Yeah, I guess so. I joined whenever…almost ten years ago. Before here the only other forum I looked at was…shinakuma.com…I think thats what it was called. I cant remember, it was another fighting game site, and it had all them rankings and shit…fuck, been so long I dont remember what any of that shit is called anymore. But I found SRK there and then that site closed and SRK was where I stayed. Ive always only really looked at GD. I may wander into another forum section every few years or so.

The old SRK forum was a war zone. Everyone was unforgiving. A lot of the threads you’d go into would have flames running rampant with people constantly raping each other in the face. I joined GD a bit later in Mar 2003. It was a good era to take part in. Was there for the Bloofy saga, people busting nuts over Beatrice, S.AM(?) owning RC $$ due to unpostable Akuma thread, Roxie getting beasted, SPAC LOCK & ESC PLAN ms paint drawings, Gaia forum warfare (which was stupid as they have infinitely more members) and a whole bunch of things already mentioned. Not sure if GD changed or my interest has, but the forum does not seem nearly as addictive as once before.
Oh yeah remember SRK’s old catchphrase “competive edge”? Shit went unnoticed and then Christmas was ruined when someone made a thread spotting out the typo.
My story gets better, too. It was during lunch on a field trip. It was for a small class, so we all went in cars driven by a handful of the parents. We went to the mall for lunch so we could partake in the food court and have more options to eat, plus there was the arcade there. After lunchtime was over, one guy wanted to switch cars with me because he liked one of the girls in my car. Problem: he never bothered to tell the car he was leaving what the deal was, and they had already left…leaving me stranded at the mall for like 3 hours afterward, which I filled by playing Street Fighter II.
My first SRK posts were in 2k1, I definitely enjoyed the Gaia Raids. Then me and MMDS had the troll wars, competing for who could troll harder. GangstaWangsta MVC2 Gamergirl, WangstaGangsta, all of that good stuff. I still remember HMC General’s annual Believe in God threads. I fondly remember the Worst Commercial annual threads, and when ‘thatvideosite’ was bigger than youtube. I had a General Discussion addiction it seemed and I actually considered myself “retiring” from General Discussion. I absolutely hated when they added all those new rules and got super strict. The marijuana debates used to be the BEST. I wonder sometimes if I’m too old for SRK now.

SF2 and fighters D-Bo’d every genre in the arcade, until the arcade was no more. Daytona was one of the few games that withstood the FG explosion.
I first saw SF2 inside an AM-PM store. Didn’t know what it was, just saw this yellow freak flipping around and emitting electricity.
