OG isn’t a SF specific term and Socal didn’t invent it. Socal thinking they were the best in the world was like any other region thinking they’re the best, the main difference Socal players traveled more but B3 and then EVO were close anyway. North East rarely visited and Canada got completely ignored. I can’t blame them though. You got to see it to believe it. Justin played for a while and then he came to CTF and scrubbed the regulars and everyone was like look at this guy out of nowhere and then when he traveled to EVO he was dominating year after year. Though if he wouldn’t have went, west coast would probably still think they were the best. Sanford wasn’t even going to go to that EVO that year he won MvC2. North East had tons of killers in the mid 90s, unfortunately you didn’t have internet like you have now and not everyone carried cell phones and could insta-text anyone. People would get jumped just to get their hands on footage of top players so they could steal tactics for money matches. Anyways, arcades are long dead. RIP.

Sanford’s first Evo, I think was like 2k5 or something and he took 7th. I think he tried to go in 2k4 but got busted a few days before he was to leave for jumping a turnstyle in the subway… rumors though, idk if that’s the truth.
I used to nag on dudes, saying that NAHHHH Sanford was top 3 Marvel, and WC OGs used to be all up on Justin’s nuts, saying that he’s the only thing EC has… Meanwhile, we had Josh Wigfall, Brandon, X, SmoothViper, Chris Matrix for a bit, etc… Plus all of those other OGs that didn’t go to majors like Javier (Khameleon), Lincoln Dragongod Morris, Pungza, Liston, Remix1213, BlueJay, Starsomething?, and a bunch more - but nobody knew who half these dudes were until like 2k5 or 2k6… Pfft, EC always had the beasts.
