I’ll be playing the game enough that i’ll have the fight money ready to unlock the characters when they’ll be released as DLC.
It also gives me that nostalgic feeling of unlucking stuff, which i like.
already got the season pass, and will probably buy anything they get out for the game, i have zero motivation to grind in this game, i just want to start the game and play instead of worrying about unlocking things
With Super we got a ton of new stuff 40 dollars. This is 6 characters for 30. The value for money just isn’t there anymore. I’ll probably see how the math on Fight Money pans out.
This game isn’t going to have multiple editions like SF4 did. Capcom gonna treat SFV like a service and just continuous update it. It needs to be looked at a different perspective
Difference is you have choices in how to get the content. It’s technically 6 characters for free OR pay. You didn’t get to choose for SFIV. You had to pay in order to play or be stuck with Vanilla. Game modes, balance, characters and everything necessary for gameplay is FREE.
Anyone who pays 30 bucks for the season pass is essentially paying to donate to Capcom. Otherwise the content is free if you play the game even somewhat regularly. It’s for people who value time over money, but you need the money to blow and Capcom has said the time you will spend making the content free won’t be that lengthy. If the time I spend playing SFV is enough to make the game free, there’s no point to buy.
They haven’t announced anything that you get in the season pass that you can’t already get for free. Which means if that pans out the Season Pass is essentially designed for casual players who may fire the game up once a week at most. If you’re going to actively play this game, just use the fight money. Otherwise you’re just a good Samaritan
I still want to feel the fun of earning my unlocks and earning fight money. I don’t want fight money to be a useless value. I don’t mind dropping some money here and there though so to me buying the season pass doesn’t make much sense.
As someone that wants all the content they lowered the value for money.
Yes balance is free, yes they used to tie balance to characters and prefix/suffix but anyone that was really into it wanted everything anyways and the new system hurts us.
The only thing you’ll have to pay for is cosmetics like costumes. Which even during SFIV you still had to pay separately for costumes. The amount of people this new system hurts is surely less than those who basically get anything necessary for gameplay for free by simply playing. Gameplay being tied to money is archaic and not good for a new digital era of gaming. More types of gamers can now have access to whichever part of SFV they want while not being forced to upgrade to continue playing with the hardcore pack.
I remember hearing about people that never bought Super or Ultra and basically just had to play with their smaller pool of people when the new game was out. Now those people who don’t invest much time or money can still play the same game.
That’s not very viable considering these characters are now released immediately after development is finished where they will need a maximum profit from them immediately on release. That’s why there is the option to earn them for free so you don’t even have to consider purchasing them at whatever their archaic value would have been on a completely different form of media. They aren’t pre developing these characters and then releasing them on a media form where they are forced to lower the price for an upgrade to content they have already purchased.
These characters can be attained for free, so obviously there will be a premium placed if you purposely decide to donate to Capcom for them.
It probably depends for me, if fight money is only used for 1 or 2 things then i’ll just save up to buy the characters with fight money. But if there’s tons of cool stuff i can actually unlock then i might buy the season pass.
Bought. I had about $4 in Steam Credit so that lessened the blow a little. I feel like a Fuccboi but I’d rather be absolutely sure I can get the 3rd Strike characters on day 1.
Most likely going to require you to win online. Hearthstone has the same thing where unless there’s “hidden” bonuses for certain aspects (like completing a solo adventure), your wins have to be in Play mode (online multiplayer), Arena, or Brawl.
They aren’t going to let you cheap out like beating a CPU 1v1 opponent on Easy or use 2p as a training dummy.
well technically your not paying just for the the characters from the 30$ season pass, you will also have their story line attached too and 1 extra outfit for each, this is is assuming that Capcom is finally doing something decent with the story mode tho
am i wrong or alternate colors are now sold instead of unlockable ?
