I don’t think they’ve confirmed yet, but it sounds like certain costumes can be earned via Fight Money and other have to be paid with Zenny/Real Money. I wouldn’t be surprised if all alt costumes require Zenny though
I think alt costumes are sold with real cash, colors may be earn able.
I think boosting can happen just as easy in online with the cross play system, so there may be restrictions on what actually earns you fight money. I plan on playing a bunch locally ( moved recently and the scene here is jumping, plan on attending as many local weeklies as possible) so I know a lot of my game time won’t net me fight money.
Fight money may only be earned (in greater quantities at least) in random ranked, and not given out to rematches or anything like that to avoid boosting.
They might do what Killer Instinct did and unlock DLC characters early for dudes who bought the season pass. Ya’ never know with Capcom.
none of the dlc characters interest me very much, so unless one of them really blows me away when we actually see what they’re about i’m just gonna grind it out.
I already bought it. Not that it matters much, but on the PS4 side that theme is pretty sad. It’s basically just two background wallpapers.
While I like the characters announced, I’m not in a hurry to get them, so I’ll hopefully unlock them with Fight Money if it’s not ridiculously grindy.
I ended up picking up the season pass mainly for Ibuki, but I’m sure I’ll get a lot of use out of the other 5 as well. Hopefully we can spend fight money on outfits. Otherwise I’ll probably have a ton of fight money saved up by the time the second wave of DLC characters hit.
People in this thread seem to forget that additional costumes will only be purchasable with real money
IDGAF about costumes. Never did in SF4, and with the way they’re keeping the characters pretty much as they’ve always looked, I doubt I’ll care much about the ones in 5. The only ones from 4 that even came close to piquing my interest was the Wild set right at its announcement, but when I saw the shitfest that was Cammy later on, I decided to just save my bucks. They would have to make something very compelling and relevant to my interests in order for me to do anything but grind out FM character/stage unlocks.
Capcom definitely picked the right approach here. Keeping the paid content to only cosmetic stuff won’t piss off as many people as it isn’t tied to the gameplay or the basic function of the character.
Well none of the 6 characters interest me too but if I don’t buy the DLCs I will be sitting a whole year or more thinking haunting thoughts like I don’t have the complete game because I don’t have the DLC characters. This has happened to me with lot of other fighting games that have DLC characters.

I don’t care that much for outfits, so waste of money at this point. What if I buy the season pass and I end up having more than enough fight money to unlock characters when they get released? The first character is still 4-5 months away, no need to rush a decision. That season pass isn’t going anywhere either.
The first character could be released weeks after the game drops, remember they have 6 to go through in a year.
it remains to be seen. The ammount of fight money we got in the 2nd beta won’t be the same we get this time, otherwise the value of the season pass is beyond worthless and something you can grind in a day.
I have no problem giving capcom money. I gave NRS 30 dollars for a mystery season pass that dashed my hopes when I only liked one character (Tremor).
This reminds me of League of Legends here. “Sure you could win 200 matches for a character… OR you could get them all for a measly $29.99” extends hand expectantly. I think business practices like this are total trash and I’m not going to support it. If I don’t get bored of SFV too quickly I will grind it out until I get the characters.

I’m going to buy the season pass because I want to support the Street Fighter team. $30 of LOVE FOR COMBOFIEND BOYS
