Gotta see how it plays out over the next year with tweaks and all, but if they treat it right, it’ll be back.
Stranger things have happened. Remember when they had Mario Kart DS a few years back?

Yeah I think they’ll have it there.
No way in hell is AE getting dropped. It’s the game that brings in the most intentional players to the event and it still draws in the most entrants. Besides, SFxT is it’s own beast. It’ll get it’s own slot rather than take another game’s.
TTT2 is a long ways off from a console release. Knowing Namco’s history with their arcade releases we’ll have to wait a year or two before TTT2 gets a home port. Especially so with SCV dropping in a year and there’s no way in hell Namco will compete with it’s own game.
I don’t see KoFXIII making it. Unless KoF makes to other majors I don’t see it happening. BB has another DLC character on the way with more updates on the way to keep things fresh.
I thought TTT2 was going to replace T6, because Tekken players dislike T6, thanks to how “awesome” TTT2 is.
…and after the parental advisory alone caused massive fuckin’ hype at EVO. I don’t think MK9 is going to be dropped at EVO2k12. lol
I can see:
at EVO2k12.
MK9 had over 500 people enter at EVO and alot of hype. Why wouldn’t it be back unless people completely drop the game for something else?
SALTY Fatalities in the finals was hilarious as fuck though. really.
I really want BB dropped for KOFXIII.
KOFXIII could attract more international players, and I think it is the best fighting game out there besides MK9.
For me right now MK9 is the best fighting game out there
I have to agree, despite the fact that I don’t play as much anymore, because I get annoyed trying to re-learn a lot of shit from the hotfixes after playing AE, MvC3, and BBCS2.
Then again, I’m not really into MK9 or MK in general, but I buy the games for fun and love for fighters.
It is a strong possibility for MK9 to return. There are some things to factor in that might mess with that:
-Blazblue getting replaced by KOF13
-TTT2 not replacing Tekken 6
-Keeping AE
-Inclusion of 3rd Strike Online Edition
With all the DLC characters becoming Legal it’s more or less an upgrade for the game. So, I don’t see why not?
I’d like to see an UMK9 down the road as well but who know?
MK 9 was the only finals I was hype for from beginning to end. So I’d welcome it back with open arms.
Too many games. EVO rarely runs more than 5 these days. It’s too much of a hassle.
I could see
AE
UMvC3
TTT2
SFxT
MK/Skullgirls/KOFXIII/SCV
BlazBlue will not be back next year unless consoles get a patch for CS2+ which I doubt will happen in time for EVO.
Ah, true, true, you have a point there.
Triple streams, next year? Haha!
1.) AE2k12/MK9
2.) SFxT/MvC3
3.) SG/KOFXIII/TTT2/SCV
Make it happen.
That’s a good idea, no lie. I don’t think that kind of tag fighter has been played at Evo before, not unless Guilty Gear Isuka was played there.
Thankfully Tekken 6 will be removed… instead we get Tekken Tag… ugh.
But yeah, I think MK9 is going to stay so long as it has a place at the majors.
Tekken 6 is not a bad game though, its very fun and can be good competitively. But I agree its freaking boring to watch lol, at least this year.
And I am almost a 100% sure MK9 will be @ next years Evo. MK9 was one of the hypest (Going by crowd reactions/mine lol) tournament of them all. (Fatality = Ultimate salt )Ok, mostly cause no one really plays it and we basically ONLY saw new stuff lol, and new stuff is exciting. But the same might happen next year. ANDDDDD…Tekken 6 has been on several years, and even though I like the game, it was pretty boring to watch. There were some hype moments for me, but compared to the rest it could not compete. So why not MK9?
Not to mention its the only competitive fighting game Ive streamed where the top 8 had 8 different characters lol. Props to that.
MK9 brought hype to Evo. Denying that is just…denial. We are a big community, and we brought it at Evo. From the players there to us who couldnt (sadface) getting people linked to the stream and supporting it anyway we could.
MK brought the salt (MK sucks chant?) and the fatalities in the Top 8 stream were godlike, no matter how stupid they are. Seeing them on that stage made them all so much better. Ever since Nineteen-ninety something, even when MK was out drawing every game to the arcades, and the huge MK2 tourneys with the monitors put on top of the cabs so ALL the people could see the action…Evo 2011, especially the Top 8 was the biggest moment in MK history imho.
MK9 in some form will be at Evo 2012.
Yeah I don’t see MK getting the MBAA treatment, hopefully
What was the number of entries for MK? That’s the big deciding factor. Evo always goes by which game has the most tourney players attending and if the amount was the next highest compared to SF and MVC3 there’s a good chance. If it was far lower or they feel another game will bring more people then they’ll probably push it off to the side.
Like 500+. Pretty sure it was #3 in amount of entrants.
I remember a commentator saying on the stream that it had the third most entrants, so just behind SSFIV: AE and MVC3.
I heard that MK9 pulled more people than Tekken 6 did in two years combined (2010&2011). If that’s true, MK9 has a very good chance to be at Evo again. People just need to keep playing it.
I believe 520 was the official number realized. Their saying that if MK does well at MLG on the 26th its a good possibility it’ll stay there and be back at evo as well
Tekken isn’t there because of the numbers though. Namco is a major backer for EVO and they’ve treated EVO well and vice versa.
There has been a namco game represented at evo as long as I can remember.
