Yeah, IIRC the NPC’s name is Gawin and he hangs by the tents and fire pit, on the right as you enter the fort.
Everyone should do themselves a favour and play this game on hard mode (tactical) btw, not honor mode, fuck dat having one save. The game pushes you to your limits.
After having some issues with a fight in the fort I was literally scouring the map for SOMETHING that would help me out. And the game does a good job hiding stuff from you that you will only find if you’re paying extra attention. Clearing up a fight gives you so many options, it feels liberating, till you meet the next fight and your back to a facing a wall again. Reminds me a lot of those old brutal computer games.
There’s literal AREAS with enemies and NPCs you can completely miss if you’re not paying attention.
I just really love how in this game and the last, there are no throwaway, trash mob fights. That’s one of my biggest pet peeves with most RPGs and D:OS just says “fuck that noise” and gives you hand-crafted fights for each and every battle.
As a bonus, the fact that they don’t repeat and the corpses stay around gives a sense of permanence to the world, which is a nice touch.
Now that there is phys armor and magic armor… is it just me or is having a mixed party bad? I have 3 physical and 1 mage with healing spells. My mage is totally useless because she has to break through the magic armor before she can do anything so she is just a healer now.
Man that is pretty disappointing. How did they overlook that or was it intentional? I don’t see how it could be a good thing though? My ranger’s elemental arrows are useless too.
I don’t really want to start over(I’m about a few hours after escaping the fort) so I’m gonna download that mod that lets your respec in the beginning.
Edit: Heh… there’s actually a mod that reduces the armor and puts those points into the enemy’s vitality instead. So you still have to deal the same amount of damage to kill them. I will decide how I want to continue playing the game tomorrow I guess.
Also I looked up how soon I can respec and doesn’t seem that far away.
Its not useless, Elemental Arrowheads adds damage to your shots. On enemies who have high physical and low magic armor, it can help chip down a targets MA. That way your mage can help burst that guy down.
Its also situational to say, make a fire arrow and ignite a poison or oil surface.
That said, my ranged member is a Ranger (Hunt/Pyro) so they get Searing Daggers and Haste anyway.
My mage is pretty strong now so I can actually play mix. I’ll have to make 1 of my phys damager dealers a hybrid too. Nice that you can change the appearance of the premade characters. I changed Lohse into a nice brunette.
This game too good. I have witcher 3 and dragon’s dogma, but I haven’t put more than 10 hours into either game. They are good, but idk, they just don’t draw me in like Divinity does. I’ll eventually return to them.
