i have web ball ,seismo and missiles as their assist im debating if i should switch missiles to plasma since it benefits viper a ton… spidey still has the otg seismo and i can do a clean 727 with one bar and that assist, any suggestions on what i should do?

Being one of the only guys around here that despises missiles, I’d suggest going with Plasma Beam. You’re still able to get 900k off of one bar using both assists, due to the wonderful fact that you can still easily get a cross up spider sting in the corner using Plasma Beam, granting you two spider stings and two web throws at the end of your combo (or one web throw if you prefer to go into crawler assault). With two bars, you can get 1.094M if you go into Crawler Assault to Burst Time and 1.11M if you go two web throws into Maximum Spider into Burst Time.

Plasma Beam is also just an overall better assist because of the easy pickups it provides while also granting the point character a strong space-controlling assist (and minor lockdown). Hidden Missiles is just a combo extender that provides situational lockdown. It also puts Doom in further danger since he’s on screen for a much longer time.

Never go for missiles unless your other character greatly benefits from it.

Here are some chars which I think are effective with missiles and point Spidey: Hawkeye, Hulk, Thor, Taskmaster, Dr. Strange (depends on how you play as beam works well with all teleport chars), Magneto, Morrigan and Ghost Rider (beam works well with him also). There are probably more. The reason why they work good is because they can either cover Doom, fill the screen with stuff or call Doom assist higher than normal jump height. These guys also have decent DHC from MS. Aside from those mentioned, plasma beam may be better off used.

Oh ho ho, I’ve already come up with stuff. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Was considering picking up Doom in emergency prep for Power Up, but I just decided to stick with Team “Ben Franklin and the Nova Force”. I think I might actually upload some stuff you can do with Plasma Beam tonight…

Edit: Messed around with Spidey/Vergil(Rapid Slash)/Wesker today. All I can say is that the team is fun as hell, and connecting a full screen Rapid Slash into :l: Web throw is SOOOO satisfying.

Hey y’all, just had a few questions regarding spiderman in general.

  1. is he a meter depending character, or can be get good meterless damage
  2. is he a heavy execution character ? Could y’all relate the difficulty of his combos to any other character ?
  3. does he build meter well ?
  4. what are his ideal midscreen and corner bnbs ?

Hi! I’ll try to give you a breakdown.

  1. He’s not dependent on meter at all. As for damage, he’s no Hulk but he can dish pretty good damage especially if you start from raw web throws and/or have a good choice of assists

  2. Most of his important moves require a DP motion (for web swing and spider sting). If you’re fine with that, his damaging combos (web zip OTG) require a bit of strict timing. TK and kara motions are just icing.

  3. Not really. Depending on how long your combo is, he can build about a bar to a bar and a half from a c:l:. I have a video with Spidey, Doom and Dante getting over 1M damage starting from a Spidey c:l: from anywhere in the screen. The combo builds enough meters for a million dollars DHCed into either MS or CA from zero bars.

  4. These combos depend on mostly on your choice of assists. Check the previous pages and the video thread to have some ideas, you can also check out my sig.:smiley:

  1. not exactly meter dependent, but he needs to use the meter he builds for his own combos usually
  2. pretty execution heavy. one of the tougher characters for execution, especially his best combos
  3. builds good meter, but usually uses it for his own combos
  4. other people than me have better combos

And he’s obviously best used as a point character I’m assuiming…and given the information I got back, I’m also assuming he wouldn’t fit well with phoenix

Not ideal and I’ve honestly never tried, but I think it could work, especially if you can make Phoenix’s assists extend your combos.

Do you know off the top of your head how much meterless damage he can swing ? I would check but I’m on my phone right now and am a little busy to look uP combos lol

Probably 700k give or take for combos without a hyper ending and with a decent combo extender.

Did around 690k+ with missiles, probably more with a kara setup; but then you’d be using Spidey, Doom and Phoenix which should probably work better with point Maggy instead. If you’re patient and want to be annoying, you can just wall cling, up zip while calling Doom from SJ height until you fill around 4 bars. You can also switch Doom with RR for cross up log traps which acts like a pseudo Kusoru set up.

I tried using Phoenix’s assists to extend combos and I was unsuccessful with the only practical one (TK Overdrive). They flip out wayyyy too early.

Using kara setups gets you to bout 800k or so assuming you use a full combo.

As for the super comparisons MS only was stronger than CA in a few combos by 4 to 7k equal on two and weaker by up to 20k on most the shorter combos

Hey guys, I’m feeling a little lazy. What’s your best UWT combos? Been doing Super Scatter Shot xx UWT for people jumping at Clint and it’s simple but effective. Feel really dumb for not doing it earlier tbh, despite me doing that TAC reset with those two all the time :lol

I’d check the frame data if I had the guide because it’s really solid anti-air/space control and seems pretty damn fast.

I think there’s hardly any difference between corner and mid-screen combos for Spidey. Just browse through some back pages, they’re all there. Also, Spidey is character you build a team with so most of his combos will depend on which assists he has. Check out iNerd’s bnb a few pages back, it’s easy to do, does decent damage and works with a number of assist types.

i would love to see some of the combos you came up with Quick work assist since i still have trouble connecting anything after it while in mid combo. ive only managed to connect web-zip OTG to quickwork once or twice but the timing is really strict and not reliable for competitive play.
