Dictator Combo Thread: He rules with an Iron Fist...of Energy!

Yes.

Not punishable after block since you will be brought back to your origin of launch. If you decide to follow up with skulldiver(the punch after headstomp), then you might get punished. Regular headstomp is vulnerable to air to air attacks if they time it properly. EX headstomp is invulnerable at startup frames and travels really fast.

Yeah, your main priority is to land Ultra off j.strong, but nobody really jumps against Bison anymore, so it’s hard to land that. However, your best AA is s.roundhouse. The problem with s.roundhouse is that it can whiff if they jump in at a weird angle above the hitbox(which isn’t small by any means either). I feel shotos have an easier time getting over s.roundhous, so obviously you have to space it out.

I’ll see what I can do. But a lot of his combos are really off counterhits.

Either jump in fierce or j.forward.

Thanks for the response DS, very very helpful :wgrin:!!

I’ve had the game for a day now, and I noticed in matches last night that the EX head stomp trades with a late timed shoryuken, and an EX shoryuken as well. That’s fine with me though, because that trade is way in Bison’s favor.

I’m going to do these combos with attack data on and report back on damage values, unless someone beats me too it.

I’m mainly coming from ST, and I miss Bison’s old combos that would annihilate health bars. :frowning: I was never too aggressive with them, preferring to play a poking and pressure game…so Bison feels right in this game.

Hello, old ST player here. M.Bizzle 4 life.
Really liking SF4 so far.
I was wondering if someone could help me with one particular combo required to pass Bison’s challenge mode trial:

Focus Attack > low mp > low mk > light psycho crusher
It’s the 4th trial on hard mode.
cheers

That’s one of his harder trials.

The trick here is to practice the right timing for cr.mp into cr.mk, then only attempt this trial. Took me more than 20 attempts!

What can Bison do out of a saving attack? Working a charge out of the dash…ugh.

has never really played with charge characters

Also, can scissors kick be linked from an lp or lk?

scissor kick can be linked from either one. timing is a must as usual. Be careful against shotos cause they love to mash out of the chain.

You just need to realize when the dash input is accepted by the game and immediately begin charging. From there, just do one of his ground combos to allow for the charge to finish.

thanks the double tap works just feels real weird doing it haha

EDIT: i finally got it

I have found in messing around in training/arcade doing a FADC scissor or other charge move really isn’t as hard as it may seem on paper…as mentioned before the dash is actually buffered and you don’t see the animation when you enter it, unlike, say, s hk or regular dash. Think Street Fighter 1  So just do mp+mk (hold to your desire) ff, back (hold) [you’ll see dictator dash], c lp yadda yadda.

I heard a whispered secret in the depths of the senior citizen’s community center that there is charge partitioning exists in this game. Can anyone confirm or deny? I always sucked at partitioning in 3s so I don’t trust myself.

Does anyone else think that dictator is really like his EX self?

Ill just assume this is a good place to ask, I think I need to know is how to cancell properly but eh. In Bisons trial 3 you have to do the combo c.hp into knee press nightmare, this is what I need help doing. I was trying to input it after the hard punch animation is finished but it looks like my window closes before the animation is done.

is it possible to link c.mk from c.lk?

How in gods name do you do the Focus --> C MP —> C MK —> Psycho Crusher combo they ask you to do in the second to last trial?

In short, practice!

It seems like the MP pushes the MK out of range though. There’s no trick to it other then timing?

No doubt it is tough, but you have to have great timing with your dash out of your focus. This is basically how I do it.
When I did it, it realy felt like I was overlapping my dash with my realease of my focus. You may not look like you are doing anything for a bit, but don’t worry, you will dash up. Right after you input the forward, buffer a down-back charge. If you combo with the crouching forward, then it is just a matter of cancelling that into a light Psycho.

This is my interpretation of the button pushes below.

Hold :mp:+:mk: :r: [release focus] :r:, buffer :db: :mp: :mk: xx :r:+:lp:

I’ve been on level 5 of Bison’s hard trial now for an embarrassing amount of time. Can anyone help me out with the timing on this?

It’s j.mk > cr.lk > cr.lp > cr.mk > heavy scissor kicks.

I just don’t understand the timing at all. I’ve been up to the scissor kicks step maybe once or twice but mostly I’m blocked on the lp or it just doesn’t come out. Is there some trick to this that I’m just not getting?

If you’re getting blocked on the lp, that means that you are hitting the buttons too fast when you’re crouching, remember that it is a link and you require dictator to finish the animation for the c.lk, keep on trying I say, it takes a bit of timing, don’t rush your button presses, try to slow it down. That’s what I’ve learned in this game, that you have to slow down your inputs to get the links you want.

I’m also having trouble with trial #5. Two one-frame links in a row = vicious.
