Alright, so I’ve been having a discussion about how Super Turbo’s broken or not (which I clearly believe it is, while a friend of mine thinks it’s balanced simply cuz of the match-ups). I’m curious as to what everyone here thinks on the matter on whether or not Super Turbo is broken/unbalanced/whatever, as well as any other fighting games in general.
Oh shit.
You done fucked up.
Yeah its pretty fuckin broken!
Pretty much this.
But broken compared to WHAT? A game where half the cast is outright competitive and most of the rest of the cast are till useful in counter matchups and are still capable and diverse enough to compete on their own merits if you so choose?
The game is solid. One could perhaps argue how balanced it is (very balanced/not as balanced as people tend to think), but BROKEN? Do you even know what that word means?
What is Broken about ST? O.Sagat? Projectiles? Just say it so we have carte blanche into stomping a hole into you.
Hrm…alright. So broken might not be the word for it, since balanced can work just as well I suppose (at least it’s more balanced than say…DoA, MK or Tekken I think, even though it’s been eons since I’ve played any of those games).
If you want people to do anything besides yell at you, you’re going to have to at least put up some sort of argument as to why you think ST isn’t balanced.
I guess the thing that comes to mind for me is the infinite blockstuns I’ve seen (and been hit with), as well as some of the cross-ups I’ve seen that are just ridiculous (then again, dunno if the cross-ups here are as bad as in other games like MvC2 or SFA3 V-Ism from what I’ve seen x_x). Though I was also referring to other fighting games as well in comparison to this game too for the discussion ^^;
Granted, that might not make the game unbalanced so…yeah…as stated, I meant this more to be a general discussion than anything of fighting games, but meh. I’d like to hear what you guys think of the game being balanced/unbalanced anyways now.
There’s infinite blockstun in ST?
C’mon you gotta have a better argument than that…
And I’m assuming there’s infinite blockstuns in alot of other games then? Cuz I haven’t really seen anything like it in any other games.
This is worse than the “Rainbow Mika is hot” thread.
Alright, so thinking about it, I can’t really come up with anything that’s really broken about it after all (since you can reversal blockstuns, even though I have yet to see it. Need to see a vid for that). So maybe I’m just extremely rusty at the game then and am just used to the speed and play of the newer games like CvS2 and KOF XI.
Though now I have to ask, since this topic seems to be focused mainly around ST now, do you think it’s the most balanced fighter out there or not?
At least that was accurate.
There is no infinite blockstun in ST. You can counter throw, or special on the exact second that you come out of blockstun, which is so small you might not be able to notice if you haven’t been taught how to play it. There is no infinite blockstun in any game (worth mentioning) as far as I know.
I am assuming you either got locked down by dictators repeated tick-throw attempts, or just saw someone spamming Sagat’s fireballs and didn’t know how to get out.
There are more balanced games then ST, but then you have to argue there merit on qualities such as variety and mind games. A game based purely on rock-paper-scissors mechanics is pretty balanced, but really sucks.
The two other games I have heard are close to as balanced as ST are Guilty Gear: Accent Core and VF5, but I don’t really know anything about those games.
SF4 feels pretty balanced so far. :lovin:
Aye, I have been locked down by dictator’s tick-throws, as well as with Chun-Li’s. Sagat I really don’t have problems with his fireballs (then again, I haven’t fought Sagat but probably twice since I started replaying again).
As for GG: AC being balanced…hmm…I guess I can kinda vouch for that, seeing as me and my same bud were pretty even in that with everyone (sometimes one had more advantage of course granted). Can’t say anything on VF5 though so…
Balance more refers more to higher level play though.
ST is fairly balanced. Remix will hopefully bring it to the level of GGAC and VF5 in terms of that.
And just to reiterate, no infinite blockstuns in ST.
“So broken it’s balanced.”
We are having a discussion about fighting games in fighting games discussion? This the most incredible thing I have ever seen.
Uhm, there’s an ST board, and this is a dumb thread.
if you want broken, then play marvel or tekken 5.0
ST is pretty balanced, you just need skills, and from your argument, you dont have that
