Do YOU do any Martial Arts?

you just block. Basically at 3 weeks in you are more so focusing on the mechanics of blocking. You will have your low, high and mid block stances. So you use those accordingly

Tkd sparring. Just get kicked. You will block with your elbows and hurt peopleā€™s feet

Fag

Found a group the other day that does traditional Chinese martial arts as well as forms and stuff, sounds like it may be fun to brush up with and mess around with going to see what it is all about next week. For some reason in my head I had Tung Fu Rues theme from the first Fatal Fury immediately go into my head, probably wont meet master Roshi but it should be a fun diversion at the very least. Looking forward to it.

Naw man your hoping you find your Sifu is smoking some opium somewhere, then you know in a few years your gonna have some godlike skills, before presumably going on the roids and developing an addiction to pain killers. Hmmm just dont teach what you learn and you will be fine. xD

I been having no luck finding a boxing gym They are either too far or too expensive for me.

I did however find a Jiu Jitsu school close to me, but it had UFC and tapout stuff on the door. Should I even bother checking it out?

Oh and shoutouts to @Maxx for his feedback on my karate questions.

Aikido is a part of my life since more than 13 years now and it is a great martial art.

Unfortunately there are not many Aikido chars in FG ā€¦ 8(

Who is the instructor at the gym, and how expensive are these boxing gyms or which affiliates are they?

All bjj schools peddle stuff in the front end store.

The mma gym i go to has connects to otm so there is some good stuff

What you should do is look up reviews on the school

Go check on underground and sherdog about how legit the grappling is

The only good forums on sherdog is the training forums, the mma/boxing/k-1 places just house trolls and dumbasses

I am in socal and my gym is legit with grappling

The Jiu Jitsu school actually has 5 stars from Google reviews.

They even posted a video to get an idea of a class.

Iā€™m strongly considering going itā€™s between this and another gym

Both have great reviews and arenā€™t too far from me. So Iā€™m gonna definitely check them out.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I looked at a bunch of boxing gyms. They ranged from 80 to 200 monthly the cheaper ones are really far south or west.

this far from you http://version2.torresmartialarts.com/

Yes itā€™s extremely far. I would definately check it out if it was closer.

So wrestling has been interesting. This kid who boxes joined. He will be soooo good when Iā€™m done. I love the hunger he has when asking me to show him moves and wanting to lift with me. I have been adding some judo and a lot of bjj elements to practice. One kid who was wrestling was annoyed with how I just keep getting out of moves and reversing. Shout out to @dab00g and @maxx for some insight.

BTier Bison does martial arts

Your kids will definitely not be shooting for singles and doubles. But drill those.

What you should also drill is sprawling and just being heavy. A lot of people seem to not want to stay in a spot when they have control.

But you know. Since they are newbs. Let them work mostly on defensive wrestling

Shooting is the main thing along with sprawling. I just switch it up. Also forcing them to get bridges down. The biggest thing I tell them is equate getting put on your back as losing. So a lot of stuff. I tell them to make your opponent carry you and himself. Make him work. But for some reason doubles are a problem for them. One kid keeps trying to out power those who are stronger. So Iā€™m trying to get him to wrestle smarter. Oh I had a meet tomorrow but majority of my team is injured. And itā€™s over the dumbest stuff. So when they recover they will be put through the ringer.

Randy Orton has a legit warm up, that involves stetching and bridging and a lot of core shit.

I think it was online somewhere

Man,i wish you coached my school dj :frowning: nice to hear youre coaching tho

love it manā€¦keep up updated. ill try and throw you some bjj warm ups and drills that could apply to wrestling when i get a chance.

Shrimping
Bear crawls
Crab walks
Duck walks
Sprints
Skips
Gator crawls

All these add them to your warm up

Also suicides

Make them hate you

I have one exercise where one guy has to wear a karate belt and the other one lays on the ground and holds the belt and the guy wearing the belt has to drag him across the room and back by doing crawls. Apparently they get winded after 7 minutes of warmup, and I know I am going light. Man its only gonna get worse. Our next meet is on the 30th so I only have a few weeks to get them ready.
