Does What a Spider Can! UMvC3 Spidey Combo Thread

i know the raw spider sting is hard to do on a standing opponent but im doing it on a jumping dummy so there airbourne when it connects to practicise the timing of following up with a web throw

speaking of spider sting/bite, what is the best option after landing a raw hit? well, not even the “best” option, but some of them. ive been doing raw spider sting/bite, c.H, L web swing, j.M, j.M, j.S, s.H, M web throw, dash/air dash,(dark hole assist), OTG webzip, j.H, s.H, M web throw, dash/air dash,(wesker OTG assist), M web throw, TK MS.

it just seems that right now i land quite a bit of these raw spider stings in a match and would like to be able to get the most damage i can off of it.

oh its j.M right after the jump. I was trying j.H the whole time and eventually gave up and played online lol.

I use j.M to stay close to the ground, also sometimes when i do web zip the characters switch sides which could lead to different variations of the combo

do you think if you used j. L you would be even closer to the ground?

I doubt it; although j.:l: comes out sooner than j.:m:, it does not have any sort of hitbox extending in the up-forward direction. j.:m: actually hits above Spider-man’s head, which allows him to stop the launch’s momentum sooner.

Hi, I am completely new to Spiderman and I started playing him recently with this team: Spiderman (Web Ball), Dante (Jam Session), Doom (Hidden Missile).

I find the timing on his combos really tight and I have a few problems with the web zip otg combos, especially after web throw and ultimate web throw. Firstly the web zip doesn’t always connect, is there a way to kind of aim it? Secondly, I don’t know the timing for the jump attack to hit after web zip otgs, and when it does I couldn’t combo into a ground chain. Another thing I want to ask is how do you get two web throws in the corner after the Doom missile otg? I could only get one (h or l) web throw, because he didn’t throw him back into the corner.

One step at a time. First work on your solo spiderman and don’t worry about the double web throws with Doom just yet. Im assuming you can perform the basic combos so from there work on throwing web throws into the mix. As hit stun increases the web zips otg properties change. If you web throw and follow up early on in a combo you can use j:h: to continue. Later in combos only j:s: will combo allowing follow up. In both cases press the attack button as soon as web zip is about to connect. This should offset reaction time allowing you to connect and get the hang of the timing. Of course the next thing after that is to keep practicing until you are consistent with it. You need to learn this to learn the double web throws with Doom

So Richard Nguyen … he uses Spidey/Dante/Vergil? This is the team I would like to use, but I can’t seem to find any videos of him playing this team.

Also, does anyone have any tips incorporating these assists into combos? I run Dante with Jam Session and Vergil with Rapid Slashes. I can catch people with Jam Session, then web throw-L or MS, but that’s about the only use I’ve found, and obviously it’s not really useful for drawing out combos and doing damage. I am new to the game in general so any help would be appreciated.

When combo’ing with Dante’s Jam Session you want to do a simple jump :df: OTG web zip after a hard knockdown, but call Dante right before you zip down. Vergil, on the other hand, has a bit slower startup and requires you to call him later. If you are familiar with the swing zip tech (whiff :l: Web Swing and cancel into :df: OTG Web Zip ASAP so that you can get those awkward angles), you will have an easier time learning the timing for the assist then OTG. Rapid Slashes has about the same startup as Dormammu’s Dark Hole and Nova’s Centurion Rush assists, so check out my most recent videos to get a good idea of what it will look like.

Can anyone please start working on some spiderman xfactor combos…

I’m a noob trying to learn the ropes and I think this really holds me / a lot of spiderman players back.

Web throw doesn’t work on Happy birthdays. And sometimes you land an important touch on an opponent I’m not exactly sure how to x-factor and take care of the job quickly without wasting even more resources like dhc, then x-factor.

current team is spider / task / dorm

It really isn’t holding anyone back. Spider-man doesn’t benefit much off of level 1 X-Factor because web throw wastes too much time (and that’s where his highest damage potential resides, atm), so there’s really no reason to explore it.

If you’re looking for Happy Birthday combos, venture back to the vanilla days and just do the simple-ass double web swing combos! They pretty much always carry to the corner, so you can end with :h: Spider Sting~:h: land c.:h: xx :l: Spider Sting xx Crawler Assault, then DHC to Chaotic Flame (because you’re really hurting your team’s potential for not exploiting the hell out of Spider-man/Dormammu synergy! on top of that, Task arrows would make Dormammu SCARY). If you need to kill someone like Hulk or Thor or the like that’s in the back, you could X-Factor cancel the :l: Spider Sting and go into Crawler Assault from there.

Edit: Honestly, if you really know what’s holding Spider-man players back, it’s all this web ball web zip bullshit; no one seems to be venturing outside of this little auto-pilot strategy just because it has basically assumed the role of his vanilla air dash (and guess what held everyone back in Vanilla!!!) You may think it works because it takes forever for Spidey to get hit, but… Spidey’s just really hard to hit.

I can do most basic combos like Spider Swing jump loops without much problem. But I just couldn’t get the web throw into web zip otg combos to work, it always seems to miss after the air dash:(

Web zip as an otg has multiple properties to it that make it unique. He can self otg and combo with it using no assist but changes as the combo goes on. The longer the combo the more it changes. After Spidey can’t combo off it solo anymore it turns into a Wolverine like otg where an assist is needed to continue the combo. Then at the end of all that it turns into a Wesker like otg that instantly resets them because hit stun is too high allowing mixups. These are things to remember about it when using it in your combos.

for the Spiderman/Virgil Team: Rapidslash assist can be combo’ed into webthrow from fullscreen, so you just have to be sure your opponent is grounded and call assist+webthrow=combo, if they block the assist your safe since its pushes them to the corner.

So far I concentrated on inflicting as much dmg as possible with every combo. I never got to the point where they recover so fast. do you already have mixups?
And I saw one of your Salt Mines Sets in which you did a cool UWT combo (I think on sentinel) (…)spidersting/bite > c.M > c.H xx L web ball UWT otg webzip(…)
Whats the exact notation for that setup and how tight do you think it is?
