Did Someone Say Chimichanga? - Deadpool Thread Reloaded!

Against Dante and Vergil, those Doom missiles are the key to that match-up. I suggest that if you ever ran into a good Dante or Vergil team, you should definitely counterpick. Dante is free to Deadpool zoning when he has missiles. Just always match his height level, if he’s on the ground lob grenades and be ready to punish his teleport. If he’s rockin’ out with his purple shit, just shoot him out of it.

The Vergil match-up is a little trickier since he can teleport behind both you and your assist on it’s start-up for a HBD. This match-up I’m always around double-jump height, and I let the Doom missiles initiate the zoning (in fear of teleport > helmbreaker) before I start letting bullets fly. Once you start a tempo your zoning, he should have no time to effectively teleport without you predicting it.

With both of the DmC bros, controlling the ground is key. Don’t let their beam assists pop off for a free teleport mix-up.

Off Topic: I’m really hope there’s a Galactic issue of some sort, murking Galactus and Thanos would be sweet.

Yeah I figured missiles destroy dante. I was using my DP/Doom/Task team against Dante but then switched to DP/Doom/Strider. Missiles do the same thing as vajra so I use Doom’s beam when I pick strider. I counterpick dante hard, I was just trying to be a hero using my task team :frowning: vajra just hits him out of teleports for free and gives me full combos off of it. I’ve also found that bad dantes expect jumping guns so you can jump up to bait teleports and then grab them out of it.

Same thing with Vergil, vajra’s the only assist I feel I can get any work done with on the twins.

Off Topic: He’s already offed the watcher, Galactus and Thanos don’t seem like longshots. Now Black Bolt? That’d be something. Hoping Lady Death plays into this somehow.

For Vergil, I like to usually rush him down with tick overheads, jabs and crouching lights (I run Deadpool, Doomy, El Wesker, so beam assist too for more pressure) and whenever he activates his swords, I just super jump to the top of the screen and stay rather floaty with Deadpool’s double jump and wall jump. As long as you don’t press buttons in the air, tech throws and let those swords run out, they waste a meter. I would stay it’s one of the safer and smarter options against Vergil and heck, might make them impatient having to chase you, which is a plus for you in the mind game department.

Off Topic: It is like the Deadpool comic I always wanted.

Yeah the only problem with rushing him down is that he has a huge range advantage. By the time one of your limbs can probably touch him, he can just stick out his sword halfscreen and catch you swinging. I honestly just corner myself against vergil and pray he screws up. I’d say that if the anchor character isn’t rediculously strong, xfactoring vergil as soon as you land a hit isn’t a bad idea.

A match-up I find tricky is Zero. To be honest, the match-up MIGHT be in a tad bit in Deadpool’s favor, and this is due to him not having the option to not deal with his mix-up bullshit at all. He outzones him since L guns have more projectile points than buster when both are fired at the same time. So basically, a Zero is NEVER on ground level with me.

The key to keeping Zero away is countering him in the air. When he super-jumps charging buster and you check him with jump H guns, he either takes the hit and loses his charge, or he blocks. Either way, he still has air actions via dash or command dash, and the fucking midget will continue to hover over your head ready to land with a j.H, so you have to be ready to be on the other side of the screen.

I don’t like challenging Zero’s normals and I hesitate to go on the offense against him because he can counter any of your mistakes with a confirm that = death. Just my thoughts on the match-up, I’d like to know your guy’s opinions on this since I’ll prolly play against one at RevLA.

Off Topic: It isn’t the Deadpool comic we need, but it’s the Deadpool comic we deserve. It’s a weird coincidence how I find every match-up in UMvC3 favorable against Marvel characters with the exception of Magneto, Dormammu, Taskmaster, and Phoenix.

Uhh Zero isn’t too bad for Deadpool to be honest. Once again I use vajra so all of Zero’s airdashing is kinda shut down, but without it the matchup is a lot harder. I just bait them to do stupid airdashing stuff and try to hit them with a bolo if I don’t have vajra to do that for me. Also, during grounded blockstrings, pushblock to standing M is godlike. If Zero doesn’t react properly you can stuff all of his normals and get a launch off of it. A lot of ZMC teams like to do a blockstring and call in Dante, but if you do the pushblock and standing M right before he comes out, you can catch both of them and get a birthday.
I’d have to agree about your statement on the Marvel chars, and with vajra assist Magneto and Task aren’t even an issue; I might say depending on the situation Hawkeye could be if you don’t have your teleports fresh. I still find Hulk very annoying but that’s only online where it’s like “OOP FRAME LAG, DROP YOUR INPUTS HERPDERP”. Capcom characters are Deadpool’s problem, namely Vergil, Spencer, and maybe Viper.

