he seems like a general character to teach you general 3s and then you can move into specific sub-areas. so after you learn Ken you can move into Makoto and all her bag of tricks, or move into Urien where you spend the match looking for tackle-a-thons off a crouching fierce or whatever. I’d say I’d much rather approach the game from Ken or Ryu (SA1 or 2 Ryu probably) than like Urien, Makoto, Akuma, Necro, or Hugo. all of those characters are kind of specific and it helps to play them after you’ve picked up on the basics of the game.
24 hour taco trucks
you know…for a char that has a weak kara grab, his throw game is still very strong.
Ken and Dudley me thinks
Makoto? I’m interested in why some things she’s good to start out with. She’s so dash heavy that I personally wouldnt suggest her to start off with. But she really is 3RD STRIKE
On a side note i know its about Alex story wise but I always considered Yun the face of 3rd strike. The kids got style.
To the haters of creative word flows I say…

please excuse the distraction OP
i just spend the weekend at the shore drinking all day/night while riding a boat around.
and this is what i come back to.
no ur gay
I think saying Ken = 3s is being being disrespectful to the other characters. Depending on who you use to learn 3s, you’ll approach the game in a different way.
Someone who starts out with Yun will probably develop a form of defence much different from a Ken player, given how Yun’s defensive options are crap.
Urien players are looking to land you in setups to dish out big damage. Guess work needed more than you would with Ken (I’m guessing).
Thing is - I don’t really know how people who main other characters think while they’re playing. As a shoto I might be looking for that cr.mk super, or a nice ambigious crossup opportunity. I don’t think the opponent is thinking the same way. Fuck knows what goes through the head of a twelve player… I picked him once and tried zoning shoto style. Yeah funny I know…
Twelve players are people who only want to inflict misery on others
i get why people say what they say.
ken is fine for someone to start with.
so are ryu, necro, hugo, oro, yang, yun, makoto, dudley, elena, etc.
but if someone says ken is 3S encapsulated I would disagree. that doesn’t make much sense to me and if any character comes closest to ‘being’ 3S i’d say it’s makoto.
also yeah fuk ken. i don’t even play ryu exclusively (remy on and off since i played 3S and currently 90% of the time). but ryu is much cooler and more badass.
where’s ken’s shin sho? shinryuken? lmao.
harmonaz is king. listen to him. smart man.
ken has that** fire** on his shoryuken. And come on how generic are ryu’s supers… Oh look this one is a fireball, and this is a shoryuken that bounces them really high, and oh another fireball but it’s unblockable. A super that included joudan would’ve been bad ass. Ken’s shippuu is a little more creative than shin sho if you ask me. ( the rest of his supers are just as boring as ryu’s though)
… Not to mention ken’s “dragon” extends farther than ryu’s…
ryu doesnt give a fucking fuck about creativity you numbskull.
ryu is to the point. shin sho blows everyone/thing the fuck up (afaik). he doesn’t care about any glitz and glam. ken is a nancy.
I’ll break it to you gently… shoryu cannon (yes that mashing thing SEAN does) beats the SHIN SHORYUKEN. This game is broken.
Maybe KKZ as well but that makes sense
kkz i kind of figured.
shoryu cannon huh… i don’t 100% believe that. if they’re started same time. i think ryu is active and invincible for a longer time than sean is on the first part of shoryu cannon.
does sean end up hitting ryu with the second part of his super while ryu is in the air falling down or something?
also i feel like depedning on timing it would also beat kkz.
Spoiler
Cool, good to know, more knowledge please sir, just not, Sean knowledge.
Sean copied that from Shin Sho Secondary function. What else will he use online with -minus frames on hit situations for “mixups,” to get that “YATTA-NE~!!” Call the Fire Dept, cuz Shoryu Cannon blow thru was on Fire Baby!
Damn it. Posted. Well there’s nobody to ignore on this page at least.
Ken farther flamey punch, enjoy your Target Combo HP Shoryu fly over them? None of Ryu’s Shoryu’s fail to combo.
Ken, some kinda surfer or Tony Hawk rotations man. Shoryu Reppa, same Shoryu he already does, just all 3 included in one go like the CPU does. Spinneroonie, Urien sets thatoff and stands in it. Why does Ken want to do that and fly into space to change a lightbulb on a ceiling, especially if it didn’t hit just setting himself up to be punched in the balls. Jinrai Helicopter Ice Skating out of control motion sickness kicks, cool?
i love when cpu ken decides to do jab shoryu, lands and then does strong shoryu. he’s crafty.
Shoryu Cannon does beat out Shinshoryuken. They both have ridiculous amounts of invulnerability frames, but what matters in the end is that Shoryu Cannon will still hit Ryu.
I never thought about bringing KKZ into the mix, but now that Naz mentions it, it makes sense. I was thinking the only other Super that beats Shinsho is Seraphic Wing. lol
Speaking of Seraphic Wing and KKZ, could Gouki escape some/most of the damage if he was too far away to hit Gill out of it but a player had fast enough hands to activate his mountain splitter in time? Useless info but fun to think about.
I don’t think this would work seeing as akuma can be hit out of kkz by properly timed projectiles. Seraphic seems to act like a projectile with all that chip.
when someone shows me vids of shoryu cannon full hitting ryu when both supers are activated same frame i will believe it.
until then im assuming its a partial hit and timing dependent.
so basically when ESN gets bored.
