DOAU online players = funny stuff

That guy that beat everyone in DOA3 tournament is Okubo. He admited that he been playing DOA3 for two week and although it’s technically legal in terms of tournament rules, Okubo employed Hayate’s sniping dodge movie, shippu-ten, to spin around his opponents repeatedly until they attacked, subsequently missing in frustration. Beside those other DOA3 players at the tournament deserve to lose because they can’t even figure out this guy style or lack of.

This man speaks truth. You can simply play guessing games with holds since it must be high, meduim or low with no exceptions, and quite a few holds are broken (getting Counter Held off Ryu Hayabusa = GAME OVER). DOA is an okay game (would be better if they actually got serious and ditched the lame-ass “sex sells” approach) but it isn’t very good for competition, IMO.

It happens in all games on live. People suck at life and losing.

At this point, this is probably the biggest issue I have with the game. High priority pokes can own command throws pretty well, and the counter system is still being tweaked from game to game, so I have faith that will be eventually balanced. But the tracking and sidestepping need an overhaul badly. In DOA, the free movement system is all but useless except for positioning. Sidestepping plays a pretty important defensive role in SC2 and Tekken, and we don’t even need to get started on the near perfection that is the VF sidestep system. Either we need to tone down the tracking in DoA or we need to utilize a real dodging/sidestepping system.

It shoudln’t be balanced, it should be dropped.

Virtually free 25% - 33% chance to get a burst that does massive damage?

Lame

counters aren’t that bad out of hit stun and they are still gay in my book (everyone is geese? O_o?) but that’s just lame.

and I knew i saw those doa experts get beasted by a 1 month player.

thanks jbener

" Apparently, fighting fair is for losers

In early March, Microsoft hosted the final (and most bizzare) round of the Xbox Championship Vol. 4: Dead or Alive 3 in Japan. Thirty two qualifying participants and a handful of onlookers gathered for the event at Shinjuku’s famous Studio Alta, a hotspot for TV actors and loitering teenagers.

With Dead or Alive 3 as the most popular and best selling xbox title, Microsoft obviously had high hopes for the event. Unfortunately for its already troubled Xbox division, the event was all but hijacked by oddball Osaka resident Kazuy Okubo.

Using DOA3 combatant Hayate, Okubo rolled his way to first place, 650,000 Yen, and a Hawaiian vacation. Although it’s technically legal in terms of tournament rules, Okubo emplyed Hayate’s sniping dodge movie, shippu-ten, to spin around his opponents repeatedly until they attacked, subsequently missing in frustration.

Other participants, play-by-play announcers, and audience members all demonstrated their disgust as Okubo defated some of Japan’s top Dead or Alive 3 players. Adding insult to injury, Okubo admitted at a preliminary round in Osaka two weeks earlier that he had just started playing the game.

Among the people angered by Okubo’s fighting style was Chihaya Hamada from Chib prefecture - the tournament’s only female contestant - who lost to Okubo in the first round. “It was embarrassing to lose to him,” she says." I’m wiating for revenge."

Any resentment for Okubo was only compounded as he broke away between matches to weep in nearby bathroom stalls. (Whether he was crying out of nervousness or stress is unclear.) With red eyes and a flushed face, Okubo was handed his winnings by model Mari Shimormura, who wore a pink Dead or Alive bikini. Okubo - presumably dry eyed - traveled with Shimomura to Hawaii on March 25."

.

I see your point. Personally, I think counters were at their best in DoA 1.

ROFL

I think i’m the only one who found this funny

doaU is too simple. it gives average gamers a chance to compete vs players at a higher skill level.on top of everthing else thats wrong with doaU… with no frame adv it means that EVERYTHING is either 100% unsafe or u get put in a mixup on block. doaU is trash to me and online play makes it even worse…

now, as for as the japan doa tourney… that tourny was held on doa3.1…the cartwheel is not that hard to beat especially if the player has no knowledge of hayates frame adv and priority. the japan players had NO CLUE how to beat the cartwheel. the cartwheel isnt what breaks hayate… its his normal throw by the wall, his frame adv, and insane priority. the players lost to hayate in the japan tourney because they had no idea how to beat the cartwheel not because doa3.1 is crap. doa 3.1 and 3.2 r the only GOOD doa games. btw…doa 3.2 is doa 3.1 with hayates cartwheel being useless like it is in doa3.0…

Where the fuck you think I am? I’m on DOAU ownin muh fuckaz all day and all night!

Where ever their is those who think they are supreme I am their to end their reign. Wherever their are those who think they have accended to the next level of DOA I am their to show them a level even higher. Wherever their is those who believe themselves to be my peer I am their to kill their dreams like a magneto mvc2 death combo. At first when I came onto Dead or alive ultimate online I was a doa MASTER. Then I became a DOA GOD! Now I am DOA itself. The very personification of it’s fighting system and all it’s characters mixed with pure ownage to create a being that cannot be defeated nor comprehended!

I have tooken ownage ot the next level and am beating SSes with their own characters as if it was nothing at all!

I am the DOA evangelist, giving knowledge through light to the people and ownage through darkness to all the haters and I shall continue to do so until the end of time!!!

The end to the carwheel arguement. :china:

What exactly is so different about DoA 3.1 and 3.2 that make them so much better than DoA 3.0, just out of curiosity?

While this guy’s post is like 2 months old, I just felt like mentioning that the PS2 and DC versions have roll cancelling, the only versions that had it removed were the GC and Xbox versions.

I thought this post was dead but I guess not.

JO broought it back. For m121, I haven’t played 3.1 or 3.2(I only have 3.0) they added 50 plus moves to the game, maybe more, and changed the damage of the counters to even less than it was in 3. GameFaqs or doacentral should have a guide on it if you want to check it out.

Oh and like Tom mentioned…the cartwheel video is the 3.1 version. In the U.S. version and 3.2 it doesn’t do what it did in the video

How you climbed out of the Retard Barrel I shall never know.

Ever played Guilty Gear? Mixup games and deciding when to block high and when to block low are integral.
