Differences between CVS2 from Dreamcast to Xbox?

Basically what the title says. I don’t have a Dreamcast at the moment so I’ve been playing all my fighting games that I have emulated on my Xbox. Is CVS2-EO for Xbox pretty close to the dreamcast version? If not what did they fix and what other differeces are there? Thanks in advance for the help. :karate:

The graphics suck on xbox compared to dreamcast. The dreamcast version says " Capcom vs snk 2, millenium fighting 2001" instead of “Capcom vs snk 2, mark of the millenium 2001”. Ultra Rugal is called God Rugal on DC. There’s no EO mode. That’s all I can think of.

Xbox has online capabilites (although it does lag quite a bit), it also has the extra grooves which have like auto guard and other riduculous stuff, they took out RC’s. I’m not sure about this but I think you can do a super cancel in P groove. The Dreamcast is pretty much just the opposite, no online, only CAPSNK grooves, RC’s are still there.

I think the damage for certain characters has been decreased such as blanka, sagat, bison. Also the paint the fence combo has been weakened along with sakura’s a groove combo. RC has been removed, not the best version.

That’s what I figured that they took out RC’ing. sigh Oh well, I guess I’ll just break down and get a dreamcast. It’s only like 20 bucks for a new one from EB now anyways.

So is the DC version the best because this is the one i own but im also thinking of picking up the xbox version for dobly digital

BTW i cant do RCs so :stuck_out_tongue:

Check the CvS2 general strat, Buktooth should have a thread on it, it’s called something like Read this before posting if you’re new.

Now Yer Talkin Bout It
Hows The PS2 Version
Ive Seen Its Like DC Version

What Do You Think

PS2 version is uglier and has no online support. Who cares though because I assume the DC online support is long dead, why would you bother playing on 56k.

The Playstation Version is almost the same as the Arcades. I’ve never seen the Dreamcast Version. The Gamecube version is awesome, however, the controls can be quite confusing. I’m going to say this in my opinion:
PS2 - Best
XBOX - Worst(Though I’ve never played it, but I’ve seen it and I didn’t like how it was)
GCN - OK
DC - Never Played It
Arcade - 2nd Best

This is my opinion.

Excuse my ignorance, but whats RC?

roll cancel. your moves go through other guy’s moves. tap roll RIGHT before you do the move.

^ Roll Cancel. People bitch about it being used and it’s taken out of the Xbox version and people still bitch.

I have the Xbox version and it plays just fine…although I’m not a fan of the Xbox pad, but if I could find a coverter and use the SF Anninversary Pads that would be pretty boss

Uh no.

Arcade > DC > PS2 > Xbox > GC

The PS2 version is the same as the DC and Arcade versions, if you have the Import PS2 version and a HD, then loading times are even faster than the DC version.

The only real difference between the PS2 and the DC/Arcade versions is appearance, the PS2 supports no anti-aliasing so it’s incredibly sharp and the colors bleed off the screen for most tvs.

But then again, the DC version is blurry as fuck on a nice tv.

Im Glad I Have The PS2 Version
So That Means RC Works On PS2 Right?

There’s RC in PS2 version, and PS2 version is just higher res than DC from what i’ve heard.

Don’t forget other characters do more damage like Maki (J.Fierce - C.Strong - S.Fierce - Kick Super on K Groove does like 85% or 90% damage on even ratio in this version) and Kyosuke.

And did someone mentioned X-Box version has longer load time?

RC versions = Arcade, PS2, & DC
Non RC versions = Xbox & GC

but the difference i’ve noticed from console to arcade is the game speed. Arcade is a bit slower paced. Not by much tho… but it makes those critical 1-6 frame links harder if you’re used to one speed trying to do it on the other.
And on Xbox (maybe gamecube too, i’m not sure) P groove has Super Cancels added… Which is pretty crappy if you ask me

Yes I have noticed that difference too, the only version that I have not played is XBOX but yes, DC looks kinda blurry an less colorful and PS2 looks not as blurry and very coloful, the downside its that the characters are more pixelated (no anti-aliasing as Kyoji says), I think Capcom kinda perfected that on PS2 with the games in SF:AC, both HYPER and SF3TS look clearer and colorful without the pixelation.

grafics on CvSNK2 on GC are better than DC and PS2 IMO, it has the bright colors and few blurryness of PS2 without the pixelation
