my lvl12 wiz has 68 intellagence and does 37.37 dps. but im using a weak wand and a shield. but those arcane orbs just rip mobs apart. as for rings, yea u got to buy them from merc in the beta. i got 2x 2-4 dmg, 5% mf rings on my wizard.
I took mf off because I still didn’t a decent yellow item on my wiz and decided to just get attack speed, since that actually speeds up casting animation and channel attack rate. Leoric is one greedy mofo, never dropping shit after the first run. I’m glad they made him vulnerable to cc, so I can just stun the shit out of him with the barb’s bash + clobber rune as payback. It’s hilarious because he would be stuck in a loop of trying to summon skeletons but gets hit by stun, then get out and try the same thing, just to get stunned again.
lmao, i just rolled a barb and was coming here to write the same thing, that shit was hilarious!!! im surprised how fun a barb is, i thought i wouldnt like him, but he is fun as shit, just smashing the fuck out of everything, lol.
just upgraded my gear on my wiz, got 40 dps and 33% mf
Man you guys are going in on trying to maximize your beta chars. Shit is not gonna matter shortly, but at least you guys are having fun with what is available.
I’m not really sure why this game is getting any hate either. Were people expecting Diablo II with pretty graphics? Everyone with half a brain knows that D2 with pretty graphics and calling it D3 would’ve been cool for a while, but eventually it would have gotten old. Those some people would bitch “I wish they just did more rather than recycle Diablo II…”. Fucking nerds.
Anyways, the direction they are going with the skills and abilities is a good one. Although I will miss spamming spells with no cooldown like in D2, I welcome the new system they have put in place. The problem with D2 after a while was that there were only a handful of viable builds for each class, and for each build you only used a handful of spells in them. Hell, my Blizzard Sorceress in D2 pretty much only ever used Blizzard… and there was pretty much no reason ever not to. Remember Smite-adins? SMACK EVERY ENEMY WITH YOUR SHIELD. FOREVER. While that shit was fun for how absurd it was, variety and flexibility is definitely better here. Blizzard’s decision to only have a handful of skills and abilities that are modified is a good one since you will essentially be able to “change specs” infinitely to suit whatever challenges you or your party might face. I think it’s awesome that I will be able to tune my monk into an ass kicking DPSer with hard hitting moves, or play support by healing my allies and boosting their offense/defense with mantras. That is way better than picking one build and being relatively forced to playing it for the rest of that character’s life.
I haven’t leveled any character past ten, but I can’t wait to start the full game in a few weeks. GET HYPE!
but smiting just feels so good
So I just started a Wizard and hory krappe is she fun. Of course, there’s that initial rush you feel when you play a caster, obliterating everything in just a few hits (Monk is like that too, and I really enjoy his rekka/meter-building system for that too). But mana regen times and the like always put me off from playing them later on. Arcane energy regens really quickly, allowing you to fill the screen with crap while doing it thoughtfully. It makes for a fast-paced caster, and I like that. Plus, Chinese sorcress. Kinda hard to go wrong with that.
Yeah, I support the new move system. Not being confined to an ultra-specific role is actually pretty liberating. Equip yourself to whatever your party needs most, and let your skill carry you on out from there.
Tried the beta. Looks like my laptop is not gonna be able to handle this. I can still play, but it lags like shit. Looks like I’ll be forced to buy a new one just for Diablo 3. Dammit.
So there’s not gonna be anymore skill trees huh? What about the character points, you know, like the strength, agi, vitality, etc they had in D2. And are you gonna have unlimited town portals?
You have stats, but not stat points.
TP is unlimited. It’s just an option that becomes available to you on your bar eventually.
I’m glad stat points were abolished. They made things a bit overcomplicated in builds.
If you guys want to see if your PC/laptop will be able to run D3, check the site below. It’s useful for other games too.
dam i played this beta too much, i had over 100k gold at one point…im done…
will be sad to say goodbye to my pride and joy of the beta, the demonhunter…57.15 dps…
I wouldn’t mind stat points if it makes sense but D2 overall it didn’t matter because every build followed this:
Strength, enough for your gear endgame
Dex, enough for max block or none for no block (unless you’re using a bow)
Vitality, everything else.
mana? no one put any into mana. rinse repeat for EVERY FUCKING BUILD!
now that I had a chance to run this with Reth and Bteks, shit was fun! hell I didn’t even know what I was looking for in gear for my WD but I had a blast just playing. love how at anytime I can change my style to another build without being forced to redo all my stats.
Yeah, I can only think of how many options there will be, once you fully unlock a character.
I have to say that I’m really impressed. I was skeptical for a long time, and didn’t care much for the closed beta right when it started. Unlimited TP? Makes sense. Why bother buying a bunch of portal scrolls and taking up your inventory? It was unnecessary at best. Same with ID scrolls. Its kind of weird that Cain doesn’t ID stuff anymore, and I still think he should, but I like that you can just right click them now. Stat points and skill allocation was a big deal and I was really pissed off when I found out we couldn’t set them ourselves. However, they have done a great job in this recent build and the runes are a great idea. Love the extra gear slots. Love the potions. Love that there are no mana potions and your mana/spirit/whateverthefuck acts more of like a cooldown timer than anything else.
I don’t like how it seems as though I only ever see drops for the class I’m playing. Every now and then I’ll see some WD or Barb stuff drop on my Wiz, but not often. Personal loot makes more and more sense to me the more I play given that blues aren’t as powerful as they used to be, and yellows are stupid rare. Makes sense because only one person was going to snag that good drop anyway. It’s like an automatic loot distribution.
I don’t like that I can’t put any skill on any button. However, I hear that is only a beta thing. Once it fully releases we can put anything anywhere.
I do really hope that the final unlocked runes are not the “best”.
But I’m sure Blizz said it’s not. Just more variety.
I am excited to be part of the 75% of Monks when the game drops.
GIVE ME THE 2.00 SPEED KNUCKLES SO I CAN DO REKKA PROCS ALL DAY
Go to options and then gameplay, turn elective mode on. That would allow you to set any skill to your hotbar. I run with leap and ground stomp on my barb instead of taking ancient spear.
My god. Yes.
What gets me is most people can’t wrap their heads around the fact that its a BETA and not the full game.
why does everyone miss stat allocation? all you ever did with them was dump it all in VIT.
I also missed skill trees and stats.
Then I realized that I was just missing habit and nothing more.
I just finished the beta using the DH. Very impressive. I wasn’t able to reach level 9 though so I didn’t see the other skill.
