I watched it, I’m not saying Aris didn’t fuck up,l I’m saying she could have talekd to him adn he would ahve stopped. And fuck, why aren’t you guys mad at the people who just stoody by and let it happen? damn.
Lol if the FGC is problematic then don’t get involved. No problem.
Re: the Aris thing, the world would be a better place if women and femininity were not guarded from criticism or derision. Nothing should be off limits. Women are being treated like children, shielded from any negativity or adverse character. Hurt a woman’s feelings and watch the torches and pitchforks come out. If you’re serious about inclusiveness and tolerance, then temper that ideal with the maturity of knowing that diversity goes further than skin colour or gender. There are also different kinds of people. Some people might be assholes and you’re going to run into a few as you live your life. Get fucking used to it.
You know, for a group that is “supposed” to be “intelligent” and have done massive research, their amount of evidence sure is lacking if they have to bring up the same incidents over and over and over again.
Well, if in the FGC a minority being “highly problematic player culture” means the entire community is problematic, then a few people being murderers and rapists at MIT means everyone at MIT is a murderer and a rapist, which is far worse than name-calling on stream…
You mean Miranda who was laughing at points of the jokes, leading Aris to believe she was okay with it? She should have done more about it to prevent it, that isn’t victim blaming, it’s common sense. If somebody says something stupid to you in a real life situation at a tournament, sinking into yourself and pouting doesn’t do shit. Go tell a tournament organizer, or practically anybody at a tournament and get them to stop. It is YOUR responsibility to get it known, especially if nobody is around, because what is and isn’t offensive in an environment like this is completely subjective.
For all the people saying Aris specifically targeted Miranda, I guess they missed all the other insults and jokes directed towards other members of the cast, plus the exact same jokes that got targeted towards Ricky. But he’s a guy, so that’s okay. SJW are the worst, lol.
I actually spoke to her about it for a laugh when it originally started, and the conversation went along these lines:
Her: Why didn’t she properly communicate her distaste? Not everybody can pick up on body language.
Me: Who knows, but this is apparently vicious misogyny.
Her: … But there wasn’t hatred? He was being a git (dickhead in Australianese), but it takes two to tango, I don’t see how this is misogyny or vicious, she should probably communicate her position better in future.
Then she left because she didn’t understand how people were so thin skinned and unwilling to defend themselves, as she has met a lot of dudes and dudettes at the local arcade (she used to work the bar there while finishing some medical shit at Uni) and we always clown on eachother. Maybe it’s different because my mother actively does things for women’s rights and rehabilitation overseas, but she has always thought this new wave feminist idea of WOMEN ARE PRECIOUS COMMODITIES THAT WE HAVE TO PROTECT AT ALL COSTS BUT CLAIM THEY HAVE EQUAL RIGHTS AND DOWNSIDES AS MEN is fucking stupid, too.
Lol what? Are you fucking serious? So let’s elevate women onto some arbitrary pedestal and for what? So they don’t run the risk of having a fucking social interaction with the lesser sex?
Women deserve equal rights, silly, and we’re only equal if women have the right to strike another human being whenever they feel offended. Of course, striking them back would be sexist and unmanly, so take your lumps like a man, because real men bend their knee to somebody strictly because of their gender or skin colour!
Maybe she was laughing out of embarrassment or pity? Also, I agree, Miranda could have said something. Aris also could have stopped and realized that he was getting into some really rude territory. What is offensive and isn’t offensive is subjective true, but common sense dictates that if you’re being sexist and gross, you’re probably being offensive. Simply because no one says anything doesn’t mean that you’re not being offensive.People should realize when they are being offensive and stop, it is called social awareness.
Also, “but there wasn’t hatred” is subjective.
Hypocrisy Logical Fallacy. Simply because Aris said jokes to other cast members doesn’t make them okay, it doesn’t excuse Aris from blame nor does it make the situation any better.
