The picture on the page is of a Smash reference and both of their percents are at 100% instead of 0% or something. Also the girl isn’t even a trans-sexual, definitely not FGC enough.
These people should see all the comments on any other video on the internet with a girl in it, youll see similar bad behavior from other 14 year olds.
Whoa whoa whoa, this woman on the stream compares us to the Star Craft players like only rich kids with PC’s who play games are good people, proper and high class. Elitist idiot.
These people dont know shit about everyone and are just looking at Aris as representing the whole community. They should see how Aris was doing commentating at Evo before his Cross Assault gig, and didnt do any commentary this year.
I wrote to them on youtube and facebook since i dont have a twitter account. I couldnt find a email address to send a message to. I hope they recant their horribly researched lecture.
Them trying to explain the definitions behind Yipesisms was really, really funny.
They are also right about the FGC being incredibly sexist. I love the FGC but the heteronormative sexism in this scene is painfully open.
They are right on the money with why the FGC is more or less minority dominated. However, they suffer from the tendency many people have nowadays where talking about race is for some reason considered to be racism, going into detail about why the FGC is mostly made up of poor minorities =/= racism.
I have to disagree with them on pad players. No one really talks trash about pad players anymore, if anything, they’re called out for being pad warriors(Usually a positive calling out).
The subtitle of “Too Afraid to ask” is… interesting to say the least.
An admirable goal, I’ve always wanted to see a class or study group analyze th-
Nice blanket statements.
These people have no idea what they’re talking about. Never thought I’d see the day when Yipes was to be critically analyzed under the lens of sociological research.
I’m watching this whole presentation and wow this is really every where and confusing and so much misinformation.
It reminds me of the letters we would read in school from explorers telling people about distant lands and how savage and weird the people of these lands are.
Okay, real talk for a second people. Now, Aris is what I will refer to as a “Jerk”. Jerks tend to just drift around, and sometimes Jerks get into places we don’t want them, like communities, and these jerks stick out like a sore thumb. But heres a thing, Jerks don’t normally just magically become Jerks because they joined something, I bet he’d be a giant, full blast douchenozzle if he was a competitive Rock Paper Scissors player!
Humans tend to focus more on the bad stuff (basic survival instinct!) than the good. Out of curiosity, For every Aris, how many people like you and I are out there just wanting to play some video games? Probably a whole bunch.
Now that I’ve had some time playing with the American FGC coupled with my previous experience with my fellow Canadians, I’d generally call shenanigans on this one. Generally 95% of the people have been super cool. I’ve met a whole bunch of nice girls, I’ve met a whole bunch of nice dudes, and the inverse! I suppose what I’m trying to say here is, These things are going to happen everywhere, people just notice them more because they’re in a smaller group of people.
(Feel free to replace “Jerk” With “Fucknugget” if you so desire.)
Please note that this course has required reading assignments from scientific journals such as Kotaku.
You mean people like you who judge a person based on hearsay and cherry picking single sentences out of context without actually knowing the guy?
Lynch mobbing without bothering to get all the facts doesn’t really make you look any better, yet tons of people gladly embrace this attitude in a knee-jerk fashion.
Don’t do unto others what you don’t want others do unto you. If someday you’ll make a mistake, I’ll respect you enough by not judging you before I get all the facts. Innocent until proven guilty. Even though many people would rather think about life in simple black and white, shit is never this simple.
I will admit I did fly off the handle there and I do apologize. I suppose I’m just trying to give my side of things from my experiences with this sort of subject. (It’s a long and very sore subject.) Yes, You do make a good point with the whole “Lynch Mob” idea, and I suppose that would be the general Idea of what folks are trying to say here. Which I tried to explain and ended up being the example.
Trying not to dwell on this too much, but I believe the young lady was referring to the terminology for sticks instead of trying to make a comparison between a stick and another device like a pad.
I will agree, however, that this presentation was…lacking…
