Playing Ken teaches you how to play Ken.
Ken’s style wouldn’t help you to learn Remy for example.
And that’s is coming from a Limey bastard too. They call pants trousers and controversy is pronounced ‘caan- trahv-assy’
Pip pip cheerio! Colour of my armour! Not biscuits, but scones!
Also yeah I still don’t understand half the time what the fuck wtf-akuma-hax is saying. Seriously son, get your act together, english isn’t that hard.
Yeah, I found it interesting the UK “masters of English” or at least known to be able to diffuse a situation with talking their way out of them, cannot have an ounce of empathy or wit about 'em. Its all blarney. & shit, using ounce there sounds a hell of a lot better than a few mL.
yomi fix your computer. Seem to be missing Capital letters. ALL CAPS when you say the man’s name. 3rd Strike, why would I want anyone to be able to “read me.” I would rather have you feel like you need to say you got jungled, or at least didn’t know what happened. You don’t know what’s going on? Good.
Ken’s could really learn a thing, if not two like the phrase goes, from Remy. Real important shit too like
cr Forward is not safe.
Depends who you’re fighting really, cr mk vs anyone with a fast super (chun sa2, ken sa3, mak sa1 etc…) is obviously not safe. Versus those without a fast super however it’s fairly risk free, so long as you space it right.
What?

Like a white guy contemplating rap verses. Don’t worry, I’m white too.
Borrow one of my commas I misplace. How do you not understand half of a time. English is hard.[/details]
Right. Thanks for those details on punishing.
But when Ken is likely to feel its always safe, its safe to assume he’ll throw it out too much, inevitably spacing it wrong, or using it at a very wrong time.
Another breakdown of a misconception with the game in “3s is just low forward super.” With other safer and great confirms to Super, he’ll really only need cr MK for the extra range. A more inexperienced Ken might go into the game believing the hype of cr MK Super is the only one you need.
Ken teaches you Ken. Ken gives you FG Aids.
If you want to learn 3rd Strike, I could only recommend Dudley or Makoto.
Ken never was top tier in any version of SF4 IIRC, but he’s a very popular character online. Besides Ken being a fun and solid character to play in 3s, he is also an iconic SF character that people love. So I think that he’ll get played heavily regardless of what tier list in any game that he’s in, when it comes to casual games.
When it comes to random guys in the arcades, I saw more Akuma players than Ken. haha
Obviously not. That’s Q’s super.
Only person saying 3s is just low forward super is you.
Oh and yes, there are FAR too many idiotic, auto pilot Gouki’s about.
the only time that low forward skirmishes break out in 3s, is when both chuns get bar and one has 1/3rd life left.
no shoes allowed here sir, footsies only.
And? you just have a problem with me saying anything that you won’t explain.
Alright. I do say too much that may not apply, oh no said something not currently in the topic-yeah didn’t quote anybody and have to correct “3s is only low MK super”, but didn’t I also say in detail why its not just low forward Super? Shit on my own(others) misconception. Something you might want to do with increased traffic around here, from the recent Tournament having people boo Chun players offstage.
I can see why some knowledgeable players just don’t say anything on here, now, even if I’m a “blowhard talk to much” forum abuser.
If you have a problem, deal with it off the forums if its in RL crabby shit, or take it to PM’s. Forum 101. Otherwise I’ll have to forum use ignore you. And for the sake of the topic, I won’t post anymore.
I don’t have a problem with you ffs. Grow the fuck up.
Y’all are asking him to speak english, he’s asking you to stop using low forward as your go to poke. It should be a gimmick by now unless you’ve only been playing this game for like a year. There are only so many different applications for the same move.
sup to my fellow “blowhard talk to much” forum abusers
I agree with the sentiment but the semantics of “ken will teach you 3s” are a pet peeve of mine. It makes it sound like if you do nothing but grind out games as Ken, you’ll eventually just know how to play 3s through osmosis. Same goes for when people say “ryu with teach you ST/SF4.”
With that out of the way, Ken is a character who excels when the player has strong fundamentals. You don’t get the same kind of explosive damage off of parries that characters like Denjin Ryu, Urien, Dudley, etc. You have a lot of hit confirms to work with. You don’t have very abusable moves (Gouki tatsumaki). He’s a good balanced character for a well rounded player.

So AKUMA-HAX has been honestly posting this whole time!? I thought he was just always doing strange Dander stuff. No offense, but fuck me that’s amazing.
Playing Oro for so long has actually taught me a lot about 3S, and while my Gouki might still be ass I feel that I have a bit more control over him and less bad habits (random tatsu). With Oro, I’ve learned decent footsies and how to parry quite well, but I don’t think I could ever learn to really rush down like with Dudley, Ken or Makoto. He’s too turtle + setup/bait oriented IMO.
One thing I think actually teaches you fundamentals is playing against really strong Ken players. Whether they parry and punish really hard or can just solidly turtle, I find that (good) Ken teaches me the most about the game.
YES!
Ken doesn’t teach you about command grabs, charge partitioning or unblockables (his post sa3 ambiguous jump in doesn’t count). Weak kara throw doesn’t teach you much compared to chun, gouki, etc.
Playing him has REALLY helped my hitconfirms.
