Does What a Spider Can! UMvC3 Spidey Combo Thread

Let me try. My opinions below.

  1. All the execution you need becomes easy and become natural as you practice.
  2. Pure runaway and bits of rushdown, spacing and zoning.
  3. One for getting Spidey in or allowing him to get a chance to start a combo and a combo extender.
  4. Check the combo thread. Basic = swings and stings. Advanced = swings, stings, throws and zips.
  5. Web throw? Dash :l: or :m: to BnBs? I’m quite unfamiliar with Trish and her assists.
  6. Use SJ, air dashes, web zips, web swings.
  7. Learn zip combos and hit confirms. Check vids and posts in the other thread to get ideas on how to do them.

Being a little lazy may be one problem if you try to use Spidey as he takes quite a bit of work to make effective. :smiley:

I wouldn’t necessarily call it runaway; It’s not pure rushdown or pure runaway but pure *mobility, *where Spider-man is “scouting” the stage so that he can either find an opening on his own or force the opponent to commit to something that Spider-man create an opening with. Spider-man doesn’t accomplish much besides running the clock down if he runs away, due to his very low-damaging projectiles, and he doesn’t have one blockstring that safely covers all options to promote 100% rushdown.

However, we do have the tools necessary to runaway in order to time out things like power-up supers, X-Factor, and simply just running out the clock. Also, after a combo, if the Spider-man player has a strong lockdown assist, which I feel is vital, Spider-man can always choose to end his combo in the corner, where he can apply a lockdown assist in order to go H.A.M. on the opponent with some mean-ass rushdown through high/low mixups.

I wouldn’t say pure mobility as his air movement has lots of limitations. Anyway, I didn’t literally mean pure runaway, it’s a play of words in response to his pure rushdown.

i was just answering the question of ranking the execution requirements of the characters.

by the way, chun is pretty bad, near unplayable
i would say spiderman is playable, and viable
viper is highly viable

I thank the Spidermen in here for giving me ideas on combos.

Sowing in web throws has increased my damage from ~600K to ~750K with no assist and 1 bar of meter.

I know I can do more but kara sting and web throws after spider sting L is quite annoying to do. Thanks again. :slight_smile:

Notes:

    • Survival Techniques and DHC’s can be thrown on at the end if you have the meter to spare and need the opponent dead

^ - The Side Exchange can be done mid-screen, in which case Frank will start with j.:m: j.:h: into the Plunger Loop and then end with Knee Drop :)d: + :h:)

~ - The Up and Down Exchanges can also be done mid-screen, in which case Frank will do the same thing as if he’s Side Exchanging mid-screen. However, when in the corner, do note that Frank will want to replace the third :l: Tools of Survival with a :m: Tools of Survival during up or down exchanges so that the wall bounce is used up, allowing Spider-man to combo after a Crawler Assault --DHC’d into from Survival Techniques-- using back dash :a1: (Shopping Cart) jump :ub:, :df: Web Zip j.:s: land :h: Web Throw SJ Maximum Spider, which will kill Thor!

` - This is just noting that Crawler Assault in this specific combo will not wall bounce, which ironically allows Spider-man to continue the combo in the corner with the extension mentioned above in the “~” Note.

Additional Notes:

  • When launching with :s: after c.:h:, *always *SJC directly upwards instead of up-forward, due to the orientation of some character’s bodies causing Spider-man to cross under and behind them in this situation. Also, connect the j.:m: after the :s: as soon as possible, due to the awkwardness of some character’s hurtboxes, such as Wolverine, increasing the chance of Spider-man’s j.:s: post Web Swing to whiff.

  • When Frank goes for the Snapshot while calling Jam Session, be sure to perform the snapshot IMMEDIATELY after you call Dante!!! It’s only then will you have enough time to get two Snapshots before the opponent flips out!

Web swing or web throw? Anyway, most web throws I can do consistently is 9 in one combo. You can add 1 more to your combo if you don’t wave dash before the gamma wave assist. You can also add more damage by using :l: web throws instead of :m: ones in about 2 or 3 or those you used. For the 9th one, you’d have to do a kara sting. You may even get a 10th one if you get to luckily do the wall bounce web throw glitch.

Did you try dashing under again? Looks like you have room. If you can get that plus a kara sting setup you should get about 3 or 4 more web throws.

You would have to change when you call your assist and when you do spider stingbut you should be able to dash under the opponent twice then instead of dashing forward call hulk get a web throw back to the corner, kara sting get another web throw off the spider sting/bite back to the corner then web throw out the corner into MS

Thanks. I’m taking a small break from actually doing anything as I’m practicing for a tournament while handling life stuff. As for kara stings it all depends on you. It’s ideal to use it when near the corner. It’s something you want to practice but once you get it down you can start adding a lot of damage to combos.
