I usually see newer players asking for help when getting into newer games that are out. The only time I’ve seen them not want to get into a game is if the game is 10+ years old. It’s usually less daunting to catch up in a game that’s a year or two old than it is to catch up in a game that’s 15 years old.
Not to mention that there’s not much incentive to try and get decent in a game that not many people are playing.
Granted, if the person really wants to learn the game, they’ll tough it out, but I’m simply stating the reasons why they wouldn’t.
