Did you buy STREET FIGHTER V? Then have some chill plz

I said it before and I’ll say it again. SFV was going to suffer out the gate due to negative reviews and casual backlash. Most of them already claim the games dead in the water when they fail to realize that Capcom had a plan in place for this game longevity. I love the game personally. Way more than I did USF4. Mostly, what I do is stay in the lab and play online, constantly improving my game. That’s what keeps me in there, that drive to “git gud” and improve. The rest of the content coming later is just a added bonus. I look forward to seeing the future of the game, and the launch will be an afterthought come the next gaming outrage everyone will eventually hop on the bashing bandwagon.

I can’t stress how important the launch date of a game is. It can make or break a game. SFV’s a launch mired with connection problems, lack of content and bad critical and mainstream reception. I’m not saying the game is “dead in the water”, but they definitely fucked up big time.

Lacking modes will arrive, bitches will still be bitches

End of days Caplol just overstimated mainstream brain

Only legit whining is about servers

DJ ever the optimist. I’m not sure I agree with most of your points, but I’d put them in the ‘I hope so’ category. It will definitely take a lot longer to fix than it did to fuck it all up.

What a mess tho. The game itself is fucking superb, or so it seems to me so far.

Its just everything else. Everything else is killing the game right now.
Want to use your stick? Fuck you
Single player content? You probably didn’t see our .jpg a week before launch? We ain’t got none.
Lets play online! You cant.
I’m gonna teach you some cool shit to use to own your friends! Soon…
Want a cool story? For the summer?
#RiseUp! By rage quitting

Its kinda inexcusable.

At the end of the day, SFV is a value proposition and the only people who don’t understand the value are dumb. The game is 60 dollars. The roster will expand by 6 for no additional money. New modes will be introduced for no additional money. The time will come (and it’s not far away) where the value of SF5 will far exceed 60 dollars and not cost a cent more.

I mean if you think Capcom is lying, that’s one thing. And if that’s the case, just wait until the extra content is released then make the decision. But if you believe that they are in fact including 6 additional characters etc. then paying 60 bucks for the game now is more than fair. I feel like this should be fairly straitforward, but gamers…not the sharpest of knives.

^This man defended DmC…

Just let that sink in when he starts calling people dumb for expecting a little more out of a $60 purchase out of the box.

I’m having fun with it. Grabbed on PS4 and Steam. I’m not worr-

I made a huge mistake.

That’s 6 months to a year away and/or 12,000 wins away and/or an additional 30 dollars away.

You also think that the time will come, you hope it will, you believe it will, but do you actually know it will? No you don’t. There are no real guarantees that SF5’s success or lack thereof will carry it for another 5-6 years like how SF4 did. This is the faith Capcom is selling you, who should be in the business of selling AAA games and not religion.

I have faith in Capcom believe it or not, I think they will pull through because SF5 is at its core - The best vanilla version Street Fighter game ever conceived. But people need to stop dismissing those who feel duped by Capcom’s business model. No one cares about an evo panel but the people who watched evo. Yes the information is out there, but Capcom was not upfront about it. We didn’t know about the missing modes until several weeks ago for example, and we’re the FGC. Joe Average (described perfectly in Max’s video above) is rightfully feeling duped by Capcom.

Bottomline - Don’t ask for a 60 dollar game TODAY if you are not going to deliver a 60 dollar game TODAY. Just because the business model is new, does not make it immune to criticism.

You defended Splatoon, a game that launched barebones and followed the same model this game has. All it’s essential components were added later. Stop being a hypocrite

SFV is for fans and then for not-fans
DmC was a blowjob to not-fans and a fuck you to fans

Different situations tbh

I think this whole online situation is just a scam in order to keep people from playing the game on a deeper level to realize how shit the actual fundamentals of the game itself are…fucking rushdown sim…not necro…but it has alex coming up…wtf

tl:dr
damn dude. why you write so much? review and trim the massive fat sometimes before you press ‘post comment’.

It would be easier to chill if the core game was functioning and all that was left was “content”, but that’s clearly not the case. The game’s borderline broken in its current state to the point where I question the technical competence of the team. Everything that’s good is the result of game design, not technology. I’m worried about their ability to fix it.

Even if SFV was a game just for the competitive online crowd, it’s failing at it. 2 player max lobbies, no rage quit solution, the leader boards are filled with false W/L records & rankings, and the stability of the netcode is erratic.

Its like Capcom didnt even try to learn from past games or address common online fighting gaming issues. You can take the whole single player features issue out of the conversation, and still see the absurdity of SFV as a product.

While I am enjoying SFV a lot just now its kind of like buying a £20k car and then getting told that you don’t get the drivers seat for 1 month, then after another month you get the passenger seat, month 3 you get the doors… Sure the car is going to work but its not going to be the £20k car you paid for until 12 months down the line which no one is going to like.

This is why I don’t understand the computer game industry they totally take advantage of their demographic, you think if you actually bought a car and then you were told the stuff above you would say ok? I dont think anyone would but yet game developers seem to push the boat out further and further to see what they can get away with

Totally understand the frustration and its only making Capcom look bad imo.

Comparing this to MOBAs and other eSports games, when they are either free (League, DOTA, HS, Heroes of the Storm) or cheap (CS:GO is £12 when not on sale), is a poor argument.

SFV as it is would sell as a budget title to get people in the door, and then the monetisation comes later. If you’re defending Capcom trying to have both ways, high price at the door and priced DLC later, then I really question your judgement. As a budget title it would still support the offline scene, and people won’t be put off by the price vs content.

I agree that folk should concentrate on the game if they like it, but god damn people have good reason to be salty. This game has fuck all in it to justify £45 compared to other games. I’m enjoying the game a lot, but don’t be delusional.

No it’s not like that at all. It’s like buying a build slot for a 20k car, with a clear rollout plan and a rental car thrown in that gets better and better every month.
They didn’t rob you, they didn’t rip you off, they were pretty clear on what you’d be getting at launch.
If you didn’t know that this wasn’t the full game when you spent the money, what the fuck were you doing? Were you surprised when you booted it up and found out it was a fighting game too? Were you pissed to find out that Ryu and Ken were back? All the information you needed was there.

As an incomplete game, I think SF5 should have been priced similar to Skullgirls.

Nailed it. Unnecessary loading times, server disconnects and maintenance downtimes (seriously ? is this an MMORPG ?), desync-prone netcode for reasons that were immediately called out by Mike Z, matchmaking not working for a lot of people, lounges not working, lack of DirectInput support and the list goes on.

All this is due to bad technology skills at Capcom. I’m afraid the “breathing plateform” does not include more than quickfixes even though some of these problems deserve in-depth tech involvement.

I love this game though and intend to play it for a long time.

MOBA games are a bit different though. They have a lot more stuff they can sell in the shop. They also have a lot more characters. So you got characters, skins, exp boosts, and then whatever other things your game has. MOBAs are also a lot bigger.

SF5 has what… costumes and characters? Maybe premium colors in the future? You get the full game with the $60.

If SF5 was going to be f2p, you would start with Ryu and Chun Li only similar to KI.
