Yeah I think the bottom line is, if you are fat, you should have a good idea of what amount of food is too much for you. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that you’re eating too much. So some people have slower metabolisms that others. That’s true, but so what?
Obesity is 100% the fat person’s fault. There is no such thing as genetic fatness. If you choose to eat lots of fast food and sweets, you will pack on the pounds. If you eat like a normal person and get some exercise you will never become fat…EVER. This is a fact, not my opinin. If you think otherwise you must also abide by totally different laws of physics.
Personally speaking, I lost a significant amount of weight when I cut down on the breads and milk and upped the protein and veggies. Sounds obvious, I know, but apparently I’ve been following a somewhat Paleo diet without realizing it. Whatever, it works for me.
However, I’m not superman and i do have my cheat day which usually consists of something greasy and some sort of ridiculous chocolate covered desert.
I’m part of netology’s messed up digestion/dont absorb nutrients group which basically means I live on junk food while staying as slim as a praying mantis
You can be skinny and still be unhealthy, and no I’m not talking about anorexia. Consuming a lot of low grade food full of artificial and manufactured crap and not exercising is bound to have a negative effect on your health even if your high metabolism keeps any fat from being retained on your body.
It’s also possible to be technically slightly obese but still lead an active and healthy life. People who are “big-boned”, or rather have a naturally large body frame, come to mind. Your waist size isn’t the best indicator of how healthy or unhealthy you are.
That’s very true. I’ve met fat people who always said it’s genetic and they eat very healthy. The next day I see them with McDonald soda cups in their hands.
What it comes down it is sometimes it might be genetics, but only for those people who have that problem. There is no way that 50% of people being overweight can be a result of fat people fucking, getting fucked or birthing by getting fucked by a fatty genetic-wise, I fail to see how nature would even allow that shit unless it has plans to Zombieland the fuck out of people to have to lose weight. I have a friend who’s sister takes a medication that basically causes her to look fat. It fucks up her hypothalamus so really, S.O.L. take the medication and be fat or don’t take it and suffer seizures and die.
But on the topic eating shitty food. I like the show “You are what you eat,” even though it follows the same pathetic sensationalism theme reality tv is associated with, but what it does well is the table of fucking unhealthy food that person eats. I look at a entire table full of a weeks worth of burgers, fish and chips and cola and I wanted to take a dump to get all the shitty food out of me, even though I eat relatively healthy and haven’t eaten fastfood that day. here is an example. It’s when you come face to face with all that you are doing to fuck up your body, that’s more convincing than most health reports etc. etc.
There is no such thing as being “big boned”, but I guess that’s why you put it in quotes… I think. To my knowledge, obesity is determined based on heigh to weight ratio and/or the percentage of your body weight is fat.
What really break my heart is that so many obese people are unhappy being fat, but also dont believe dieting is worth it. The’yre stuck is this greasy purgatory. Just pick one side of the coin and be happy with it.
There is ONE strange thing I noticed: Being obese seems to cause your bone structure to develop differently if you were fat since adolescence, but then radically dropped the weight. On these guys, the pelvic girdle is WAY wider than it should be, giving them wide, square-looking hips. I think during the formative years, the body grew the support structure of the hips wider than normal to better handle the excess weight. I think the legs also develop slightly thicker bones as well…cuz guys who were fat their whole lives look like there is something not quite normal going on bone-wise, from the waist down.
Alright, I’m going to have to agree that most fat people who play the genetics card are merely trying to deceive themselves and denying the truth. Granted that you may have certain predispositon, but you can always exercise and actually watch your portions.
Our biggest problem today is that we don’t know what we are eating anymore. I don’t care what most people say, but we primarily base what we eat on taste first. Granted that price and availability do become an issue sometimes, but the notion that you can’t eat good food for cheap doesn’t fly with me. We don’t actually know what good food is anymore.
I haven’t had a BigMac in over five years, in fact I don’t eat anymore from fast food joints like KFC, McDonalds and Wendys. There is no denying that I would love to have one when my friends are eating that shit in front of me, but I know that it’s bad for me, and its nutritonal benefits aren’t that good. Granted I will have a bruger from a high end restaruant every now and than when we go out, but the vast majority of fast food that I eat is made in front of me with lots of veggies, like Subway.
Also, I can pretty much gurantee that I’m one of only few people in this thread that makes purchasing decisions based on what I see on the food label. For instance, I like to take fruit salads to work(you know the one that come in a cup and make you loook like a little kid when you eat them), but let’s say the peaches has more Vitamin A than the pears with cherries, I’ll go for the peaches. They both taste good, but one is better for me.
I think now more than ever, we need to start teaching kids about food, and responsible food choices. I read that for the first time in history in North America, our generation and the next one will probably have a lower life expectancy than our parents. Michelle Obama isn’t going to solve our problems with her Let’s Move capaign, that’s for sure.
Most children will find far better use for a mandatory class based on proper food choices than long divison.
Eating healthy is cheap as fuck. You’re just too dumb to realize it, or lack culinary skills to cook up something you’d normally deem as bland tasting.
If you eat McDonald’s 3 times a day, at an average price of 7 bucks a meal, that’s 21 dollars a day.
For 21 dollars, I can hit up a Chinese Super marker, come home with the following (this was my grocery list from 3 days ago):
36 eggs
2 2 liter jugs of Soy milk (sweetened, fuck that plain soy shit)
2 bags of pre-washed spinach
2 Honeydew Melon
1 bag of Quaker’s Oatmeal.
2 cans of canned Jackfruit.
This came out to about 23 dollars. This amount of food can easily last me 3-4 days, eating 3 big meals a day. All healthy, minus a little sugar from the canned jackfruit syrup, but fuck that, I’m active enough.
If you don’t know how or what to make, that list of food can seem bland and boring. But a little seasoning, spice, Chinese sauces can go a long way.
Curry oatmeal + spinach and mushroom omelette + secret Chinese chili oil + a cup of soymilk is god damn delicious to me.
Maybe genetics can play a small part in it. But if you don’t wanna be obese, you don’t have to be. People are just lazy and like eating. I have ZERO sympathy for people who complain about being fat but do nothing about it.
