Discrimination Against Anime Fighting Games

You forgot Slam Masters.

I played VP and watched a lot of AP and I don’t really understand why do you claim the latter is a bastardization of the former. Please elaborate.

Discrimination Against Chilean Fighting Game Players.

Man Soul Calibur is just as bad as AH. Poor Astaroth is only eight years old and half naked. Poor shota.

Yeah the whole VP/AP thing makes no sense to me either.

THAAANK YOUUU

This is the point my first post in this thread was trying to make, but somehow didn’t translate through some of the readers here for some reason.

Good Point.

No fighting game in history has, or ever will surpass HNK. EVER

…EVER

Well VP managed to do something unique with the fact that you can’t do 2 in 1’s or combos at all without using an assist (unless you got CH status on something), so the assists were unimaginably important for more then just spacing / footsies.

AP has the same canned assists but they’re not necessary at all, and feel like they were thrown in there last minute just to shove more characters into the game.

I suppose I could just say AP doesn’t do much with the mechanic and isn’t really bastardizing VP my mimicking it, but I didn’t.

Sorry~

So how do you feel about MvC1?

Did you at least plat it first, angel?

I did… then traded it the fuck in.

…I like to imagine that the store credit for that particular trade-in went towards Dark Souls or KOF13, and that the GoW13 part went towards UMVC3.

It assuages my conscience.

Gay anime fans perhaps?

Also those kind of people having any real relationship was just me being funny. We all know the truth when it comes to the matter.

Just a little bit. I was dissapointed with the effects the gave my man Rei. Also it felt limited as fuck but I thought that was just because you were just starting out. Guess I will never know…

Hah say’s the guy that joined tuesday?
Either post from your real account or stay free.

I will admit that AH3 was kind of a bad game. I got it purely because someone told me it was going to be really awesome and it was good for maybe 15 minutes before I was like “yeah…not for me”. I WILL defend that Blazblue (especially CS2) isn’t nearly as bad as some people have said it is in terms of the “anime fighter basics”, and stuff. I also admit that I can’t comment on the “Blazblue is not Guilty Gear” comparison because I didn’t play a Guilty Gear game until AFTER I played BB, but had heard a crap ton about it when I heard “the guys who made GG made BB” and picked up CT. Of course…this probably would be a bad time to mention being a Sakura and Xianghua player and that I use Yuri and sometimes Kula on my KOFXIII teams…

That being said, I DID think Skullgirls was supposed to be an anime-like game. And I’m not just saying that because I dislike it either.

???
The assists give you HUGE benefits in every aspect of the game.
They can turn simple ground combos into damaging juggles; They can give you a big reward from a usually harmless overhead; The help you keep people out; They help you get in; They even let you have a completely safe dragon punch once in a while.
To say assists aren’t necessary is like saying super meter isn’t necessary to win in Melty Blood. Yeah you can technically win without it but why ignore great tools and options that the game gives you?

They’re really NOT necessary, the game can operate fine without assists, I (<~ KEY WORD HERE) just feel the threw them in there just to have them, not to explore different venues with it. I don’t entirely know much of the game anyway, so if they make a normal character into shin ultra omega kawaii master tsundere death bringer then that’s cool.

Ease up, I’ll be playing AP when it comes out anyway, probably.

Red Venom <3

What does this mean? That it has airdashes? The art style is pretty american if you ask me.

Exactly, I get more of a Tex Avery/Golden Age vibe from the character designs as well.

Game needs more male characters.

Agreed. But there will be male characters eventually, you just have to be patient. Besides, it’s not about the gender of the characters it’s about the gameplay.

Every now and then a thread like this gets made. My question is, why do anime game players try to ignore the “obvious” when it comes to their games? A rhetorical question, but one to ponder…

Shush you, I like me over you in CvS2 forever.

They should have made a wolf dude in a tuxedo that is constantly drooling over the females and a Sambo character that shines your shoes when ever he does low attacks. Then it would truly be golden age.
