Too early to say, a week after evo.
We’ll know by the end of the year.
Too early to say, a week after evo.
We’ll know by the end of the year.
SSFIVAE had 1500
MVC3 had 1000
MK9 had 520
Tekken 6 had 224
Blazblue CS2 had 208
Soul Calibur V is due out early 2012 and Namco showed it off before Tekken 6… it will be put in Evo next year by Namco, TTT2 will probably get released in the last couple of months
I agree wholeheartedly with this guy. This was the first EVO I’d watched and I came in mainly because of Mortal Kombat, though I also played MVC3 and was interested in that stream as well. After those were done I watched the AE stream as well. Noah in MVC3 was epic
I’d love to see it at Evo again the problem is there’s so many “new” games coming out, and four of them are made by Ono/Harada.
I think MK has a slim chance, but not zero.
SF12 will definitely be in.
UMVC3 will definitely be in
SC5 I predict will be out, and Namco will make sure that’s in. Evo may be the first major for SC5- as I suspect it doesn’t come out till May.
SFvsTK I think will also be out, and Capcom will make sure that’s in.
This leaves two spots.
Tekken 6 wouldn’t draw 200 next year- so that’s out.
Blazblue may get another character, but I don’t think that will up the numbers. 200 max there.
I think MK, provided the game keeps improving, and folks keep showing up for majors, will get a spot. The important thing is that NRS keeps working on balance and content, I think when the patches and new chars dry up, the game will decline, possibly quickly.
If Evo adds a 6th game, and I suspect they will, KOF will probably get that. I think the game is in a position to do well. People are mad at Capcom, and KOF looks interesting to folks who haven’t played it before. If MK makes it, and a popular KOF doesn’t, we may see a flamewar erupt like what happened when GG got shafted a few years back, but worse. What I think is needed for KOF to do well is for Americans to get blown up at the game, so that there’s incentive to improve.
Either MK9 or MK9 Tag for next year
TT2 will def. draw 200+ people. Tekken 6 wont, but why play the old version.
MK9 will def. be at next years evo me thinkz, I dont get how some of you guys can say the chances are very slim. It was one of the hypest games at EVO + I think it got some people into the game (Im saying this and I dont even have the game lol). BB/Tekken 6 iirc didn’t really get that many entrances this, and last year as well but its always still @EVO, and MK9 is 2 years newer. Not saying a lot will join, but probably above 200
Watching the finals for MK was exciting. I hope it comes back.
Alright I flew to Vegas twice this year for MK9 for PDP and Evo.
I hope not.
And heres why; this game isn’t built well enough for a tournament setting.
This game in my opinion is still in an open beta that we all paid for and it won’t be seeing a complete version for its current generation.
The next MK will be Evo ready, and this MK is Evo over. Let it die.
Carefoot, can you please elaborate on that? Because I have no idea what you’re talking about. MK9 on the Evo stream was fantastic to watch.
just ignore him, see his rant about the game not being on PC.
I dont care if it comes back or not. But if there are a fixed number of games for EVO, then other games should make it in. MK is a fun casual fighter, but NRS really don’t have what it takes to make it a really deep tournament fighter.
LOL, fighting games in general these days are mega easy too get into ssf4 is a nerfed version on sf2 people only think the game is good because the game makes them feel like top players same for mvc3 everyone feels like yipes, as for umk3 - mk9 the game hasn’t been toned down beceause umk3 had ultimate block no high or low mix-ups or any sticky throws.
Its the same story everywhere people glorifying ssf4 because it makes them feel like a good player :L
It is up to the players really, not NRS that decide how competitive a game is, and from what has been shown at tournaments these last months, it is very “tournament viable”.
Anyway, i see these games definately will make a showing at EVO 2012:
SSFIV:AE(rebalanced)
UmvC3
SFxT
MK9
I don’t dare to say if games like TTT2(not even out then), SC5, KOFXIII, BB, Skullgirls etc etc will make a showing or replace some of the first 5 mentioned games.
With the amount of fighting games coming out EVO may need to increase the amount of games they will be hosting. Thought MK had a very good showing, especially top 8.
I dont think so. SSF4 is a very well designed game. It has more mechanics than 3s, but I like 3s more. SF4 is more land a blockstring and do a huge combo, whereas 3s is more mind games.
3s wins for me.
Mk makes people feel even more pro cos the combos are so easy to do, so by what you are saying, people should be praising glorifying MK much more than SF.
Also on second thought. I hope this game fucking dies.
What exactly is deep about fighting games. it’s not like we’re playing chess here dude. this move beats that. that move beats this. What If i do that.
LOL, what makes a game deep is subjective. I do not really find MK all that shallow, there are new systems we still haven’t explored. I mean shit the tag mode is basically a new haven to extend combos and changes gameplay dratsically.
What makes a deep tournament fighter is not the game itself. besides this was THE ONLY game where the top 8 all used different characters, this game has a top tier, but there are methods to beat the top. A deep tournament fighter means there is a deep talent pool in which to test your skills against. MK had a big tourney with many participants.
MK>>>>MVC3>>>>SFIV
nobody was hyped for Blazblu because nobody really plays it.
TEkken didn’t have a defending NIN so the tournament just kind of lacked a pinache.
EAsy to do combos so what?
Are 1 frame combos really all that in determining skill? LOL. really dude.
What new technology has been figured out in MK past the first month of its release? Getting huge combos = depth now?
EDIT:- I mean how much new technology is being figured out in comparison to the amount in SF the same number of months post release.
Did you like, blank out during all of Top 8? Especialyl when Spark and LK took out Tokido, BB had a lot of hype going on.
lol Yeah all your points are not valid MK doesn’t assist players in anyway or form, if u comparing all games too sf4 then is shows that u know nothing about fighting games, if u watch MK matches you’ll see that people have there own block strings or bock set-ups, lol sf4 is a great game it’s just overrated and soo easy too play lol jab jab jab repeat, MK is totally different hybrid of tekken and sf.
And i hope all future capcom’s games are less scrub friendly.
