Would post in Oro boards, but I’m gonna assume no one checks them. In this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ntki8-OPkc at 3:33, the dude keeps getting very specific sets of stones. I’m aware of how each stone behaves and some info about the game choosing your stone based on certain things in the match, but how did he get triple cement blocks so many times? Did he just sit there? Has anyone talked to Japanese players about if they can control the stones?
it might just be coincidence in his recording, like he cherry picked which ones worked or worked best, which ended up being those with 2+ concrete blocks.
i have to imagine you’ve tried hitting different buttons or combinations of buttons and all that jazz.
maybe it has to do with stun, hp, etc. time in the match?
Definitely would like to learn more about this.
how many different kinds of items are there? I usually go off of the first hits when choosing approach.
robot, trex, brick, concrete, rock…
i think thats it?
I wonder if this can be done via tool assistance with save states. Save the state before you pull it off, then see if the right combination comes out. Then if you mess the combo up, simply reload then try it again.
That said, this would require the correct combination to come out every time after the save state which does indicate that it is predictable and controllable.
Okay so this is what I know. If you make a save state, then use Jab stones, then reset the state, you get the same set of stones as the first time. Med punch same, etc. If you save state, whiff a move, then active stone with whatever button, you get a different set of stones from the first method, but is then consistent with this method of summoning stones. I’ve always wanted to unlock the full secrets of the Tengu.
this is epic.
have you tried it at different times of the round? have you tried waiting longer before using whatever normal?
different stun, stamina, meter?
so many possible variables. if in the end it is really that controllable, that’s amazing.
i know you always said brick is terrible, i wonder the exact differences of each object and if some are better for certain things.
this is why 3s is awesome.
Searching for the secret of the philosopher’s tengu stones.
Me vs Jwangggg last night @ the 1:26:00 mark!
you think ken in black is jwangggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg?
come on denjizz. really.
lol at how much he hates you.
to be fair denjin is criminal online.
Zak Bennet read up about this on Dirty’s blog. We were talking about it when he showed me a really easy but very cheap combo used with the three large blocks on crouching twins. They were in hitstun for the entire duration and the damage was ridiculous. But in only worked if he got those three large cement blocks. Those of you who know about Zak shouldn’t be surprised that he had different combos/blockstrings depending on what stones he got.
Whether or not its random… can be argued that various factors do affect which stones the game chooses for you. For example I’ve noticed that whenever I activate against twins with 3 stones (hoping to try that combo Zak showed me), and I’m already holding an advantage, the game usually gives me 3 shitty toys which is the last thing I want.
If you can find Dirty’s blog (and a translator), you should check it out. The amount of detail that guy goes into regarding certain things is insane.
is it an east coast online players thing to be hella confused about who people are all the time? I present my case:
Denjizz kept posting videos of him beating "Frankie3s"
Denjizz and his keninblack debacle
Louis thinking IglooBob and Lance3rd were different people for months
Louis repeatedly asking Ryan for games in GGPO chat despite Ryan being nowhere to be found, like he’s talking into the void
also I support this thread and wish I had something of substance to add to it
I got no luck finding Dirty Music’s blog. His name does not make it easier.
Maybe it’s like in KOF where the health meter determines which super you get? Like, “red” health gives you 3 t rexes or some shit. Maybe it’s like Makoto’s Ultra in SF4 where you activate with all three but hold a particular combination? Btw this is new to me, too, I never really considered trying to always get the rocket ships or was it a robot? This is cool. Gonna try hopping on the old training mode later.
If someone can translate this, seems to be an in depth study, though, i can’t really understand most of it: http://ameblo.jp/3fv/entry-10545808134.html

apparently,he’s found a way to always get the “beneficial” PA’s ?
btw , dirty > fuji > thanatos
edit :

In the first link i posted, he also talks about Chun’s PA.
What i understand is that PA type is not randomly picked but instead, game uses a counter, which is resetted regularly or directly by some events, like an SA, which resets basically every character timer in game core.
So, you can only wait until the right time to get the PA.
Seems also true for Oro’s Tengu.
Looks kinda like charge bar/ mechanisms actually…
Thanks Fran and ESN. I’m gonna get high as shit and do some testing tonight. I’ll let you know of my findings.
