Dictator Combo Thread: He rules with an Iron Fist...of Energy!

What are your crossup combos, guys?

I find that Bison’s B&B combos are inconsistent after a crossup - sometimes I land too far away from some characters to make them work properly.

cross up, c.jab, s.short, c.forward xx rh sk (my main cross-up combo)
cross up, close s.fierce, c.short xx short sk (using this a ton recently)

If thats the case, what I do is just improvise. If I notice my next jab might not hit, I just go with the SK. Its something you just learn over time iMO.

On block: cr. jab, cr. lkx2 into scissor or tick off 1st cr. lk
On hit(online): cr. jabx2, cr.lk xx lk sk
On hit (offline): Cr. Jab, st. jab, cr. mk xx HK SK (always works for me I don’t know what ur problem is)

I mix this up with a simple backdash on shotos to safeguard against shoryuken mashers.

Best advice is to go to training mode and see which combos work. Then you will find things like how Balrog gets a free pass because of his skinny hitbox on cross up also that some combos or strings work when the opponent is crouching as opposed to standing up.Because the characters hitbox is fatter.

What the above poster said. Be sure to check with EVERY character, as you’d be surprised what things do and don’t work from character to character.

Typically, if you’re not sure about your spacing after a crossup, cr. jab, st. short XX lk scissors works.

Thanks for your advice, guys. I’ll go and check everyone with different crossups and combos.

And yes, that “skinny” Barlog is one of those making me confused

jMPx2 into NMB…I always seem to find a way to screw up the timing…

:nono:

Delay it or look for the visual aid. Wait for the opponent back to flaten out or also for you to land before you do the motion. Too easy right?

Finally… after having this game for a year i finally have done the combo I’ve always wanted to do in a match (online of course :frowning: ). J .fp, cl S fp xx HK scissor xx super. Its soooo damaging but its such a pain. Do the super too fast and it goes straight from S.fp to super…too slow and super doesn’t even come out. Did it to a stunned akuma.

BTW I’m starting to think c.lp slp sucks as a combo but its good for fishing for counter hits. c.lp s.lk to whatever is much better imo because my timing gets thrown off by far lp.

does anyone have any tips on lnading c.lk x3…i do it but rather inconsistently and it feels i move my finger with the same timing all time …what should i do to get it down?

practice

double tap lk or plink it with lp

yeah just practice dude, do it over and over and over. first just try and do three shorts. when you get that consistent, then work on cancelling into scissors. you’ll get it down soon enough, it took me like a month or so to where i was getting it consistently.

also can you really p-link jabs and shorts? i thought you could only p-link to a weaker attack? im not too familiar with the whole concept anyways but recently started using it for dictator’s tougher links like s.short to s.roundhouse, cr.mp to cr.mk, cr.mp to s.rh, etc.

also, just a note, im surprised we don’t see more people using cr.short, cr.jab, st.short, cr.mk xx roundhouse scissors. the cr.short, cr.jab link is not bad at all and nets you more damage off of a shit cr.short, making the cr.short, st.short link we were all discussing a while back kinda moot since you can get to roundhouse scissors a bit easier.

Crouching, yes.

Been working on c.LK s.LK c.MK xx RH Scissor myself.

Working on c.LP cs.LP c.MP xx HP Psycho. Mad awkward on my fingers.

Heres what I did, set the dummy on auto block, use Visual aid and sound aid, when Bisons swings his arm around (The arm by his chest) hit Crouching lk or as soon as Bison smiles hit clk again, or before the sound of a clk (confirmed hit) disappears hit clk again, or when the dummy is in hit animation hit Clk again etc.

Break up the combo into sets 1st focus on trying to get 3 clk hits on the dummy consistently, using what ever means I have stated above, ala Visual and sound aid or whats best for you. Until your muscles pick up on it and just know. Then after that its smooth sailing when you add SK. Not saying you will get it down tight doing it this way, just saying this was the easiest way for me.

Really?!O_0

just wait for super, if you don’t have it already. the c.lk is mad easy now; c.lk x4 xx sk all day long. even the c.lk -> s.lk and c.lk -> c.lp links got easier, which completely makes up for the damage nerf that bison got, for me at least.

^I already got super, There a slight speed difference in inputs that will mess with your muscle memory and yes the Clk is a tiny bit easier (due to the input speed def) but not super simple like Rogs jabs, if you had trouble doing them in SF4 you may have a problem doing them in Super or you could end up like my lil sis and that slight speed difference will sync with your bad timing you had in sf4, making it possible to peform Clk x4 sk 4 days in super.

There’s no speed boost. They didn’t touch the engine at all if you read the interviews. They didn’t change much. Maybe c.HP, but I’m still skeptical.
