I try to reset as soon as damage scaling knocks it down to 30%. I wouldn’t say Honda is 7-3. If he didn’t have ex headbutt and buttslam I could see it being 7-3 but as is it’s at worst its 6-4. You still have to work to get in. He still hits like a truck. He can stuff dive kicks on reaction with his jab. The only 7-3 Yun might have is Sim.
I dunno, reset into crossup shoulder, reset into command grab, reset into low forward, whatever.
Yeah, damn truck hands
Any general tips for waking up on a good Akuma? (I’m on the ground, and he’s applying vortex)
There isn’t a single answer to all of his mixups. You’re going to get hit by one eventually unless you have amazing defense and are a mindreader. My advice is just to be very observant when he knocks you down. If it’s a good Akuma and he lands a forward throw on you I would not challenge his jump in with a DP(at least not every time) because he has a very easy safe jump off his forward throw. If he knocks you down you just have to be very observant and try to block and tech to the best of your abilities. I wouldn’t backdash too often on wakeup either because he can OS sweep you and restart the entire situation.
I honestly haven’t figured out a good way to fight Akuma’s vortex with Yun yet, so I just focus on apply the most pressure first and try my hardest to not get knocked down or eat a sweep.
Thank god that Yun can duck under his F.RH(with a nice punish), hits/stuns hard and can’t be Tatsu sweeped.
So I found out that u can tell the diff between fake palm and real palm by watching the meter. The real ones build the mete when yun pulls his hands back so there is time to tell
Wouldn’t you already know the difference by then without looking at meter?
I found that when I fight against Akuma, his vortex depends on whether or not he safe jumps. Any non-safe jump setup will usually answer in a LK dragon kick, depending on whether or not he crosses up so that you do it late. If he does safe jump, you’re just going to have to block and make sure your defense is solid (late teching so that you do not eat counter-hits, watch for those setups where he likes to cancel to demon flip, which you can punish with dragon kick, or jump-back fierce, or even more - just let your imagination flow).
As for backdashing, you should try and do focus backdash; because you’re already in the blocking position, doing focus backdash will allow you to only tap back once in order to backdash b/c of the buffer leniency in the game engine; furthermore, in cases where option select sweep would happen, you would focus absorb the jab so that when he tries to sweep OS, the jab counts as a hit and the sweep will not come out.
Be careful about doing FA backdash. If Akuma sniffs it out, he can still reaction sweep.
He can also demon flip palm, demon flip throw and OS an ultra… I would not do a focus back dash.
He means FA the cr.LP, not FA on wakeup. Obviously FA on wakeup is a terrible idea against Akuma’s vortex.
No because like I stated he builds the meter when he draws his hands back not after he thrusts them forward…Ty though for ur post
Dumbest question to ever be put in this thread
But im 100% serious
What version (lk, mk, hk) do you use to fucking cross up? Can you combo afterword? I can get it to hit but I cannot get it to combo into a cr lp or st lp This is the only reason that EVER makes me think about picking Yang. I can cross up w his jump mk.
Other than that, Yun is MILES ahead of Yang.

after this convo, Fei Long sent me a friend invite. True story.
Lots of good stuff going on in this thread.
i wanna learn how to play yun a bit better can anybody help me out on xbl NGB 2 Sliick
lk dive kick…will only combo if they’re crouching or if it’s meaty. Probably also on counter hit. Forget about doing a crossup and comboing if your opponent is standing.
I mostly do it on wakeup and it’s pretty easy to combo into.
Command grab, s.mp xx EX lunge only works if your opponent’s in the corner, correct? It seems like he has a cl.mp where he doesn’t move forward.
There are some characters where you can do it midscreen but I don’t have a list atm. If anything, you can go for TC5 (lp xx lk xx mp) EX lunge instead midscreen.
I just made this blog but I’m probably gonna fill it with a whole bunch of Yun notes and Yun match video analysis.
dash under him!!! lol, i’ve done it after i block the 2nd wave of vortex after blocking the first.