I’ve never heard of this new wave and I’m a feminist. In fact, the it is the same fight we’ve had for the last 30 years in my book. Complete with Abortion rights, labor rights, how public policy on poverty disproportionally affects women and all that good stuff.
Why hide the problem? Aris was “bold” enough to be childish on the camera/in public, I’m sure he can handle the consequences on camera/in public as well.
As you seem to completely fail to grasp the core concept of the argument, I’ll put it in bolder, easier to read terms.
**If somebody is treated in the exact same fashion as every other person in the immediate area, they are equal to the treatment of other people. Saying that women get treated unfairly and in a way that nobody else does then becomes factually wrong and removes most of the legs from your argument. Aris was being a dick, but she chose not to do the smart thing and tell him to stop, expecting every single person to pick up on your body language is idiotic and if she was in possession of any semblance of a spine, she would have stood up for herself or gotten somebody else to do it if she feels she doesn’t have the gall to do it.
If anybody is sexist, it’s people like you that think that women have to be handled with kiddy gloves because they’re emotionally fragile and unable to take the same flak as men. Guilt yourself and feel bad for being born with a dick, but don’t expect anybody with a spine to follow suit.**
Nah, you’re right. Creepy guys that weigh 100lbs more than a woman should be allowed to sniff their hair whenever they want to…
Get real, dude. You’re overcompensating with your anti-feminist views. Taking philosophical ideals to the extreme is never a good idea.
By the way, I think if he smells a guy, the guy should be able to punch him in the nuts as well. Just seems like a fair response to such a creepy move.
People forget that you have every right to be a dick. People also have every right to be mad at you for being a dick. If those people have a problem with you, hopefully they’re adult enough to say something about it. If you’re laughing and playing along, that’s your contribution to the situation. Be an adult and realise that your outward behaviour evokes certain responses. Most people wouldn’t have gone as far as Aris did, but Aris is not most people.
The fact that these events are still even being discussed highlights how protected and sheltered women are and how completely bunk the whole idea of women being hated or unwelcome in the scene is. Lol imagine if Aris made some dude cry, do you think we’d still be talking about it? Lol fuck no. He probably did make some dudes cry too.
So if a girl smells me should I be able to give her a good one in the tits? What if she’s a female bodybuilder? Does that change anything?
Mancub is a notorious misogynist, trust me, I’ve read some of his previous posts. He approves of beating women (physical/domestic abuse), thinks men have less rights than women, and well…u can draw ur own conclusions from his posts here.
To Mowr…Sure we all have rights to be dicks, I can go up to a black person and call him a ‘n**er’ and that’s perfectly okay. I can go up to a jewish person and say the holocaust was a joke. Yup, freedom of speech dude, I can say whatever the fuck I want. That is what u r pretty much saying.
She was being filmed while being verbally assaulted/sexually harassed so she was likely extremely embarrassed and hoping he would just stop. It isn’t hard to read her awkwardness and obvious discomfort.
The FGC (and other video game communities) aren’t exactly known for being a bunch of socially apt studs. Rather most people think of them as socially awkward/stunted nerds that need to hit the gym who have never had relations of any kind with a woman. Wonder what the mainstream think when seeing that video?
Notorious misogynist. I think violence against anybody innocent is unjustifiable, but if a girl slaps me and restraining her and telling her to stop trying to claw my eyes out isn’t enough, you’re damn right I’ll slap her square in the face. If you expect somebody to risk their sight or something else purely because the attacker is female, then you’re a fucking pussy.
Nice to know you and the rest of the bitchmade feminists here don’t know the definition of misogyny.
I bet he wouldn’t do it again. Quick and effective.
But I’m probably one of those guys you snub your elitist nose at, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. But don’t smell my hair, because it will hurt more than words
I’d bet he’d attempt to beat your ass back and now we have a fight when one could have been avoided, or better yet just have charges of assault brought up on your animalistic thinking ass. But oh no I’m an elitist cuz I’m not a homophobic moron with the mental fortitude of a 3rd grader.
As if calling me an elitist somehow makes your train of thought not retarded as fuck.