Off-topic: Wade has killed pretty much every main character relevant in the Marvel Universe besides the X-Men (I just picked up Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe 2) and they’re the focus of the next comic. I can only wait until this escalates to cosmic levels.
That and Aunt May and Mary Jane just hired Taskmaster to kill Deadpool. Shit is about to get so real.

@Wedge: I totally agree that we lack range in our normals against Vergil and for you as you run Deadpool/Doomy/Strider(?) with missile assist, I would say make him block the missiles and then get up in his face with those mix ups (tick overheads, crouching light and jabs). Man I love me those jabs.

@Realpolitix: I find against Zero, cross up overhead works 60 percent of the time, all the time. (giggle) I also like to bolo them when they try to make an approach if i am locking them down from across the screen, generally they like to use moves that leave them very vulnerable to it. Also, since Deadpool has one of (if not, the safest) teleports in the game, try to safely teleport out to get some space if your in the corner and analyze the zeros play style since Deadpool has so many tools which is one of the many reasons why I love playing him so much.

Off Topic: Taskmaster versus Deadpool…Let’s be honest…I’m not the only one with a little shit in their pants right now.

New Deadpool TV episode. I was dropping some stuff due to lag and DP+M kept coming out as madwheel for whatever reason, but there’s still some good stuff in there.

Double post and I know it, so sue me:
I’m purchasing some new recording equipment from a friend some time soon because my capture card is outdated trash. I’m planning on making an actual Deadpool guide- you know, by people who actually know the character- once I acquire it. Basically what Fingercramp did, except with useful and accurate information about the character. If anyone would care to help out, contact me through either here or youtube.

In terms of bad match ups–I’ve always found this curious:

Wesker Anchor-- usually in DPs favor.
Point Wesker + decent beam Assist–hell of a time.

Even though Wesker’s teleport’s are fairly shitty, if you play against someone who knows how to be less than predictable (AKA not always doing H teleport) I find it very tough because he’ll often end up behind you during a j. happy trigs–which with DPs shit health means death.

In my very humble opinion, Zero match ups often depend upon the assists by both players. The one place Zero has trouble with is straight ahead in air. The only move he really has for it is m lightning (which j. m HT will beat—if you do it first).

Spencer, is also a pain to me. Primarily because if he normal jumps forward and then claws. You have a 50/50 shot of guessing wrong (because if he goes straight-- s. m HT will miss, but s. H HT will hit. And the opposite if he claws down forward. And this is all not including assists. You also can’t forget the get-out-of-jail-free-AAAAAARM!

And fucking Hawkeye. Piercing arrow outright beats a lot. Smart teleporting is crucial in that match up. He often can sit in a corner and plink you with his slightly superior keep away. You have to wait til he has no meter and stick to s.j. L H

I really hate Taskmaster with a beam assist. I feel like this one is all about who gets to set their zoning up first. Then the other person is forced to change something up to even the momentum.

I’m telling people… That’s why DP/Doom/Strider is so good. It doesn’t matter who sets up zoning first, because vajra says “screw taskmaster.”

I may have to try that. I have been looking for an anti-zoning variant of my haggar/dp/doom team… strider would probably work nicely. For some character/assist combos, deadpool + missiles just doesn’t do it for me.

I switched off of missiles and use plasma beam. Missiles does the same job as vajra so it was redundant to use both, especially when vajra does aerial lockdown better. Plasma beam is just so good for mixups combined with quickwork and teleports.
If you use the advanced DP combos, that double DP hyper combo with missiles isn’t really needed anyhow. And vajra lets you reset your teleport counter in a double teleport combo without using a corner. Everything missiles can do, vajra does better.

Feel free to message me here as I am interested in helping out with your Deadpool guide!

I am down

Alright thanks guys. As soon as I get something you guys can help out on, I’ll shoot you a message.
In other news, is anyone going to Summer Jam in Philly on the 25th/26th? I should probably be there (my first tourney since early vanilla) and I’m gonna try to put in some work. If people thought they liked morrigan, they’re just going to LOVE deadpool.

Awesome, I will totally look out for you then! I unfortunately can never go to tournaments as I live in Canada so there aren’t many tournaments to really attend. :frowning:

Come on, let’s scratch that Deadpool itch.

More Deadpool TV for you beautiful people!

So disappointed in my last two RevLA matches. I should have been content to zone with Deadpool. If you want a lesson of when NOT to teleport, see the archives of me vs. J. Wong or KillerKai.
