I think he means cr(ouch) jab and short, cuz that walk up LP LK (blocked) is written like the Dudley 3s SRK wiki. LK-MK Target combo, (WAIT) SUPER. Yo, what.
now to get OE guys to try to stop “learning” from JR and only JR. Johnny Appleseed pherai > pherai-sama by appointment only
I’ve been playing on GGPO for only two days and I have *majorly *improved in every way. I don’t know what it is but I have never parried so much in my life. Not that parrying = good (yes it does. jab your opponent and proceed to parry everything until the round is over) but whatever.
I’m not even kidding when I say this… The 2 posts I’ve quoted have been absolutely fucking stupid. Where did they come from? This is some next level trolling or some shit because I am so lost.
And I thought I was a good troll. The way people rage at me on here I thought I was easily top 5. I can’t even touch these guys.
What the fuck are you two so confused about? Are you serious?
Is it hard to believe or something? What exactly is stupid about my post? That it’s only been two days or that is was done via GGPO?
Did you actually believe my parrying joke? Or was it that I said, “yeah I actually parry things now”? Shut the fuck up and stop acting like a dickmanager over a fucking video-game, you dweebs.
inb4 “lol ur mad” because I cursed and you can’t think of anything else more constructive to say. Eat all of my shit, though. Attitudes like yours are why people don’t reply to your texts or invite you anywhere.
Im not confused at all. I just thought that part was kinda funny. You must have only played on oe previously if ggpo is making you better. No need for you to get so defensive =(
No shit I’ve only played on OE before. No one in Ohio plays 3S in real life, apparently. I’ve asked a local meetup to and I got laughed at.
In fact, they acted exactly like you did: wanna-be elite herb over a game. “lol.” “Dead strike”, etc.
So if you’d like to point me in a direction in Columbus, Ohio I could go to so I can get better in a more acceptable way for you (because I only play games to please you and every other 3S fanatic), pleeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaase tell me. It would be so sick.
I’ve gotten several of my friends into the game (“into” as in they will play it if I ask them to whenever I’m over) but most of them can’t grasp the concept of a half-circle motion. Actually, only one person knows how to do supers and all that.
When I got Marvel 3, I told them it would be a lot easier for them to play. “Here, all you have to do is press these buttons in a row for a quick combo. It works in the air too. To do your super, it’s just QCF and two attack buttons” (Obviously I was showing them the motions/buttons on the stick). They nodded and proceeded to button mash…
And I’m not mad at all. It’s just the elitist mentality some people have over a game is hilarious.
I suppose I could try to start something in my neighborhood but most people lose two times and quit. A lot of people don’t care to learn, especially with “an old game” like 3rd Strike. They want to play to win without putting in effort to do so. Usually when I try getting someone new to play, the first thing they comment on is the graphics. And if I use the same move twice? Oh god.
Anyway, it’s dope you’re trying to start your own scene. Hopefully you eventually get a stream going so I can watch.
The thing I’m confused about is you agreed to something that really isn’t beneficial at all to 3rd Strike. It’s a game where you play the player most of the time and not the character. Training mode might help with a little execution and a little hit confirming, but in all honesty that’s it. There is no tactic learning in 3S because the game is constantly shifting depending on meter, corners, hitboxes etc.
But that is essentially what I was saying…or at least trying to say. PSN isn’t filled with the most smartest of players (definitely not saying I’m a smart player NOR am I saying GGPO is filled with them).
What I meant was, only a handful of times on OE was I forced to play a different way and actually think while playing. However, I get on GGPO for two days and each person I play forces me to think, react and generally play completely differently. I’ve been playing OE since December, so only having to change up my style a handful of times is a little ridiculous. But I get on GGPO and I’m constantly learning things.
I suppose I should have worded things differently.
it sounds like these people aren’t all that familiar with fighting games hexsells.
i would find a game they specifically think is cool to learn about fighting games with.
we were all terrible and just mashed at one point. at some point you find a game you actually want to play well. that can be for different reasons. i think the biggest motivator is a group of friends playing the same game. so try to find something you all like and have fun with. as soon as a person isn’t mashing it means they’re thinking about what they’re doing. so if you can get your friends to that stage you got over the largest hurdle.
pick a game none of you know maybe. the vampire games are a lot of fun, mechanically pretty simple and have fun/cool characters. just don’t focus on playing well so much as the having awesome battles. once someone is having fun they will start thinking about the game more and usually improvement follows.
I’ve tried that as well (that’s why I got Marvel 3 in the first place). Sometimes they show like they want to improve but most of the time, they’re too focused on trying to beat me just for the sake of saying they beat me. I try to not play as if they know what they’re doing but they notice and that actually pisses them off. The issue is, they don’t have the passion for it. I’m glad they play at all, though…especially as much as they do.
Unfortunately, I think this is the problem. If you’re a very passionate person in general, brace yourself for more such disappointments in the future. Thank God for the Internet, at least.
I’d like to say I’m pretty passionate about 3S, which is why I’m perfectly fine and 100% happy with them at LEAST playing, despite their skill levels. I use the time I have playing them to try things I’ve been practicing and practice combos on a moving target. So, I still get a lot out of it. Plus, playing them with a dropped handicap is beyond fun.
