Does Ken REALLY = 3rd Strike?

I learned Yang first (40 something best on xbox live leaderboards) then moved to Urien so I have someone for matchups i’m uncomfortable with

too many mind.

I would say Ken is favorable to learn 3S. You learn hit confirms and you have punishments for everything and to effectively build meter on kill etc is extremely basic with him. Fundamentally he is a great character, and as stated, he makes you work for your wins. He teaches you the value of hitconfirms and proper spacing. He even teaches you how to counter poke.

Now, another character I feel is a great beginner choice is YANG. This little negro has hitconfirms into fucking rekkas. He says Bitch, want some palms? and pushes niggas against walls into rekka juggles. WAIT WHATS THAT? FUNDAMENTAL 3S CONFIRMS WITH CORNER JUGGLES? THIS NIGGAS GOT IT ALL! wowie zowie I cant believe we have broken new ground with Yang. What makes him even cooler is he has a dive kick! He has a super that allows you to learn unblockables (HOLY SHIT WHAT THE FUCK SO COOL) and has great stun accumulation and doesn’t really have any horrible match ups.

When I started 3S I played as Yang. To this day i dunno why I dropped him for Dudley. I think it was because someone raged on me for being too defensive and told me that if I was gonna try to play defensive I should counter poke and deal massive damage with Dudley because my Yang sucked.

Last Samurai shit in here.

who’s down to play some 3s at Super Arcade this Weds? any takers?

*Actually how would you break down the cast in terms accessibility and difficulty in becoming successful with? *

I’d say characters that are well equipped to handle a variety of situations as well as having easy execution requirements are going to be the most accessible characters to new players. Shotos (specifically Ken), Chun, Yang, Dudley and maybe Elena fall into this category imo. On the other end of the spectrum are characters like Hugo, Urien, Q, and Yun, but Yun mostly because his combos are hard.

Just my opinion. There’s a lot of factors to account for. I also think characters with low stamina can present a challenge to new players.

IMO Necro is one of the easiest execution characters in the game… And my execution fucking blows. Dudley is intermediate for me sometimes and he’s my main.

Are you hinting that a particular shoto might be a hard character to start with in spite of the online evidence

3RD STRIKE

3RD STRIKE

This topic won’t tell you who the best Ken is if you need to be into that sorta thing. Recently Re-read Denjin Arcade SBO 2009 blog, they didn’t find any Ken specialists either. But, you know its the Ken the color of Kuroda’s text here, perfect Health bar color, if you like this game. He might have a PV video… or an older “beasting compilation youtube,” a BOSS highlights, with full matches, in tournament play under pressure, I found was pretty dope, included Ken & Gouki!! in addition to Makoto of course.

Ken unblockable ftw

noooo mind :china:

you people just don’t get it, to define the entire game of 3s, ALLLLL the characters are needed so in other words…All the characters = 3rd Strike

Case CLOSED!!!

But seriously i personally believe the creators = 3rd strike

how the FUCK did they know all this shit would work, triple tatsu’s, super duper punishments for dumb shit, unblockables with characters andddd wtf kara grabs

I’m almost certain the only reason they were able to figure stuff like this out was because they were adamant about disallowing “true block strings” seeing as they make a real time combat situation into a slow paced turn based fiacsco like many new fighters.

Alright, if I land one jab on you I’m going to go into a three more attacks all of which will be high so don’t worry about anything until the end of the string.

Just what I was thinking. I could not think of one character that personifies 3S. This game is weird and really puts you outside of your comfort zone. Play any character in this game long enough and you will learn 3S, or more importantly how your character works in 3S. To me that’s all that matters. Do I care if I can 100% Mak combo somebody? Or kara palm into next tomorrow when I’m learning Q? All I need to know is how to avoid, block/parry or counter it.

This game to me is seeing how far you can take your character and prevail or at the very least go out with a bang. SBO 2012 Genki and Perriot are genuine proof of that.

hahaha, maybe!

seriously I think for a player who is earnestly trying to learn how to play correctly, which is already a tall order online, gouki can present a challenge. if you’re content with using tatsumaki as an all encompassing trump card you won’t learn much even though you’re probably roasting lots of noobs

Alex = 3s. most underrated character in the game.

lol sorry I disagree 666%

In my opinion I think Oro has been the most underrated character for a long time. He has a lot of great tools to him that make him a flexible character to play with. He can control space, he can close space, he’s very fast(he can literally run away from Geneijin during its entire duration), he’s small, he has anti-air, he can potentially end a round with just one opening, he has mixups, the list goes on.

But his biggest problem is Chun, so not many people want to bother using him. It’s a shame, if you ask me.

Alex can do some sick stuff, as guys like Genki, Kazuya, Sakurada and KSK have shown over the years, but I don’t think he’s underrated. He’s low-mid for a reason. Just like how Kuroda, TM and Tetsugoshi being gods with Q can’t change the fact that Q is only better than like, Twelve and Sean.

you and pherai are soul killers.

Well to be fair, anyone in mid to low-mid could be considered underrated simply because of the fact that a lot of people like to write them off as “not viable” since they’re…well, not in high-mid.
